CONGREGATIONAL MEETING TODAY The Session of Peachtree has called a Congregational Meeting as a part of our worship service for the purpose of electing the Elder Class of 2024, electing the 2022 Elder Nominating Committee, formally naming the Human Resources Committee as a Pastor/Associate Pastor Nominating Committee (should the need arise), and receiving the 2020 Annual Report.

ELDER NOMINEES Deborah Ashendorf and her husband Bruce joined Peachtree in 1981 and have made lasting friendships through Sunday school membership for many years, most recently in the Credence class. They have two adult children: Taylor, recently married to Becca, and Anne, married to Zack Usilton, who have daughters, Caroline and Lanier. It is her special joy to see her granddaughters embrace the Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings. Deborah is currently involved with Women’s Ministry on Thursday mornings as a table facilitator and serves as a Mentor Mom in the MOPS Ministry. She has served three terms as an elder, chaired the Sacraments Committee, and served on the Elder Nominating Committee. She is a loyal University of Georgia grad and serves as House Corporation President for Tri Delta in Athens. Rick Barnes and his wife Nancy are native Atlantans and have been members of Peachtree since 1981, joining the church soon after their marriage. Their son, Eric, was baptized by Dr. Harrington and grew up at Peachtree. Rick and Nancy have taught Children’s Sunday school, served on Parent’s Council, and served as President of their Sunday school classes six times over the years, including three times as President of the Credence Sunday Community. Rick is currently a Stephen Minister and served as a Cub Scout Leader and Boy Scout Leader in the Tucker area for over 15 years. He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and a horticulturist currently working as a Consulting Arborist for SavATree, a national tree care company.

Jennifer Batka has been a member of Peachtree Church since 1991, when she moved to Atlanta to complete an internship for her bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. In the last 30 years, she has served in many different capacities in Children’s and Women’s Ministries. Currently, Jennifer is facilitating the Wednesday night Women’s Bible study and helping lead the Fuller Theological Seminary Cohorts at Peachtree for Spiritual Formation. She and her husband David have been married for 21 years, and they have two sons, Alex (17) and Evan (14) and Hershey, their Boykin Spaniel, who is Jennifer’s shadow. Along with raising her boys, Jennifer recently earned her two-year Spiritual Direction certificate and offers direction to those seeking a deeper walk with Jesus. She enjoys lingering over family dinners, long walks with Hershey, playing card games, swimming at the Chastain pool, and talking about Jesus. Steve Bush is a Georgia native who attended Auburn University. He is also a graduate of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Steve and his wife Katie have been active members of Peachtree since 2005. They have three daughters, Kaki (15), Julie Anne (15), and Laura Grace (11), who have all been baptized at Peachtree. Liz Head and her husband Hugh have been members of Peachtree since 2010. Liz grew up attending First Presbyterian Church of Elberton, Georgia, with her family and was baptized there. Returning to the Presbyterian Church as an adult was a bit of a homecoming. Liz graduated from the University of Georgia and Harvard Business School. She worked for 15 years in investment banking and operations management before making the decision to move to the nonprofit sector. She now serves as the operations director for Orchard, an organization that inspires Christ-followers to launch and lead organizations serving those in need. Liz is a member of the Explorers Belong Community and welcomes prospective church members through Exploring Peachtree. She has served on the Elder Nominating Committee, as a Younique coach (her two-word calling is “Extracting Authenticity”), and as a children’s Sunday school teacher. She serves as social chair of the Builders Sunday morning community and tutors at LaAmistad. Angela is the director of Marketing for the Building & Construction Division of Arconic and holds a master’s degree in mass communications from the University of Georgia and has a BA in journalism from the University of Mississippi.
