Now Thank We all Our God - #9 Lighting of the Candles Placement of the Bible
Whose precious blood redeemed me, at such tremendous cost. Thy righteousness, Thy pardon, Thy precious blood must be My only hope and comfort, my glory and my plea.
I could not do without Thee, I cannot stand alone. I have no strength or goodness, no wisdom of my own. But Thou, beloved Savior, art all in all to me, And weakness will be power if leaning hard on Thee.
Prayer of Confession Gracious and loving God, your love for us found its highest expression in acts of self-giving and sacrifice. You gave your Son to the world. Your Son gave his life to atone for our sin, and even now you give your Spirit that we might respond to your love in obedience and gratitude. Forgive our refusal to love others sacrificially. We are quick to receive and slow to offer the kind of love that was freely offered to us. Pour out your Spirit and change us in these moments as we offer our silent prayers of confession . . .
I could not do without Thee, O Jesus, Savior dear; E’en when my eyes are ‘holden, I know that Thou art near. How dreary and how lonely this changeful life would be Without the sweet communion, the secret rest with Thee.
I could not do without Thee, for years are fleeting fast, And soon in solemn loneness, the river must be passed. But Thou wilt never leave me, and though the waves roll high, I know Thou wilt be near me, and whisper, “It is I.”

TODAY IN WORSHIP
Most Mother’s Day tributes are about the impact our moms have on us. Often we overlook the impact children have on their mothers. Moms pay a huge life-altering price in their role of raising a child. One described it as “the total and virtual annihilation of self.” Yes, a mother’s work is never done. Yet beneath the worry and stress and diapers and sleeplessness is a strange and abiding joy. Our Isaiah text reminds us in a beautiful way that a mother does God’s work on earth. What’s the saying? “God created mothers so he could be everywhere all at once.”

TEMPLE Ironically, much of our current culture’s seeming love for the body is a version of an ancient heresy, the denial of the body. The Gnostics espoused the early church heresy of believing in the mind, but not the body. Because the body was nothing, they believed it was disposable - they could do anything and it didn’t matter. The Bible, however, teaches that we don’t have a body, but that we are a body, made in God’s image.

STUDENT MISSION TRIPS Nashville Summer Trip ~ July 13-18 (Grades 7 - 8) We are going on an incredible trip to serve in Nashville. Partnering with the Center for Student Missions, we will be serving in homeless shelters, making meals for people, and distributing clothes. Join us as we become the hands and feet of Jesus. Chicago Mission Trip ~ July 13-19 (Grades 9-12) We have the opportunity to travel to Chicago for our domestic mission trip hosted by the Center for Student Missions. While in the city, we will come face to face with the “least of these,” as we learn more about poverty in the city of Chicago and are given opportunities to serve those in need. City Plunge ~ July 24-26 (Grades 5 - 6) Downtown Atlanta has some great attractions like the zoo and the aquarium, but Fifty6ers will get a chance to see the city in a different light. As we serve with our various ministry partners in the city, Fifty6ers will get a fun, challenging, and quick entrance into what it means to serve those in need.
