July Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Breastfeeding Support Group Mondays, July 1 – 29, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Every Monday, please call ahead if it falls on a holiday) Waldo County General Hospital, Women & Infants Unit, Ground Floor 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast Meet other new mothers who are breastfeeding. The group offers support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers from certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors. Siblings are welcome. Cancer Support Group Tuesdays, July 2 and 16, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Oncology & Infusion Therapy, Waldo County General Hospital 116 Northport Avenue, Ludwig Medical Building, Belfast This group is for cancer patients at any stage – newly diagnosed, currently in treatment and long-term survivors. A cancer diagnosis can be scary and can feel isolating; support groups offer a network of comfort, recognition and guidance. The group is facilitated by Ashley Hoffmann, LSW and Claudia B. Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting Tuesday, July 2, noon to 2:00 p.m. (First Tuesday of each month) Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden Members of the Parkinson’s Support Group invite everyone living with Parkinson’s, as well as their family members and caregivers, to its 15th annual indoor barbecue! Bring your favorite picnic salad or side, beverage or dessert to contribute to the potluck spread. $5 per person, payable at the door, for burgers and hotdogs. Mother’s Milk Support Group Tuesdays, July 2 – 30, 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. or 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Pen Bay Medical Center, Chapel Room, 6 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport A support group for breastfeeding families. The informal group provides interaction as well as individual assistance when needed. Women wanting more information about breastfeeding are also welcome. Trail Talk Tuesday, July 9, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Moose Point State Park, 310 West Main Street, Searsport Walkers and joggers of all fitness levels are invited to come together with clinical team members from Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital to exercise and learn about the many health benefits of being active. Whether you are new to exercise, considering training for a 5k or an avid runner, this group is for you. Families are welcome; children must be accompanied by an adult. Managing Chronic Pain Wednesday, July 10, 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Penobscot Shores, Ocean House, 10 Shoreland Drive, Belfast Whether caused by fibromyalgia, joint disorders, nerve damage or other conditions, living with pain is not for the faint of heart. In this program, pain specialist Susan M. Hage, DO of WCMP Physical and Integrative Medicine will offer a better understanding of how pain works, what helps and what doesn’t. In addition, Dr. Hage will offer tips and creative options that may help ease the day-to-day challenges of living with persistent pain. Free and open to adults age 50-plus.
