Ocean Views This is the end of the line ... for Win 7, Win 8 and Win 8.1 On 31st October 2016 was EOS for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. Eh? EOS is Microsoft short hand for End of Sales. After that date OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) versions of those operating systems are no longer sold by Microsoft. After poring over multiple explanations it appears that the last loophole has been closed. Windows 10 and Windows 10 Pro are the only choices left. For the last year or so it has been possible to order a new PC or laptop with Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 by buying a Windows 10 Pro machine with the older operating system pre-loaded. This is buy using the downgrade rights loophole. Imagine you had an office with 30 PCs on Windows 7. The company expanded and needed three more computers. It is pretty complicated to have 25 on Win 7 and 3 on Win 10. So businesses were given the opportunity to buy a Win 10 Pro machine pre-loaded with the earlier system to allow continuity.

The machine was also supplied with a set of discs to install Win 10 Pro when the company migrated to the newer system. I recently went into a newly upgraded branch of Currys / PC World to see that they are still running their business on Windows XP Pro. There is an even bigger ticking bomb inside the NHS. With this huge organisation trying to deal with continual change and reorganisation, scant attention is being paid to the aging creaking infrastructure. In fairness the NHS has tried to move forward but it is infamous for having had more than one huge IT project failure (next month's topic). If you have Win 7/8/8.1, it will still be supported with updates and patches by Microsoft. Win 7 (with SP1) will be supported until Jan 14 2020, Win 8.1 until Jan 10 2023 and Win 10 until Oct 14 2025. Windows 8 is only supported if upgraded to Win 8.1. If you want Win 7, 8, 8.1 be quick. There are small numbers of Windows 10 Pro with downgrade rights but they will be probably gone within a month or so. This really is your last chance to buy Windows 7 ......

Such is the affection for these shows and this talented duo that, as with their previous outings, the Matinee Melodies Christmas Show is expected to sell out very quickly, and tickets are already on sale from the usual outlets, listed below and moving fast! “Of all the shows that we perform throughout the year, the Matinee Melodies Christmas Show is always our favourite” says producer Chris Neilson. “It puts everyone in a wonderful mood, and is the perfect way to celebrate the festive season with our wonderfully loyal audience. WITH THE first three months of the season now firmly behind them, it’s now time for a quarterly report on the progress made on the field at the Unibet Arena. Peacehaven & Telscombe manager Mark Shutt and his team of coaches have been busily moulding the first team together and now, three months on the shoots of recovery are starting to show through. It has been a tough start to the season conversely made more difficult by the success the club had in the early rounds of the FA Cup and the FA Vase. Those two competitions alone accounted for seven games and add three more other cup games into the mix and this initially impacted on the club’s early season league form. The league results are now starting to pick up and Haven had a very encouraging 2-2 draw against second placed Haywards Heath recently. The club is also enjoying the largest home support in the division, and for one game last month achieved an attendance of 202 which ranked the club as the fourth highest attended game in the country at this Step Five level. After the difficult summer the club had to endure, the whole club is now on the up. Each weekend a total of 20 teams are fielded by the club from under 7s and upwards. Results are of course mixed, but anchoring all these teams together is the community status the club now enjoys.
The club has now launched its membership scheme to increase the number of owners. You can now become a member of the football club for just £10 which then means you in turn become a joint owner. If you are one of the 91 investors in the Community Shares scheme you are already a member and therefore an owner of our football club. Forms are now available online by going to www.peacehavenfc.co.uk , at the clubhouse and in the match day programme. The club wants as many members as they can achieve and it will only cost £10 per annum to become a member. The home games for November are: Saturday 5th v Broadbridge Heath and Saturday 19th v Crawley Down Gatwick. Entry is £6 for adults, £4 for over 65s and under 18s get in for free. Announcement from the Good Companions Club The Peacehaven and Telscombe Good Companions Club would like to sadly announce that they will have their final meeting on the 12th December 2016. The Companions Club would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the years, including the entertainers who have put on such wonderful shows for our members.
Autism Sussex comes to Peacehaven! Last month Autism Sussex opened a brand new charity retail unit in Peacehaven… Situated on the Meridian Industrial Estate, the unit has a shop at the front selling good quality clothing, bric-a-brac, books and furniture. It also has two large areas set aside to upcycle furniture and process stock for our other shops. We’re really excited about our new Peacehaven venture as this is the first time we’ve opened such a large unit situated away from a high street. We would love it if Peacehaven residents could support us in any way possible; either through donations, as customers or by providing practical help as volunteers. All the money we raise through our charity shops is used to provide our unique services across Sussex, supporting people with autism and their families. Why not pop along and have a look around? You can kick-start your Christmas shopping and hopefully pick up a few bargains! Dancers from “Southern Stomp” Line Dance Club got together for an afternoon Tea Party to raise funds for the Macmillan Charity. The group enjoyed tea and cake with a surprise guest as their local Mayor of Telscombe, Councillor Gwen Maskell joined them. This was the third year the Dance Club have held the fundraising afternoon tea and this year raised a record amount of £330. For Joy Ashton, who runs the Line Dance Club, this was the third successive year of hosting such an event and would like to thank all those who made this such a wonderful and rewarding afternoon.

Third Treemendous Christmas at St Margaret’s Church St Margaret’s Church, Rottingdean is preparing for its third popular Christmas Tree Festival on the weekend of Friday to Sunday 2, 3 & 4th December 2016. In the Church, we anticipate there will be around 40+ decorated trees. Some trees will be traditional, others more modern – some glitzy, some colourful, and unusual. Each will be amazing in their own way, to make this popular and entertaining family event a success. The festival is being organised by parishioner Duncan Ward who said “We are involving local children, individuals, groups, organisations, and businesses. This is a popular Christmas event and we hope many will come along and support us..” The Festival will be open to the public from Friday 2 to Sunday 4 December 2016, at the Church on the Green, Rottingdean. There will be an entry fee with proceeds going to the upkeep and general maintenance of St Margaret’s Church, Rottingdean. Refreshments will be available during the Festival in St Margaret’s Cottage.

Locals undertake the Memory walk
The Memory walk is held annually nationwide, to raise awareness of Alzeheimer’s and to raise funds for the Alzheimers Association who provide care and support to all facing this disease… The inspiration for doing the Memory Walk is that Cathy takes care of her husband's 95 year old grandmother, Betty Deller who has dementia. This is a 24 hour , 7 day a week job! Although grandma is still as cheeky as ever and says the funniest things sometime, it is also so sad to see the person you love lose their ability to remember things, become childlike and be so confused and frail. We wouldn't be able to do what is right for grandma and have her live in her own home and have us care for her if it weren't for the fantastic support we get from my Betty's Crew teammates Sarah and Lulu (Lorraine).

Together with Grandma's daycentre , Warwick House in Seaford, we are able to give grandma the quality of care and she is happy, and has the purposeful life she deserves. We are all walking together in the Memory Walk to help find a cure, treatments and the best support for people with dementia and their families. There are many people who are not as lucky with support as Betty Deller. We would like to thank John at Coastal Cabs who donated a taxi journey to Hove Lawns and driver Zeeshanali. Plus all the family and friends and customers of Lulu's Cleaning who have sponsored us. We have raised a total of £380 for the Alzheimers's Society.

The local stars of a charity motorsport event, visited the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton this week, to present to staff with their cheque for the staggering amount of £37,000… The Brighton Bears’ National Banger team have been racing for over 30 years, across the country and mainland Europe with their unique driving style. In recent years, they have been putting back into the community from where they come, with an annual charity meeting, with all proceeds going to support the vital work of the children’s hospital.

‘The Bears Big Bash’ returned for its fourth running in the summer, in front of a packed crowd at Arlington Stadium in Eastbourne. Seven months of hard work and planning ensured the continued success of the event, which last year raised over £20,000, enabling the purchase of vital heart monitors for the dedicated Children’s Emergency Department at the Alex. Funds raised by The Brighton Bears at this year’s event will enable staff to fund ongoing projects at the Alex, as well as providing potentially life-saving defibrillators for schools in Sussex. Representatives from ‘The Bears’, including team captain Nigel Riley, joined Ryan Heal and Liz McCluskey from the hospital, for an official cheque presentation.
Liz McCluskey from The Alex, expressed her thanks to Michael and The Bears, “We are so very grateful to everyone involved in the event for their incredible efforts, which really will make a difference to the lives of sick children in Sussex.”
Ambassador for the hospital (and Saltdean resident), Michael Burnage MBE, helped organise the annual fundraiser, and said: “As a group we were determined to better our fundraising total from last year. Exceeding £20,000 was always going to be a big

Bridgeford’s Best Bites: Osteopathy Tips (Aether Bios Clinic) SACRO-ILIAC PAIN The sacro-iliac joint (SI joint or SIJ) is between the sacrum, the triangular bone at the base of the spine and the ilium bones of the pelvis. During movement the SIJ helps distribute the body’s weight from the trunk to the pelvis and extremities while protecting the spine, acting as shock absorption. Anatomy: The SI joints, covered by cartilage, are only capable of a small amount of movement. Their stability is maintained mostly by very strong ligaments connecting the sacrum and ilium inside and outside the joints. The male and female pelvis are different shapes and the SI joints are also slightly different. The SI ligaments loosen during pregnancy due to the hormone relaxin, which allows the pelvic bones to widen during the birthing process. Symptoms: SIJ pain can be sharp or dull, starting at the SI joint (the dimple) and can move to the buttocks, thighs, groins or up the back. Low back pain is common as well as buttock pain on one of both sides. Sometimes standing up triggers the pain and it may be worse in the morning, easing during the day. SIJ pain can be felt in the hip and needs to be differentiated from hip joint pain. Pain can be aggravated by bending over or by standing up after sitting for a long time; laying down can ease it. Causes: Trauma such as a direct fall on the buttocks, rear-end of broad-side type car accidents, stepping from an unexpected height, repeated stress injuries such as jogging, muscle imbalance, uneven leg length or after lumbar fusion surgery. The joints become inflamed (sacroiliitis) in Ankylosing spondylitis causing pain in the low back and buttocks; also in Polyarthritis. Hormonal changes can affect the SIJ, particularly during pregnancy and lactation. SIJ pain that occurs for no apparent reason is called idiopathic. Diagnosis: You will need to see your doctor if you have sudden numbness or tingling in lower back and hips, weakness or numbness in legs, sudden increase in pain, if your recovery is slower than expected or if you have a fever. The doctor will move your legs and hips in different positions to help diagnose SIJ dysfunction. X-rays, injections, MRI or a CT scan may be required as well as blood tests to help diagnose the cause. Treatment: Ice packs, analgesia and rest in acute stages, spinal manipulation, pelvic stabilisation exercises, wearing a support brace. More invasive treatments include injections into the joint and ligaments, radiofrequency neurotomy or ablation, a minimally invasive surgical procedure using heat from radio waves to destroy the nerves carrying pain to SIJ, cryotherapy, or surgery to fuse the SIJ. Osteopathic/Manual Management: From an Osteopathic perspective, SIJ pain can sometimes be related to and referred from issues in other areas of the pelvis and low back. Take a detailed case history to understand the nature of the problem and surrounding issues. Examine the pelvis, back and legs and all surrounding tissues; muscles, ligaments, nerves, fascia, etc., for movement, strength and functionality and assess nerve pathways. Perform orthopaedic and neurological tests and determine the root cause. Treat to reduce tension, nerve irritation and pain. Advice regarding exercise and stretching of back, buttocks and legs. Treatment may include manipulation, deep soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, fascial techniques, dry needling, etc. We are happy to advise you on your health matters and offer a free 15 minute joint and spinal check, without obligation.
