ABOUT INDONESIA Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a sovereign state gained its independence in th 17 August 1945. Indonesia is located between the Pacific and Indian Ocean and also between the Asia and Australia Continent. It covers 1,811,569 square kilometers of land and 93,000 square kilometers of water, making it the 15th largest nation in the world with a total area of 1,904,569 square kilometres with about 18,000 islands inside its archipelago. Indonesia is a home for 252 million people which covers hundreds of ethnic groups with their own distinct culture, language, etc. The largest – and politically dominant – ethnic group are the Javanese. However, a shared identity has developed, defined by a national language, ethnic diversity, religious pluralism within a majority of Muslim population, and a history of colonialism and rebellion against it. Indonesia's national motto is Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which translates to “Unity in Diversity” which means despite all of the differences the country possesses, there is only one nation and one country only which is Indonesia. Some of the most famous places in Indonesia is Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Follows, Bali, which is known as island of paradise because of its beautiful beaches. Finally, Jogja, the city of heritage in Indonesia. Other famous Place include Karimun Jawa, Gili Trawangan, Raja Ampat, Bunaken, and many more.


Jogja is a city in Java island, known as "Kota Pelajar" (Student City) means that there are so many universities, and be the most favourite destination for many students in Indonesia to continue their study. As a result, there are so many other Indonesian cultures gathers in Jogja. Jogja also known for its traditional cultural heritage and be the second favourite tourist destination after Bali, because of its historical building like Taman Sari Water Castle, a site if a former royal garden of Sultanate of Yogyakarta. And the famous Malioboro street, a right place to shop souvenirs from Jogja. Many visitors stay in Jogja to visit Prambanan and Borobudur temple, and also because Jogja has that strong Javanese culture and traditions

ABOUT UGM

UGM (Universitas Gadjah Mada ) is public research university located in Jogja since 19 December 1949. UGM is one of the oldest University in Indonesia, and also considered as the best and the most prestigious University in Indonesia. Comprising 18 faculties and 27 research centers ranging from social culture to engineering,UGM has enrolled about 55.000 students, including 1.187 foreign students .


PROJECT BACKGROUND Mahadana is a javanese word that means rich. In accordance to its name, this project aims to promote the richness of Jogjakarta culture through practical experiences and at the same time develop an indigenously authentic village in Jogja. In the end there will also be a final show here you will showcase what your journey through MAHADANA.

Okay, so now how does the project is going to be

implemented?

The project will be implemented in six weeks full of excitement and development.


FIRST WEEK 1. WELCOMING PARTY So this is where you will be introduced to your fellow EPs, the project and also Indonesia speciďŹ cally Jogja. In other words, this is the start of your project!

3. TRAINING FOR TRAINEE Well, if the IPS is to introduce you to the culture. Training for trainee will focus more on the project, what tools you can use to have an effective project and how you could actually implement the project. This event is created so that you will not be lost in your journey here!

2. IPS (Induction Preparation Seminar) This 2 days AIESEC Conference is basically your survival kit in through your exchange experience here in Jogja. Whether it is culture shock, lifestyle, we will get through all of that here. Besides, you will also get the chance to mingle with fellow Eps, buddies, host-fams, OCs, and AIESEC UGM member.


SECOND-FIFTH WEEK Basically your activities in this week will be divided into these two major activities : 1. The ďŹ rst one is the activities in the village where you will develop the village through soft skills abilities and also the infrastructure.

You will also conduct competition to encourage an active participation from the citizens such as drawing, singing, etc.


SECOND-FIFTH WEEK 2. Secondly, you will be immersed with Indonesian culture. You will get to choose which one you want to learn during your time here, and don't forget this will be presented in the ďŹ nal show! The cultural immersion include:

Traditional dance


SECOND-FIFTH WEEK

CHARITY In one of your day here, you will c o n d u c t o n e d ay c h a r i t y eve n t where you will share your skills and knowledge to a children study group in Jogja. This is the right place for you to share insights and play with children. At the same time, you will donate books and stationary that has been collected before time.

WEBSERIES

You don't want to miss a thing in this big journey. We let you to make a documenter video each two week to record what you've got and upload it to the internet. Let the world knows how great your experience is. In the end you will also documenting the beauty of the village through video and photo. Both of this will be presented in the ďŹ nal show.


SECOND-FIFTH WEEK

PROJECT BONDING Don't wory you won't feel like you do not know each other. There will be a day allocated for project bonding where you can totally have fun with fellow EPs, OCs, buddy, etc!

GLOBAL VILLAGE Share your unique culture to Indonesian's students. We'll bring you to some highschool around Jogja. Show the richness of your country by performing anything possible to represent your beloved country.


LAST WEEK Time goes by and now you are on the last week. In this week you will have a farewell with the village through valentine's day event and also the long awaited ďŹ nal show.

1. FINAL SHOW We specially make this amazing opportunity for you. Feel a great moment to perform what you've learned from learning partners in front of massive public in big venue. You will also showcase the digital promotion about the village, the village handicraft, drawing in the event.


LAST WEEK

2. FAREWELL PARTY Get dressed and suit up for this last activity. Share what you've experienced to all buddies, host families and all the people involved. We also prepare some great apprecation for you!
