W I L M S L OW Set in the heart of Wilmslow, this new development offers one, two and three bedroom apartments within a building designed to complement the country manors of the surrounding landscape. The open-plan apartments allow natural light to spread through from the lounge into the kitchen and dining areas. Meanwhile, the deli, spa and gym give you the opportunity to pursue a sociable lifestyle, and the greenery of Cheshire is just outside your door.

TRADITIONAL DESIGN Cheshire’s Victorian vernacular has inspired Glenn Howells Architects to create a development that contributes to the architectural heritage of the area. The red brickwork rises to meet traditional gables and tiled roofs. Built over four floors, the height of the development is designed to complement, but never overshadow, the mature poplars, planes, yew and horse-chestnut trees that line the grounds. The 57 apartments are arranged within two connected pavilions and are thoughtfully laid out to make the most of light, space and charming views.

O N YO U R DOORSTEP Head downstairs to the deli for brunch, lunch or just to catch up on local events. Here you’ll find seasonal menus and local produce prepared by the chef and their team. Order one of the daily specials or grab a freshly made salad to take away. Then you can choose to relax in the hydrotherapy pool, head for a facial in the spa or get active with a session in the gym and stretch studio. With the range of wellbeing treatments on offer, it’s easy to spend the afternoon unwinding at home.

IMMERSED IN G R E E N E RY Wilmslow is known for its mature woodland, and Chapelwood stays true to that reputation: it’s arranged around extensive lawns and mature trees. The development feels private and quiet, despite being less than a mile from the centre of town. The mature trees are a diversity of yew, horse-chestnut, beech and cherry. The buildings are framed by sloping lawns planted with a wide variety of bulbs that provide an array of seasonal colours. Conservation is at the heart of the development too, which is why the grounds have roosts that provide a home for the bats that have lived here for many years.

LOCAL AREA Located on the edge of the Peak District and with convenient connections to Manchester, Wilmslow has become one of the most sought-after places to live in the UK. The town is populated with attractive red-brick buildings and leafy streets. A wide range of services, including independent coffee shops, delicatessens, a post office and a newsagent’s, are all within easy reach of Chapelwood. Wilmslow has a combination of well-known and independent stores, including Hoopers, the town’s very own department store. A weekly market offers the best artisanal goods and the Handforth retail park, which includes an M&S and a Tesco, is just outside the town. Neighbouring Cheadle Hulme has a John Lewis. There are many societies and organisations to get involved with, including theatre groups, choirs, and tennis and golf clubs. The Wilmslow Green Room Society is one of the oldest amateur dramatic societies in the UK and meets regularly in a former shirt-making factory in town.

T H E G R E AT OUTDOORS Early mornings are best spent on a bracing walk in the Cheshire countryside. The Carrs Park has verdant riverside and woodland walks, and there are footpaths that link it to Styal Country Park. Styal’s green copses and water features hide Quarry Bank Mill, now a red-brick museum that tells the story of the local cotton industry. If you prefer a more dramatic landscape, the Peak District National Park is just 20 miles away.

Introducing PegasusLife PegasusLife is a business on a mission to fundamentally rethink and reinvent the places and ways in which we live as we get older. The company is currently in the process of developing 30 sites across the UK.

Howard Phillips, Chief Executive Officer

John Nordon, Design Director

Our central idea is that everyone shares an aspiration to live independently within an intelligently designed, socially inclusive environment, supported by an intuitive service offer and an efficient and ethical approach to property management.

In the design team, our work is about creating imaginative places that foster natural interactions between neighbours.

Working in collaboration with the country’s leading designers, academics, creative thinkers and producers, we ensure that the highest level of detail and quality is brought to all aspects of our developments.

Our approach doesn’t follow a ‘cookie cutter’ style. No two PegasusLife developments are the same. Each one carefully conceptualises the history, architectural character, culture and personality of its location and, most critically, embodies the spirit of the people we believe will want to live in it. We make use of the highest-quality materials and craftsmanship – not just to create beautiful places for people to live, but to protect the future of our customers’ homes and investments. We take the architectural legacy of cities and towns seriously, and we prioritise developing sustainable buildings that are sympathetic to their surroundings.

76

CHAPELWOOD

Lorena Brown, Sales & Marketing Director

Clare Bacchus, Customer Experience Director

Our approach to selling is based very much on our core value of transparency. Many of our customers are moving from more traditional freehold family homes and won’t have lived in modern apartments set within communal developments before. There are significant advantages to this way of living; however, it is different. We see it as our responsibility to make sure not only that we’ve communicated what it’s about but also that our audience has understood it.

Our starting point in everything we do is the people who choose to live in our developments. What will they want to do here? What type and style of service is appropriate? What kind of living environment do we need to create to generate the right atmosphere and give people the experience they’re looking for? This philosophy goes right down to the level of detail of considering which plants to include in the gardens and which furnishings to use in the development. It extends through to the type of attitude we look for in the team we recruit to deliver a personal, informal and efficient approach to service.

One of the major hallmarks of our approach is the way we’ve considered property management – which we run on behalf of our residents on a not-for-profit basis. Furthermore, when customers purchase a property with PegasusLife, they become shareholders of the development’s management company, guaranteeing them voting rights and a say in how their development is managed.

W I L M S LO W

77

A unique approach to property management

78

CHAPELWOOD

When we talk about maintenance, we mean much more than a lick of paint or changing a light bulb (although we will, of course, take care of that too). The buildings and grounds come with a set of individual requirements for maintenance. This specific care ensures that your investment is secure and you can enjoy living in an environment that improves rather than deteriorates with age. From cleaning hardto-reach windows to looking after the mature trees, our approach is tailor-made and detail-oriented. The management company for Chapelwood is run on a strict notfor-profit basis. This ensures that work is carried out solely for the purposes of caring for the building and maintaining the quality of the offer and experience of living here for the residents. On purchasing a property at Chapelwood, homeowners automatically become shareholders of the management company, together with PegasusLife, giving you voting rights and a say in how the company is managed and run. When it comes to the operation of the management company, we believe passionately that true transparency is fundamental to maintaining residents’ peace of mind and the management company’s integrity. For this reason, we’ve invested in creating our own digital tool for property management – an online members-only system, which is designed to provide you with a detailed understanding of how your money is spent on servicing Chapelwood and to enable you to keep track of expenditure on, and investment in, the building over time.
