When I commenced as Principal of Penrhos College in 2021, I joined a wonderful school, built on a strong foundation and with much to be proud of.
Nevertheless, with a changing world context, and ever-increasing demands on our adults and young women, it was time to reflect, and reassess.
The imperative was simple:
To understand what we needed to do to build a school of the future.
To do this, we had to look both outside and within – at what the world, and our key stakeholders will need from us, as well as at our existing strengths and how to build on them.
We needed to develop a compelling vision and purpose.
We needed to understand how we could bring that vision to life, in real, tangible terms.
And we needed to bring our community along the journey and seek their input.
Fortunate to already have a wonderful, engaged and supportive school community, we knew they’d be excited and ready to roll up their sleeves to work in partnership and collaboration to develop a way forward for all of us.
What we heard during this process - from staff, students, families and other members of the extended Penrhos family - both delighted and sometimes surprised us. It showed us while we have long been on the right track, that there was an opportunity to build on our success by evolving our strategy.
This work has led to unprecedented levels of engagement and collaboration within our College community, and I am thrilled and proud to share our new strategic direction with you.
As we worked together to create a Penrhos for the future, taking into consideration our past, and our goals for the future, one thing became abundantly clear. At Penrhos -

Relationships are at the foundation of our success. We value a strong community to inspire, bring strength, and to act as role models, and sources of support and guidance to our girls.
We work with students, families, staff, alumni and other partners to build student and community connections.
We will inspire belonging through nurturing relationships, within and across cohorts and communities
We will deepen our commitment to celebrating and amplifying our alumni relationships, and support the alumni community in expanding and celebrating their own connections
We will establish a Year 12+ alumni program, to support those relationships from the start
CREATE
We build learning adventures for life.
We create learning adventures where Penrhosians explore their passions and realise their full potential.
Our students will be creative thinkers, supported by creative staff and partners in an environment that supports and inspires creativity.
We grow creative learning and industry partnership opportunities for our students.
We will develop a strategy to revolutionise personalised learning, redefining the curriculum to support the individual needs of all our students
We will strengthen existing and develop new partnerships with university and industry, exploring revolutionary educational opportunities
We will establish an honours extension program, giving students opportunities to excel in their strengths and passions
We will commence implementation of a master and refurbishment plan, developing infrastructure to support current and future learning needs
SOAR
We advance a culture of learning and growth.
We elevate the skills and talents of our people in a creative, high growth learning environment.
The Penrhos team will be selected, supported and inspired to deliver the very best experiences and outcomes for our girls.
We empower and grow our team.
We will develop an impactful staff wellbeing program, ensuring our staff are supported to work, and lead by example
We will empower staff growth through a revised and holistic professional learning program, delivering opportunities and support to develop skills and abilities
We will review and reimagine our recruitment process, to ensure we support diverse applicants, with the view to ensuring our students receive the most rounded education
BLAZE
We empower positive rebels to lead the way.
We ignite and guide courageous, curious and passionate rebels who challenge convention for the greater good.
To blaze a trail is exciting and requires courage to challenge the status quo.
To support this, we redefine the pathways to resilience.
We will strengthen student voice and positive activism by supporting them to consider all possibilities and take action where they can
We will implement a ‘blaze your trail’ program, which will give our girls the tools to develop and maintain the strength of character, and perseverance needed to achieve their dreams and ambitions
We will teach brave behaviours, to help our girls gain the courage to be positive rebels
We will pursue justice, reconciliation and peace through service and advocacy – both within the Penrhos community and outside of it
IMPACT
We forge new futures in girls’ education.
We transform learning so Penrhos is recognised globally as a leader in girls’ education.
We have an excellent track record of making a strong positive impact on our students and their families – which reaches beyond academic achievement, and into all aspects of life. We will continue to do this, while working to connect with broader groups, facilitating their connection with us and one another, to enable us to make a tangible difference to their lives.
We will amplify our school’s exploration, discovery and sharing.
We will connect Penrhos with the broader community and serve others through partnership and collaboration
We will become the global connector for other schools and be global ambassadors for leadership and change, expanding our horizons and those of our girls
We will create partnerships for forging girls’ education through a culture of giving, ensuring we can all be forces for good
