Our 2014/15 journey begins with a trademark Camerata programme of contrast, this time of religious and worldly inspiration. Joined by one of the world’s most phenomenal violinists, Scottish-born Nicola Benedetti, Camerata's Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy will lead the orchestra in Vivaldi’s well-known masterpiece, The Four Seasons, and one of Elgar’s personal favourites, the Serenade for Strings.

THE CHRISTIANS

Renowned for an endless string of soulful, yet socially aware, hits including ‘Forgotten Town’, ‘Ideal World’, ‘Born Again’, ‘Harvest for the World’, ‘What’s in a Word’ and ‘Hooverville’ to name a few The Christians enjoyed huge acclaim in the late 80s and early 90s.

Premier performances of six compositions by some of the UK’s best young choral composers will be given by the award-winning mixed voice choir, KVU Singers.

Soloist for the evening is the orchestra's own Patricia Chippendale on oboe, celebrating 60 years as a playing member with Colne Orchestral Society.

Joe has deservedly earned himself a very special place in live entertainment playing sell-out shows in the UK, USA and Australia throughout his dazzling career and receiving gold and platinum discs for his albums.

PANTOMIME SLEEPING BEAUTY

Timeless magic will be sprinkled over Colne as the Muni welcomes ‘Sleeping Beauty’ - a musical pantomime written, directed and produced by George Critchley for PMA Productions Ltd. The first pantomime version of ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ was performed at Drury Lane in 1806. Two centuries later, PMA Productions take on the story.

A magical castle deep in the dark forest, a handsome prince, a beautiful sleeping princess, a fairy and a very wicked witch, are all the traditional ingredients for this famous, favourite fairytale.
