June Events Pen Bay Medical Center & Waldo County General Hospital Cardiac Rehab 5K Saturday, June 2, Registration is at 9:30 a.m, walk at 10:00 a.m. Belfast Area High School at 98 Waldo Avenue, Belfast Join Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital for the seventh annual celebration of wellness and success of our cardiac rehab patients. All are welcome and invited to the walk. There is no entry fee but donations will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Cardiac Rehab scholarship funds. Please register by calling 505-4745. Breastfeeding Support Group Mondays, June 4 – 25, 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. (Every Monday, please call ahead if it falls on a holiday) Waldo County General Hospital, Women & Infants Unit, 1st Floor 118 Northport Avenue, Belfast Meet other new mothers who are breastfeeding. The group offers support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers from certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors. Siblings are welcome. Noon Yoga Mondays, June 4 – 25, noon to 1:00 p.m. Knox Center, 6 White Street, Rockland Escape and refresh on your lunch break with our certified yoga instructors in this gentle yoga class. Each hour-long class will help you stretch and strengthen your muscles while you reduce stress and recharge for the rest of your day. No yoga experience required. $25 registration fee is required. Cancer Support Group Tuesdays, June 5 & 19, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Oncology & Infusion Therapy, Waldo County General Hospital 116 Northport Avenue, Ludwig Medical Building, Suite 116, Belfast This group is for cancer patients at any stage – newly diagnosed, currently in treatment and long-term survivors. A cancer diagnosis can be scary and can feel isolating; support groups offer a network of comfort, recognition and guidance. The group is facilitated by Ashley Hoffmann, LSW and Claudia B. Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting Tuesday, June 5, noon to 2:00 p.m. (First Tuesday of each month) Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden Janelle Michaud of Medtronic returns with a second presentation on the use of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group Tuesday, June 5, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. (First Tuesday of each month) Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden The Alzheimer’s Support Group provides information and support to area residents who have loved ones coping with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. Hypnobirthing Wednesdays, June 6 – July 11, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Pen Bay Physicians Building, Conference Room C (June 27 class will be held in Conference Room D) 4 Glen Cove Drive, Rockport Mothers and their partners learn techniques for safe and satisfying birthing through guided imagery, visualization and special breathing. Family Caregiver Education & Support Group Thursday, June 7, noon to 1:00 p.m. Home Health Conference Room, 125 Northport Avenue, Belfast The group meets monthly and is for all family caregivers, including those caring for family members with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Sibling Class The Pen Bay Medical Center Birthing Center offers a free Sibling class by appointment only. Children will learn about newborns and how to interact with them.
