Steve has lived in Peacehaven & Telscombe for 30+ years and works as an area manager in the Motor Finance Industry. Steve enjoys taking photographs of sunrise/sunsets along the South coast and South Downs together with a passion for sports/motor sport images. Unfortunately the Teak Lounge came and went, we hope that they can get up and running in the future as we felt it had great promise and would provide a great resource for people who lived alone and needed some companionship. Technology in Cars ... useful or just a load of gimmicks? For the last decade computer technology has been creeping into new cars. I have recently updated my car and I was surprised how much technology has become standard on a mid-range model. The first thing I noticed was the 8 inch colour touch screen in the centre of the dashboard. To understand the features I found a YouTube clip from the designer boasting that it was easy enough for a 50 year old to use (!) This screen controls Entertainment (CD/AM/FM/DAB/iPod), SatNav, hands free Mobile use (reads any texts received) and Climate Control. I feel the screen alone deserves a training DVD or a half day course. A sensor built into the back of the rear view mirror turns the headlights on and off. The sensor is sensitive enough to automate the windscreen wipers, including the speed. I find the rear parking sensors very helpful during periodic visits to Portsmouth - I would love the fully automated systems. I feel this would be step too far for many. I can see the financial advantages of using cruise control for better fuel economy but I still find it rather eerie. Is all this technology good? The hidden technologies make it easier to drive and safer in foul weather. The touchscreen is fun and effective. The automated lights and wipers get it right most of the time. The way the rear seats can be reconfigured is confusing but pleasing. Ultimately, it is still a car, it gets me from A to B with tech toys!

Finalist Donates Prize Money Karl Woolven donates prize money and hopes to raise more… Talented 17 year old footballer, Kyle Woolven, has donated his £50 prize for being a finalist in the Argus Community Stars Awards to the charity that supported his youth football team.

The Robert Eaton Memorial Fund (REMF) provided several kits and funding for facilities at the Denton and South Heighton Junior Football Club where Kyle scored over 500 goals for his divison one youth side. Kyle now plays for County Premiership side Newhaven FC and is a student at the AITC college where he is coached by Sami El-Abd, Nathan Bowen and former Brighton and Hove Albion player, Guy Butters. Starting as a ballboy for the fundraising REMF football matches, Kyle has now progressed to being named as the youngest player in the squad for the 15th annual match between Brighton and Crystal Palace fans, taking place on May 30th at the AMEX Stadium. The Brighton fans side is being managed by Brighton CEO, Paul Barber, and includes former players Peter Ward, Garry Nelson and Ricky Marlowe.

WITH THE club’s on and off field difficulties regularly documented here this season, acting chairman Sue Norwood wants to bring club supporters up to date... Last but most definitely not least I want to thank our fantastic and dedicated fans for supporting the club on and off the field during this tough period for the Magpies.
Sue Norwood writes: ‘All of us at Peacehaven & Telscombe FC are working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver Ryman South football next season.
I believe our fans are a unique bunch and by following the team week in and week out in the way they do and caring as much as I and my fellow committee members do about this football club, gives me great strength.’
It's not a secret that historical debt has caught up with us this season and we are now paying the price. The impact has been felt throughout the whole club forcing us to take drastic action by reducing the playing budget and cutting back on all expenses. We are also working very hard trying to bring in new investment and investors into the club who will do what's best for the club's long term future.
With the season fast drawing to a close, Peacehaven are in a tough relegation battle which could go to the wire. The home games for April are: Saturday April 2 v Folkestone Invicta and Saturday April 16 v Whitstable Town. Both games kick-off at 3pm.
At the end of this season I will be standing down as acting chairman due to my personal work commitments but I still want to remain an active committee member of this club.
Adults, £10 and concessions £6. Concessions are available to those over retirement age and full time students. Under 17s get in for free but proof of your age may be required.
Currently we are searching for a suitable person to become chairperson of our brilliant football club and we are also looking at the possibility of the club becoming a community club where supporters own shares, similar to Lewes FC.

Bridgeford’s Best Bites: Osteopathy Tips (Aether Bios Clinic) MAINTENANCE OSTEOPATHIC TREATMENT (M.O.T.) Many people take much better care of their car than their body. In essence the aspects of care are similar with both cars and bodies. A car regularly needs petrol, water, oil, and air in the tyres; also services and various repairs, usually increasingly with age. At regular services, a car may need a change of oil, spark plugs, filters, belts, etc. When a car is old enough to require an MOT you may be advised and / or required to replace tyres, brakes, windscreen, etc. If we fill our tank with diesel when the car is designed to run on petrol, things can go badly wrong. When the tyres are flat you can fill up the tank with the best fuel, but you will still not be able to drive; equally putting air in tyres when the fuel tank is empty will not help get you from A to B. It is necessary to give specific attention to correct a specific problem your car is having in order for it to function well for you. Similarly with a body, some of its basic needs are fuel (good food, the right food), water, oil, air (and rest); also 'services' and various repairs, usually increasingly with age! If we are healthy, the most regular services relate to teeth and eyes and with ladies of a certain age cervical and breast checks. Many people tend to consider their health only when they are ill. We can buy a new car but not a new body! I notice that many people tend to come for osteopathic treatment only when something hurts and then stop coming when it feels better, which is absolutely fine. I also notice that people's symptoms start to ease when their body has not yet fully restored optimal movement and functionality. This is part of a wonderful self preservation method we have, our ability to compensate for a problem or issue. This enables us to function well even though we have problems and limitations in our bodies. We don't have to think about limping when our foot hurts, it just happens naturally; for example a young child with a hip problem can still manage to run around by using a swinging movement at the hip to use their leg; nobody needs to be taught how to do this, it just happens naturally. The down side to this is that, apart from acute injuries, by the time we get symptoms and things may start to hurt, we have probably walked around with the problem for quite some time and built up a number of very clever compensations to help us deal with it; some of the compensations may start to give symptoms too. In my experience, regular M.O.T. helps to keep the body moving and functioning well and helps to iron out the problems we are compensating for so well, before they cause symptoms. Each person is different in how often they need an M.O.T. depending on health, issues, activities, work, lifestyle, etc. Generally, M.O.Ts. can be cost effective as it can help in preventing issues from causing further problems through compensations becoming issues in themselves and taking more time and work to sort out.
