CELEBRATION OF WORSHIP

Peachtree is a community of Jesus followers inviting people to follow God in heart, mind, and strength.

ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME Prelude

Life of the Congregation**

Congregational Introit* Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation

Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Prayer of Adoration*

GIVE PRAISE TO GOD

Hymn of Praise** Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty  #1 Lighting of the Candles Placing the Bible Prayer of Confession Merciful God, from creation you gave us work to do, inviting us to join you and your work in the world. With the first sin, our work became a burden. We lost our sense of calling. We exchanged the gift of a vocation for the daily task of making a living. We confess that we often do our work without joy and without meaning. Forgive us, and restore to us what was lost so long ago. Teach us to serve you with our work, living each day as co-creators with you in every task. Prepare us now for the work that awaits us this week as we continue our confession in silence… Assurance of God’s Forgiveness Congregational Response* Go to the World!

Those who are able, please stand. Ushers will seat latecomers at this time.

Hymn of Response* God of This City  Not in hymnal Invitation and Benediction* Postlude

M. Roger Holland, II

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not So much seek to be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it’s in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it’s in dying that we are born to eternal life.

The beautiful flowers in the Sanctuary this morning are given to the glory of God and in Loving Memory of: William N. Blake by his wife, Ellen, and his daughter and her husband, Virginia and Matt Maguire

If your young child needs attention during worship, live broadcasts of the service are available in the Williams Center and the Family Room off of the Williams Center.

NEW SERMON SERIES Has the idea of prayer ever left you feeling inadequate or confused? Does it seem like the Christian life promises more than it delivers? How do we actually experience intimacy with God? Prayer is supposed to be central to the Christian life, but it can seem difficult to practice or even understand. Yet God’s presence is right here, closer than we ever dreamed — as near as our own breath. Like in Michelangelo’s famous image, all we have to do is lift a finger. A new six-week sermon series starts next Sunday, September 13.
