MANCHESTER CAMERATA IN COLNE Sunday 21 September
BENEDETTI PLAYS VIVALDI
Our 2014/15 journey begins with a trademark Camerata programme of contrast, this time of religious and worldly inspiration. Joined by one of the world’s most phenomenal violinists, Scottish-born Nicola Benedetti, Camerata's Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy will lead the orchestra in Vivaldi’s well-known masterpiece, The Four Seasons, and one of Elgar’s personal favourites, the Serenade for Strings. And then silence. Experience the stilling and film-like sound of Silouan’s Song - a breath-taking hymn for string orchestra, performed in near-darkness and written by the famed Estonian contemporary composer and Camerata favourite, Arvo Pärt. _____________________________________
Sunday 23 November
FOUR SEASONS AND FIVE SENSATIONS
‘…it was thrilling to hear and watch Nicola Benedetti in a truly risk-taking performance that lived so much in the body and fused the sinews of the violin and the nerve-system of the player.’
Young Lithuanian accordion sensation, Martynas Levickis, brings an astonishingly diverse programme to Colne. An amazing crossover artist, Martynas’ latest album spans the music of Vivaldi to Beyoncé and he joins Manchester Camerata’s Principal Musicians for a fiery and dynamic programme of Piazzolla, Vivaldi, Bach and Boccherini. _____________________________________

PAUL CHOWDHRY
Host of Channel 4's ‘Stand Up For The Week’ and star of BBC1's ‘Live at the Apollo’, Paul Chowdhry is back in 2014 with his biggest tour to date. PC may be his initials, but the relentless world he lives in definitely isn't. The Lafta funniest stand-up award winner of 2013 tackles everything borderline within the human psyche. Why is the offensive behaviour of one person considered humorous by others? Paul will address this issue along with such diverse subjects as the art of attracting women, jokes cut from his TV appearances, non-existent customer services and the now infamous 1980s in his own inimitable uncompromising style. It’s time to enter PC’s world. ‘Dangerous comic genius’ - Eastern Eye ‘Revives distant memories of Richard Pryor at his relentless best’ - The Times
