The group offers support and guidance to breastfeeding mothers from certified lactation consultants and certified lactation counselors. Siblings are welcome. More dates will be available in December. Cancer Support Group Tuesdays, November 5 and 19, 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Oncology & Infusion Therapy, Waldo County General Hospital 116 Northport Avenue, Ludwig Medical Building, Belfast This group is for cancer patients at any stage – newly diagnosed, currently in treatment and long-term survivors. A cancer diagnosis can be scary and can feel isolating; support groups offer a network of comfort, recognition and guidance. The group is facilitated by Ashley Hoffmann, LSW and Claudia B. Parkinson’s Support Group Meeting Tuesday, November 5, noon to 2:00 p.m. (First Tuesday of each month) Anderson Inn, Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden Catherine Slye, MA, Spectrum Generations’ aging and disability resource counselor, will shed light on the many free and often little-known resources and support services aimed at making life easier for older adults and those with debilitating conditions such as Parkinson’s. Financial assistance programs will be among the tools covered. Following Slye’s presentation, participants will celebrate National Family Caregivers Month by offering caregivers in attendance a variety of soul-nurturing surprises and treats. We offer a safe place for new and pregnant mothers and families to talk, listen, get support and gain education on postpartum experiences. Twomey, PhD, moved to a farm in remote Montville with his partner Leigh. In this inspiring, slide-illustrated talk based on his book, Retiring To, Not From, Twomey will share the joys and challenges they have discovered in their commitment to living simply and sustainably as stewards of their land.
