April Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Naloxone Training Monday, April 5, noon to 1:00 p.m. Virtual class Naloxone is a life-saving medication that is used to counter the effects of drugs like heroin and prescription narcotics. Join providers from Pen Bay Medical Center to learn how to use naloxone to save the life of anyone who is experiencing an opioid overdose. Breastfeeding Support Group Tuesdays, April 6 – 27, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Virtual meeting A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Alzheimer's Disease Support Group Tuesday, March 6, 6:00 p.m. Virtual Meeting The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Breastfeeding Basics Tuesday, April 6, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Virtual class This two hour class provides a pre-birth opportunity to ask questions and learn about breastfeeding and returning to work. Practicing Meditation Wednesday, April 7, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Virtual class Whether you have never meditated or are interested in re-starting your meditation practice, this class will support you as we practice together. Postpartum Support Group Thursdays, April 8 & 22, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual meeting This support group was created by a group of women and moms, who have gone through challenging postpartum experiences themselves and/or have been educated on them. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk, listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. This is a free group for moms, moms-to-be and family members who want to connect with others. The group meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. For more information, please call 505-4140. Eating Better on a Budget Mondays, April 12 – May 3, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Virtual class Want to learn how to prepare healthy foods on a limited budget? Join SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educators from Knox and Waldo counties for this free four-week class that will give you the skills to shop, cook and eat healthy foods while stretching your SNAP dollars and staying within your grocery budget. There will be recipe demonstrations at each fun and interactive virtual session. All participants will receive a colorful cookbook with 24 healthy, low-cost recipes and nutrition tips! Advance Care Planning Workshop Wednesday, April 14, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Virtual class Advance care planning is an organized process of reflecting upon and discussing goals for future health care decisions. It is an important part of creating an advance directive, which is a written plan that represents your individual preferences and tells others what medical care you want or do not want to receive if you become too ill in the future to tell them. Join trained advance care planning facilitator Vikki Swan for this online workshop where you will begin the process of filling out your advance directive.
