CELEBRATION OF WORSHIP
Peachtree is a community of Jesus followers inviting people to follow God in heart, mind, and strength.
ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME Prelude Congregational Introit* Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation Prayer of Adoration*
GIVE PRAISE TO GOD Hymn of Praise** O for a Thousand Tongues to Sing (not in hymnal) Lighting of the Candles Placing the Bible Prayer of Confession Merciful God, we confess that we are too often hesitant in our prayers, slow to bring our needs and desires to you. You know our lives completely; you are able to do what is needed. And yet we have questioned your compassion and kindness toward us. As your children we are bold to bring our confession before you today. We come to you in prayer knowing that you are good. We ask for your grace, confident that you are eager to give it. We look to you as a loving father who wills our good and not our harm. Grant to us the gift of your Spirit that we might live as your thankful children in this world. Do so even now as we offer our silent prayers of confession… Assurance of God’s Forgiveness Congregational Response* Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee #21 (v. 3) Life of the Congregation**
Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Offering Our Gifts Be Thou My Vision John Rutter Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart, Be all else but naught to me, save that thou art; Be Thou my best thought in the day and the night, Both waking and sleeping, Thy presence my light. Be Thou my wisdom, be Thou my true word, Be Thou ever with me, and I with Thee, Lord; Be Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son; Be Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise: Be Thou mine inheritance now and always; Be Thou and Thou only the first in my heart: O Sovereign of heaven, my treasure Thou art. High King of heaven, Thou heaven’s bright Sun, O grant me its joys after victory in won; Great heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be Thou my vision, O Ruler of all. “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.” — Oswald Chambers We want every ministry in our church to flourish in the rich soil of prayer. And since a praying church is made up of praying people, we want to encourage you to find a way to be actively involved in the prayer ministry of Peachtree. Consider: • Signing up for a time in our prayer room (across from room 3303) to pray for specific needs in our congregation. • Coming to the weekly prayer gathering that takes place every Thursday at noon in the prayer room. • Joining the Wednesday Night Prayer meetings that take place in the Lodge on the first Wednesday of each month (our next gathering is on October 7 at 7:05 pm). • Pray for specific ministries in our church— especially ministries that you are already involved in. Contact Mark Crumpler at markcrumpler@ peachtreepres.org for details.
Receive a daily reading from Ken Boa’s Handbook to Prayer in your inbox through our Daily Devotional email. Fill out and drop this card in the offering plate during worship.
