Draw Us in the Spirit’s Tether  Harold W. Friedell

Draw us in the Spirit’s tether; For when humbly, in thy name, Two or three are met together, Thou art in the midst of them: Alleluia! Alleluia! Touch us now thy garment’s hem. As the brethren used to gather, In the name of Christ to sup, Then with thanks to God the Father, Break the bread and bless the cup, Alleluia! Alleluia! So knit thou our friendship up. All our meals and all our living, Make as sacraments of thee, That by caring, helping, giving, We may true disciples be. Alleluia! Alleluia! We will serve Thee faithfully.

Read the whole Bible in a year for only 10 to 15 minutes a day! The Bible can seem like an intimidating book to read. Perhaps you’ve wanted to read the whole Bible but get bogged down and overwhelmed, not knowing how to get started or how to keep going. The Read the Book plan will email the reading selections to you each morning, for you to read at your convenience—on your computer, a tablet, or your phone. Read while waiting in line or between appointments. No links to click or sites to visit. Only the simple, pure, powerful and eternal Word of God. Read the entire Bible in about 10–15 minutes a day with three to four chapters in your inbox, or read the New Testament in about 5 minutes a day with a single chapter in your inbox, five days a week. peachtree-church.org/readthebook

CELEBRATE THE SACRAMENT The Communion Prayer Pastor: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Pastor: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them up to the Lord. Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Pastor: It is right, and a good and joyful thing to give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. We enter this New Year mindful of the grace that has surrounded us and sustained us in the year gone by. We gather at your table confident and hopeful that your grace will meet us in days yet to come. Our times, O God, are in your hand. We ask you now to pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here, and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body and blood of Christ that we, as your people, may be the presence of Christ in the world. All glory and honor be yours, O God, both now and forever. Amen.

“I am the bread of life. All who come to me shall not hunger, and all who believe in me shall never be thirsty.” —John 6:35

Words of Institution/Distribution of the Bread & Cup To symbolize our individual experience of God’s grace, please partake of the bread* as it is served. To symbolize our common experience together of God’s grace, please retain the cup until all have been served. * The communion bread was made gluten free but not cut in a dedicated facility.

Unison Prayer of Thanksgiving Gracious and loving God, you have made us one in the body of Christ, and nourished us at your table with holy food and drink. Thank you for feeding our hunger and relieving our thirst. Now send us into the world to do the work you have given us to do: to find the lost and lonely, to heal broken souls, to free prisoners, and to love in Jesus’ name. Grant us strength to persevere in resisting evil, and to proclaim in all we say and do your good news in Christ Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Join a community group and take a six-week journey through the book of James, using selected scripture readings and engaging discussion materials from Bill Hybels’ study, Live Wisely. You’ll meet in a group of your choosing, among women’s groups, men’s groups, young adult groups, couples groups and larger community groups. Groups will meet weekly for 1.5 hours beginning the week of Feb. 2 and lasting until mid-March. Day of the week and time will be different for each group. Small groups typically have 5-12 people. Young Adult groups are for those between the ages of 22-35. Red dot community groups can be larger, with up to 25 people among those living in the same general area, and they will typically be inter-generational. Larger community groups provide both large group and small group interaction. peachtree-church.org/communitygroups
