Elder Nominees liz cooper is a lifelong member of Peachtree. Growing up, she participated in youth programs and later, as an adult, was an advisor. She has been a member of a few different adult Sunday school classes, now active in The Vine. She also serves in the leadership of the Stephen Ministry program. Liz spent 39 years in Wealth Management and recently retired from Truist. mary kent ellis is an Atlanta native and grew up in the
Presbyterian church. She graduated from Rhodes College and obtained a graduate degree from Vanderbilt University. Mary Kent joined Peachtree in 2006. She and her husband, Jeremy, were married at Peachtree and have three daughters: Mary Kent, Jr., Augusta, and Kathleen. She is a Builders Sunday Morning Belong Community member but sometimes crashes the Explorers class. She has served as a confirmation table leader, participated in the children’s ministry as a Sunday school teacher, and volunteered at VBS. She is a small group leader for WCBS and is a court-appointed special advocate with Atlanta CASA.
mike elting moved to Atlanta in 1971 after graduating from
Vanderbilt University. He grew up in McComb, Mississippi. He and his wife Pam met at the Masters and were married in 1977 when they first joined Peachtree. They have been involved in various aspects of the church over the ensuing years. Currently, Mike and Pam serve as presidents of the Anchor Sunday School Class, which they helped start 12 years ago. Mike has been blessed to go on five Peachtree mission trips, two to Ecuador and three to Malawi. He spent 36 years at Cushman & Wakefield, an international commercial real estate firm, before retiring in 2015. He has previously served as an Elder and is currently serving on the campus strategic plan project team, and is also a member of the church property committee. Mike and Pam have two married daughters, Lindsay and Pamela, who grew up in the church, and they currently have four grandchildren, with a fifth due this month.
Elder Class of 2025 tim gartland grew up in the Atlanta area and attended the University of Georgia, where he met his future bride, Emily. They began attending Peachtree in 2000 and were married at Peachtree in 2004. Their three children, Ford (13), Bea (11), and George (7), have all been baptized and are active in church communities. Tim and Emily are founding members of The Explorers Belong Community, and Tim is active in IRONMEN. Tim previously served on Session in the Finance and Benevolence Committees and is honored to be nominated for the class of 2025. Professionally, Tim is the founder and president of Hamilton Land Services, a landscape architecture, construction, and maintenance firm in Atlanta. janie jeter joined Peachtree Presbyterian Church in 1977 and rejoined Peachtree in 2016 along with her husband, Sheldon. Janie has served a previous term on Peachtree’s Session (Class of 2005) and has served on the staff as Discipleship Associate. Her involvement at Peachtree has also included serving as a youth advisor, teaching children’s and adult Sunday school, serving as a MOPS table leader and a member of the Word Before Work ministry team, and participating in several short-term mission trips. Since 2010, Janie has had the delight of leading a women’s Bible study in an in-depth, verse-by-verse study of books of the Bible. Janie and Sheldon have an adult son, Jeff, who lives in Atlanta. spence mcclelland and his wife, Caroline, have attended Peachtree since moving to Atlanta in 2010. They have three sons, John (12), Sam (10), and Briggs (7), and are actively involved in the children’s ministry as teachers and bouncers. They have been a part of the Explorers Class for many years, where they have developed some life-changing friendships, and Spence participates in IRONMEN and, previously, Radical Mentoring. Spence grew up in Baton Rouge, LA attending First Presbyterian Church and Vanderbilt and Northwestern. He is a partner at the venture capital firm Noro-Moseley and serves on the board of Orchard, a Peachtree-supported ministry here in Atlanta.
kennard neal and his wife Joy have been active members
of Peachtree for over 30 years. When Kennard and Joy married in 1990, one of the first things they did was look for a church to attend together. They chose Peachtree and have never left. They are members of the FaithMates Sunday morning community, where Kennard has served in several leadership roles, including multiple terms as president. Kennard is also a member of other Peachtree Community Groups such as the Empty Nester Group, Peachtree Men’s Dining Group, Bible Studies, and Red Dot gatherings. Kennard has also served the church in various capacities on various committees, as a greeter, and most notably as a teacher. Kennard has taught Sunday school lessons to almost every Peachtree age group, including Preschool, Confirmation classes, and Adult Sunday school. Kennard is originally from Rome, Georgia. He left Georgia for high school and college but earned his law degree at the University of Georgia School of Law. Kennard joined Alston and Bird in 1986, became a partner, and has been with the firm for his entire career. Kennard and Joy are blessed with two adult children, Frances and John, who were both baptized and raised at Peachtree. Kennard’s daughter Frances was married here. Kennard and Joy are now empty nesters and look forward to exploring and sharing this next phase of their lives together.
linda schaeffer joined Peachtree Church in 2006 and
previously served on Session. She has been an active Stephen Minister from 2008 until 2021 and facilitated the Divorce Recovery Support Group for the same period of time. She has been involved with the Global Mission Committee and has participated in two Malawi Mission trips and one Mission trip to India. Linda graduated from Seton Hall University with an accounting degree and attended graduate school at Pace University. She practiced as a CPA until her retirement in 2015. Linda currently practices as a Family Law Mediator. She and her husband Bill have one son, Matt, who lives in Denver with his wife and son.
will thomason and his wife of 31 years, Elizabeth, have been
involved with Peachtree Church since moving to Atlanta in 2000 and joining officially in 2006. Elizabeth joined WCBS from the outset, and Will has been active with the IRONMEN Men’s Ministry as a Table Leader for 15 years. Before sending their children off to UT/Austin for college, they raised William (23) and Grace (19) at Peachtree Preschool, VBS, Rutledge, Confirmation, and beyond. At Peachtree, Will has served the church as a LifeGate Board member, on the Church Brand Committee to develop the new Peachtree logo, and on the Elder Nominating Committee. He attended the IRONMEN Mission Trip to Ecuador and is a Habitat for Humanity regular. Will enjoyed a 27-year career in Advertising, primarily in Atlanta, as a Partner at the agency 22squared. He’s a graduate of Davidson College.
dana tucker grew up in Florida but has called Atlanta home
for 40 years. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was a finance major. She works at 5th 3rd Bank as a Middle Market Relationship Manager for commercial clients. Dana and her husband Bill were married in the Wilson Chapel in 1987 and have been members of Peachtree for 20 years. They have been residents of Sandy Springs for 30 years. Their grown children, Colin and Haley, were confirmed at Peachtree and grew up attending student ministries within the church. Dana began her service at Peachtree through the Hospitality Ministry, volunteering as a greeter and subsequent Usher Captain for various Sunday morning services. She is actively engaged in Women’s Bible Study, Missions, Red Dot, Zacchaeus Fellows, Spiritual Formation, and Become Ministries. In the broader community, Dana has served as a volunteer or board level officer on a wide variety of non-profit philanthropies including: Camp Kudzu, Urban Recipe, Habitat for Humanity, Theological Horizons at the University of Virginia and as an active mentor of Finance Students at the University of Tennessee. Dana is excited about the opportunity to further serve God’s plan for her at Peachtree while growing in her faith through her time on the Session.
michael wren is a native of Tucson, Arizona but grew up
in north Alabama. He is a graduate of Auburn University. Mike retired from a multi-national company providing tax-leveraged financing for Fortune 500 companies. He and his wife, Elise, have three adult children and two amazing grandchildren. They have been members at Peachtree Church since 1985. Mike is co-President of the Credence Sunday Morning Belong Community, Table Leader at IRONMEN, and an active member of the Intercessory Prayer Committee, where he sends out a weekly prayer email. He has previously served on the Session.
elizabeth zielinski joined Peachtree 15-years ago,
shortly after marrying her husband Clay. She grew up in Savannah and graduated from Georgia Tech. Elizabeth and Clay teach children’s Sunday school and have traveled with Peachtree to the Holy Land and Cuba, visiting mission partners. Elizabeth serves as a Stephen Minister. After a career in financial services, she recently became a stay-athome mom to their two daughters, Emilia (8) and Cora (6).

1. Electing the Elder Class of 2025 2. Electing the 2023 Elder Nominating Committee; 3. Formally naming the Human Resources Committee as a Pastor/ Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (should the need arise); 4. Receiving the 2021 Annual Report; 5. Concurring with the request of the Reverend Dr. Barry Gaeddert to dissolve the pastoral relationship.
