Pen Bay Healthcare & Waldo County Healthcare Healthy Basics with Chef MiMi McGee Wednesdays, September 30 - October 21, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Picker Family Resource Center
Healthy foods, recipes and meals can be easy, convenient, affordable and delicious. Join chef and Food For Life instructor MiMi McGee to learn practical cooking, meal planning and grocery shopping skills and tips. The series will focus on low-budget ways to eat healthy and includes the following sessions: • Wednesday, September 30: The Power Plate, focusing on general concepts behind healthy eating habits. • Wednesday, October 7: How Foods Fight Diabetes. • Wednesday, October 14: Foods for a Healthy Weight. • Wednesday, October 21: How Foods Fight Heart Disease. In addition, students will be invited to participate in an optional tour of a local grocery store (date to be determined) for tips on healthy food shopping. Class cost is by donation; suggested donations are $15 per session or $50 for the series. Family Caregiver Education & Support Group Thursday, October 1, Noon to 1:00 p.m. Home Health Conference Room, 125 Northport Avenue, Belfast
The group meets monthly and is for all family caregivers, including those caring for family members with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Come share your wisdom and experiences with other people who are caregivers, while learning more about how you can do the job effectively and keep yourself healthy at the same time.
