Consider these pages your invitation to take time to refresh, restore and have fun, all while enhancing your health and well-being. Whether you’re dancing the cha-cha, whipping up some scrumptious soups or learning to develop an attitude of gratitude, we guarantee our classes will help you become a healthier you! Registration Information How to Register Please visit journeytohealth.coursestorm.com. Classes are listed by the same categories you’ll find in this guide. Simply select the class you’re interested in, click “Register” and complete the registration information. Payment can be in the form of check, credit or debit card. Discounts are available online for seniors (age 65 and older) and veterans (those who served in the armed forces of the United States). Registration is required for all classes unless otherwise noted. If you need help registering for a class, have questions, need financial assistance or would like to request a family discount, please call 921-3950.

Join Registered Dietitian Marcy Kyle for this two-session hands-on cooking class focused on cooking tasty and easy-to-prepare foods that are diabetes and family-friendly. The class will cover diabetes cooking basics, like using herbs and spices to reduce sodium and fat, and will focus on plant-based options.

Kid-approved Halloween treats don’t have to be full of sugar. Bring your whole family to this healthy treat-making workshop with our Let’s Go! coordinators where you will have fun and make healthy Halloween goodies that are scary good. We promise you will have a spook-tackular time!

Healthy Eating & Cooking

Belfast United Methodist Church

Boost your healthy cooking confidence by learning a few chef basics like knife skills, seasoning tricks and how to perfectly sauté and roast vegetables, meats and more. You will leave with a full tummy and be ready to prepare your own healthy meals at home.

Did you know that aches and pains are often caused by poor posture? Join personal trainer Mirja Pitkin for this six-week class that will bring your body into balance while strengthening your muscles and leaving you feeling ready to shine each day.

The gifts of yoga – increased strength and flexibility, balance, meditation and deep breathing – are made accessible to all bodies when the class begins in a chair. Join Antonia Small, owner of ORYX WORX Fitness, for this eight-week beginner class designed to integrate yoga into your daily life and increase your sense of vitality.

Cha-Cha for Beginners ($20 individuals/$30 couples) Catch dance fever with us! Sign up for the cha-cha, a playful, energetic Latin dance that will get your heart pumping and put a smile on your face. In this four-week beginner class you will learn a simple routine you can dance at weddings, parties or even in your own living room!

Experience the mood-lifting power of music and dance in this four-session class with instructor Katie Tranzillo. Participants are encouraged to bring a friend, family member or caregiver to join in the fun for free.

FREE CLASS Journey to Health Walking Club Looking for a group activity for that extra support to get up and go? Join Community Health & Wellness staff for weekly walks in Knox and Waldo counties, weather permitting. Walk with us as often as you can. All are welcome. No registration required.

Are you looking for an activity to channel your child’s abundance of energy? If so, sign them up for this class with Master Randy Gelo. Not only will your child have fun, but he or she will learn self-discipline as well as how to work with others. No previous martial arts experience required.

Each hour-long class will help you stretch and strengthen your muscles, gain flexibility, improve balance, reduce stress, improve joint mobility and relax. No yoga experience required.

Join this six-week class to relieve some of the physical and emotional stresses brought on during pregnancy.

FREE CLASS Stretch Around Come join this gentle, interactive class designed for older adults and those with physical limitations. This class utilizes Matter of Balance, chair yoga and Brain Gym® exercises to help maintain strength, balance and coordination. Facilitated by Marshall Mittnick and Carolyn Pressley. Drop-in class, no registration required.

Join our Community Health & Wellness staff for this three-session class to explore the health benefits of gratitude and learn practical tools to help us cultivate a healthier, more grateful life.

You can set yourself free! This three-session group tobacco cessation program uses hypnotherapy to help you take charge of your health and your life by becoming tobacco-free. In this program you will explore and identify what personal needs are satisfied by tobacco, learn how to overcome triggers for using tobacco and increase your confidence in your new tobacco-free life.

FREE CLASSES Embrace the Seasons Want to stay healthy and happy this season? Join Rhonda Feiman, licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, to learn Chinese medicine practices and Qi-gong movements that can help strengthen the immune system and support emotional and physical balance.

Are you trying to adopt healthier habits but don’t know where to start? Group health coaching may be just the right tool to set you off on your journey to better health. In this six-session class, your health coach will help you identify your health priorities, determine pathways to success and provide that extra encouragement and support to help you achieve your goals!

Yoga Nidra is a guided deep relaxation meditation that helps reduce stress and heal physical, mental and emotional imbalances. Krishna Peter Perry, co-founder of ShivaShakti School of Yoga and Healing Arts, will lead students as they lie down to rest their bodies and minds in the deep restorative practices of Yoga Nidra.

Join Elizabeth Yori, ND, of Belfast Natural Medicine for this two-session class to learn breathing techniques to increase your oxygen intake, lower your blood pressure, promote relaxation and better sleep, and increase your ability to manage stress.
