Imprisoned for Faith About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose. - Acts 16:25-26 Embark on a chilling journey inside one of the world’s darkest and most dangerous places: Evin, the notorious Tehran prison. Here, prisoners are routinely tortured, abused, and violated. Executions are frequent and sudden. But for two Christian women imprisoned 259 days—Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh—this hell on earth was a place of unlikely grace. As these two prisoners of faith reflected God’s love and compassion to their fellow prisoners and guards, Evin would become the only church many of them had ever known. This morning we welcome Maryam and Marziyeh to worship. The book detailing their ordeal, Captive in Iran, is available in the Williams Center and Lodge Lobby. Listen to their entire story at Kellett Chapel this evening at 5pm.
Pray for the Persecuted Church There are dozens of Iranian Christians being held inprisoned in Iran, including Pastor Saeed and Pastor Farshid being held in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison. Pray for strength and endurance for Saeed and Farshid, and that their persecutors may see Jesus in them. Pray for their families and for the government of Iran to release them.
Join us in Fellowship Hall for an opportunity to write a letter of support to Pastor Saeed and Pastor Farshid.
