EASTER GIFT
Every year on Easter Sunday, Senior Pastor Dr. Vic Pentz shares a gift with the Peachtree community. Today’s gift, a miniature sandal, reminds us that we are truly followers of Jesus. Like the people in first century Palestine, Jesus invites us not simply to adhere to an idea or a set of principles, but to actually get on our sandals and follow. Together, let’s walk the walk. “Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them.” —Luke 24:13–15
The church in Iraq may be the longest continuous community of believers on Earth. Their heritage traces to the first century. Now, most of them have no home, as the terrorist group ISIS has been threatening the existence of the church in Iraq and throughout the Middle East. Hundreds of thousands of people, many from the city of Mosul, have been driven from their homes into refugee camps.

For over a decade, Peachtree has been supporting Christians in the Middle East through our partner organizations. Today our Easter offering supports the thousands of Christians fleeing their homes in Iraq and Syria.
@ “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.” —1 Corinthians 12:26–27
Put cash or checks in the Easter offering envelope and drop in the plate. If giving by check, write the word “easter” in the memo.

Jesus’ movement is not doing well these days. In many places where his name appears, Jesus’ people lack their founder’s passion. Where do we go to get it back? Let’s go to the source — the person of Jesus. Today, as we launch an 11-week spring series, we become a face in the crowds of the gospel stories. Watch Jesus’ dazzling people skills as he loves people and makes them believe there is actually a God who knows us. Take a walk with Jesus. Would you have followed him?
