Message from General Manager
Resident Weeks There is no better time to experience all that the Golf Club has to offer. Join us for our special “Resident Weeks” scheduled from June 25-July 1 and July 23- 29. Residents may play golf for a special rate of $35 and enjoy all of the amenities at the Golf Club. Special events are planned during these weeks. Please contact Chris Pilgrim, Membership Director, at (239) 985-1742 for more information. Hurricane Season Preparedness Summer is a great time of year in Southwest Florida but is also the start of hurricane season on June 1, 2012. Make sure you’re prepared, especially if you plan to head North during the summer months. Refer to the NOAA website at www.nhc.noaa.gov for some great hurricane preparedness tips.
Summer Golf Programs
June 1 marks the beginning of the “Kids Play Free” summer program. From June 1 through September 30, 2012, young golfers ages 18 and under may enjoy complimentary rounds of golf Pelican Preserve Golf Club when accompanied by a paying adult. This annual program is our way of reaching out to every member of the family to help promote the great game of golf—moms, dads, daughters and sons alike. The program allows one child to play free for each paying adult. Parents may accompany more than one child in their group, but the second child would be subject to a nominal $20 Junior Guest Fee. It is also important to note that only two players are allowed per cart and golfers must have a valid driver’s license to drive a cart. Please call the Pelican Preserve Golf Shop to book your tee time at (239) 985-1707.
Welcoming a New Staff Member Please join us in welcoming Grissel “Gee Gee” Deleon as our newest addition to the Pelican Preserve Team. As Chris Pilgrim transitions to her new role as Membership Director, Grissel will fill the role of Administrative Assistant & Member Services. Grissel has an extensive background in administration and customer service and we are excited to welcome her to our team! Golf Course Maintenance Update Pelican Preserve Golf Club is now one month into our summer Golf Course Maintenance schedule. Ibis is scheduled to reopen on Monday, June 4 and Egret will close. Our first closing of Ibis was very successful as we completed aerifications of our greens on all three courses, Ibis greens were also verticut and “matawayed” (aggressive verticuting), and the Ibis fairways and roughs were aerified. You may notice some light scalping in the fairways, this normal as we have lowered the height of cut and performed some circle cutting which helps remove some of the grain. We plan to perform the same practices on the Egret course during its closure on June 4-17.
Security at Pelican Preserve Kent Security will be checking Residents and guests for wristband and ID cards on a more frequent basis. Please remember to bring your Resident wristbands or ID cards with you to the outdoor pool and various areas at the Town Center. If you are in need of a wristband, please inquire with the Staff at Soleil. Guest wristbands can be picked up at the Fitness Center as well.
