Ocean Views How will Brexit affect new computers? ... a picture is emerging Brexit was always going to be a messy business whatever the result. To the casual observer nothing much has changed in the IT industry. On closer inspection , this is not the case. The industry has approached Brexit in three ways: price increases, reduction in special offers and de-specifying machines.

De-specifying: Many computers that were coming with 6GB or 8GB of RAM are now coming with 4GB. Hard discs are shrinking from 1TB to 500 GB. Processors are commonly downgraded. The manufacturers are using cheaper components to maintain profits and retail prices. If you are a regular reader of my column you may recall me extolling the virtues of a Dell Professional laptop for around ÂŁ400, that has reverted back to the original ÂŁ600 price tag.
Price increases: Dell has openly announced that from 1st August 2016 that prices would increase by 10% to cover currency losses. Others have quietly increased prices on new batches of stock entering the UK. I have seen some laptops available at numerous different prices depending on when they were ordered from manufacturers. Custom laptops were the first to bear the brunt of increases.
However, all is not lost, the bargains are harder to unearth. I have just sourced a Core i3 Dell Professional with a significant saving for a customer to create a great value bundle. I had to really work hard to do a good deal for the customer and a reasonable return for me.
Special Offers: Manufacturers and wholesalers have dramatically reduced the funds available for promotional stock. They appear to be using the money to minimise prices elsewhere.
It is still too early to say if the Brexit storm has passed ......

A Shore Escape
A lovely summers day and a beautiful cabin for a sumptuous pedicure from Carly of Shore Escape Carly of Shore Escape (previously ‘The Beauty Bar’ in Denton for 7 years) celebrates it’s 2ⁿ� birthday. Carly is now in her 9�� year of self employment and loving every minute of it. Carly invited me to come and have a treatment and spoiled me with an Indulge Pedicure. This treatment included a pre soak of the feet in a lovely foot spa. A mask was then applied to my feet and removed with hot mits. The nails were then cut, filed and shaped and cuticle work was performed. An exfoliating sand scrub was applied and hot mits were used again. Any hard skin was removed and a lovely foot massage was expertly carried out. To finish off you get to choose polish from a wide range, I chose a beautiful turquoise green colour. I am writing this 2 weeks after my treatment and the polish is still looking like new and my toes look great in my summer sandals and my rather dry thirsty feet are in much better condition. This makes me feel like showing them off again. Although it is good to have your feet looking in tip top condition, there is a more serious side to a pedicure that people don’t think about. There are many benefits of having a pedicure and it is not just a cosmetic one: ● Feet take the weight of your whole body, and with neglect follows discomfort. It can in turn cause knee, hip and back pain. ● For diabetic suffers, this can cause you to loose feeling in your feet. few heroic months at the football club. What a seven months it has been. Together we have raised the money to take our football club from the brink of extinction and have formed a new fan-owned community football club.
It seems everyone we speak to around the club has said the same thing; manager Mark Shutt and his team have done an incredible job assembling such a talented young squad with no playing budget.
Then we assembled a new squad, a new club structure and interim board, had a glorious little FA Cup run, saw attendances increase from last season and we’ve been to Brimscombe in Gloucestershire and back in the FA Cup!
Their work rate on the pitch has been phenomenal and we’ve been treated to some exciting attacking football. The FA Cup run has shown we can beat the strongest team in our league. Unfortunately an extraordinary amount of injuries has made a difficult job even more challenging.
If you are one of the 91 investors in the Community Shares scheme you are already a member and therefore an owner of our football club. We are about to launch our membership scheme to increase the number of owners. Soon, forms will be available online, at the clubhouse and in the match day programme. We want as many members as we can and it will only cost £10 per annum to become a member. The number of volunteers has increased but we still need more help. You may have skills that could help the club on match days or would like to help maintain the ground/clubhouse. You might enjoy processing paperwork or are happy to collect rubbish and clean the dressing rooms. Whatever you can offer I can assure you it will be greatly appreciated.
With your continued support off the pitch and the team's work rate and effort on it, we’re hoping we’ll start climbing up the league soon enough. Artist Spotlight
Spotlight on Local Artist Sarah Oyetunde… 'Sarah Oyetunde lives with her children and cat in Peacehaven, close to the white cliffs at the sea and the south downs just moments away. She is lucky enough to have a home studio and produces most of her work there. As a self taught artist Sarah makes her own rules, combining varied media, she creates pieces that grow intuitively and take on their own stories. Inspired by nature, the patterns and shapes found in our organic environment and her interest in folk lore and fairy tale, her works are translations of her intuitive sense of the world. Her art is often described as ‘touching something deep within the viewer’ as well as ‘being a visual feast.’ Having recently, successfully opened her studio to the public via Lewes Districts Artwave Open houses, Sarah hopes to soon be able to offer creative wellbeing workshops for the local community which will combine her experiences as a qualified Therapist and a professional artist. She also intends to take part in Artwave again next year and hopes that more Peacehaven artists will get involved to start a proper 'Peacehaven art trail'. Sarah's work has sold to customers all over the globe, with many people collecting her work, she likes to challenge herself and develop her style as she works. She creates paintings and miniatures, bespoke Family Trees and Life Path Mandalas for customers wishing to mark an occasion or date with something personalised and she is always interested in commissions, as she loves the opportunity to tailor her style to someone else’s wishes. Most of her images are available as archival quality prints and gorgeous art cards.'

WRESTLING EVENT ONE of the most exciting stars in wrestling is set to thrill grappling fans when big-time ring action returns to Peacehaven later this month. The Lion Kid will be displaying the high-flying style from the top rope and beyond that has made him an international idol when he appears for the first time at the Meridian Centre on October 22. The Lion Kid has wrestled all around Europe, gaining rave reviews in France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and Ireland, as well as hitting the world stage a couple of years ago when he toured Japan with top promoters Dragon Gate. The big Saturday night spectacular that is being held in conjunction with the Mayor’s local project fund, will also include another big-name star making his Meridian debut. In contrast to The Lion Kid, who is certain to be hugely popular with the Peacehaven fans, however, Crazy Horse, aka the Viking Warrior, is a man on a mission of a different kind. The axe-bearing giant, who claims to originate from the ancient island of Lindisfarne, is well known on the re-enactment fields of England and aims to bring the same aggressive style to the wrestling ring that he displays on battlegrounds all over England. And that means making as many enemies as he can! Among the other stars booked to appear on the show are Premier Wrestling Federation heavyweight champion Kris Kay, his tag-team title-winning partner 6ft. 7in. James Kenna, allaction Sussex star Carl Brady and another wrestler making his first Peacehaven appearance, Jack Starzz, a product of WWE training coach Robbie Brookside’s wrestling academy. The event is being sponsored by Aquarius Solutions, and tickets for the show are available from the Information Office at the Meridian Centre, priced £10 for adults and £9 for concessions. PEACEHAVEN FOCUS GROUP Peacehaven Focus Group was formed in May from the successful 'Save Peacehaven Car Parks' campaign. Here is an outline of some of the issues being addressed and a chance for residents to get involved and help to develop their own community… Many of the committee wanted to put their knowledge gained from that to good use, in addressing issues and concerns of residents in Peacehaven, which affect its community and future and so this group was formed to try and make our town a better place for all. This is a non political group. Current issues for which we are participating or campaigning are A259 traffic control and pollution problems which we are liasing with SAFE Rottingean, Saltdean Residents Association etc; Peacehaven Neighbourhood Plan, Repair & Maintenance of Peacehaven Car Parks, Proposed Building Developments, Policing of Peacehaven, Howard Park (Management/repairs-tidying-up) and many other issues. Bridgeford’s Best Bites: Osteopathy Tips (Aether Bios Clinic) LEG CRAMPS A common and usually harmless condition where the muscles in the leg suddenly become tight and painful. Most commonly this occurs in the calf muscles, though it can affect any muscle of the leg or foot. Most leg cramps occur during sleep. Most cases reported to doctors occur in pregnant women in the last trimester and the over 60s, though all ages and both sexes can be affected. Symptoms: The muscles in the affected part of the leg suddenly become tight and painful due to an involuntary contracting or shortening of the affected leg muscle. This is known as a spasm and the muscle cannot be controlled. This is most common in the calf muscles and the feet and toes can become stiff too. Cramps can last from a few seconds to 10 minutes, with the thigh muscles lasting longest. Once the cramp has eased, it may remain painful and tender for several hours. Causes: Leg cramps that occur for no apparent reason are called idiopathic leg cramps. Secondary leg cramps can occur as a complication or symptom from an underlying health condition. Theories about the cause of idiopathic leg cramps include sudden restriction of blood supply to the affected muscle, abnormal nerve activity during sleep, excessive strain such as during exercise or age related shortening of the tendons, elastic tissue attaching muscle to bone. Secondary leg cramps are caused by extra weight of pregnancy, toxic build-up in liver disease, reduced salt levels due to dehydration, infections such as tetanus, post exercise while resting, neurological conditions such as motor neurone disease or peripheral neuropathy. Medication such as diuretics, nefidipine, statins, nicotinic acid and raloxifene can be a cause of cramps. Diagnosis: You will need to see your doctor if leg cramps are affecting your quality of life, particularly where sleep is affected. Also if they last longer than 10 minutes and exercise does not ease them or if you have been exposed to toxins or infections via a cut. The doctor will ask about symptoms, including numbness and swelling to determine if it is idiopathic or secondary and will also examine your legs and feet. Blood and urine tests may be requested to rule out underlying conditions. Treatment: If the cause of the cramps is known it may be possible to treat the underlying cause, e.g. giving muscle relaxants where the cramp is due to liver disease. Where the cause is unknown usually exercise and pain killers are recommended. Exercising the affected muscles can help to ease most cases of leg cramp. Exercise in the day can help reduce the regularity and severity of night time cramping. Prevention: Stretching the affected muscles regularly may help prevent cramps or reduce their frequency. Stretching the calves before bedtime may help relieve night cramps. Stretching after exercise is generally recommended as good practice. Osteopathic/Manual Management: Take a detailed case history to understand the nature of the problem and surrounding issues. Examine the legs and feet and all surrounding tissues; muscles, ligaments, nerves, fascia, etc., for movement, strength and functionality and assess nerve pathways. Perform orthopaedic and neurological tests and determine the root cause. Treat to reduce tension, nerve irritation and pain. Advice regarding exercise and stretching of legs and feet. Treatment may include manipulation, deep soft tissue massage, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, fascial techniques, dry needling, etc. Bathing in Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) can help to relax tight muscles.
