You Are Invited to Celebrate Pentik’s 50-year Journey! Pentik is a story about a will and skill, about unquenchable passion for life and art. Pentik is a story about family, friendship and about the power of working together. Pentik is a story about the nature of Lapland and longing for beauty. About a way of life. But above all, Pentik is a story about the ability to challenge oneself, about rising to even greater heights and being reborn again and again. That is why Pentik has embellished houses and captivated hearts for half a century. The year 2021 is truly special for Pentik, as we are celebrating our 50-year journey while focusing on the future. Our amazing story began from Anu Pentikäinen’s dream, from clay and nature as bottomless springs of inspiration. We also wanted to bring a breeze of Nordic beauty to homes. Pentik’s Spring and Summer 2021 Collection offers a tempting start for the celebratory year. Next spring, we are mixing colours in a relaxed, fresh way. You are invited to spend the celebratory year with us!

Made in Posio SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY MADE WITH LOVE!
Posio, a small village close to the Arctic circle, has been the home of Pentik for half a century already. Here, in the northernmost ceramic factory, the products are made with exceptional reverence. The distinctive beauty of ceramics is born from the unquenchable elemental force of seasons and nature. Here, in the northernmost ceramic factory, clay is turned into something unique – a Finnish product made with love. On the surface of each product, you can see a piece of Pentik’s history, which houses both fulfilled dreams and those that had to be given up. Both sides belong to a life story, after all. A part of that story has been recorded in our products with the magic word ‘Made in Posio, Finland’. All products made in Posio ceramic factory have been granted the Finnish Key Flag and Design from Finland certifications.

Play with Kallio In the soft Kallio series designed by Anu Pentik, the steps for producing ceramics and the human touch can be seen. The natural dishes are simultaneously strong and gentle by nature, which you can experience from new perspectives time and time again. The multicoloured Kallio series is easy to play around with, and it is easy to combine with itself as well as with other dishes.

The Grand Kivi The ceramic Kivi jars designed by Anu Pentik have a coarse surface that captivates the gaze. The black and white jars are timeless, and they fit in many different dÊcors. A coarse jar and a lush plant combine into an eye-catching decoration, which doesn’t only bring joy, but it also improves the indoor air quality. Use the jar to plant fragrant herbs or a trendy fiddle-leaf fig. Kivi Jar 9 x 9 cm and 17 x 13 cm 10
The Delightful Elo The elegant Elo ceramics designed by Lasse Kovanen endure time and gazes. The simple and beautiful Elo jars have soft shapes, which are a perfect fit in cooking in addition to planting. Elo jars, much like the other Pentik’s ceramic products, have been made for use. You can safely put them to the oven, to the freezer and to the dish washer. Prepare a macaroni casserole or bake a no-knead bread in the beautiful Elo jar.
Elo Jar 14 x 11 cm and 19 x 16 cm 11
The Sculptural Arkki The classical and beautiful Arkki ceramics series is designed by our designer Lasse Kovanen. The series has a repeated geometrical shape that comes to life in light, just like a sculpture. The Arkki dishes are a great addition to both interior design and table settings. The timeless expression form makes it easy to combine these dishes with other collections. Fill the vase with spring flowers or assemble a fresh salad onto the Finnish bowl. Aurora DESIGN: MINNA NISKAKANGAS
The designer Minna Niskakangas describes her thoughts about the print’s design process as follows: ‘I dream of overflowing gardens, of terraces decorated with flowers. I dream about a morning coffee on a sunny porch. I wanted to design a plentiful flower print. I wanted to watercolour a joyful and sunny spring atmosphere. The flower motifs came from Persian buttercups, French hydrangeas, and branches of a cherry tree. I am inspired by a sweet-colour palette. I start with the different tones of yellow and combine them with both warm and cold tones of rose pink, blue green and a dash of lime and copper.‘ The word ’Aurora’ means dawn. As the dawn breaks, we start building up the fresh atmosphere of a garden in the early spring by combining furniture, vases, dried flowers, and blankets. The colourful candles and serving dishes made in Posio mix beautifully with the rose-coloured Kallio collection. Set your morning coffee on the Aurora tray and enjoy your coffee on the porch. Our trays are made in Öland, Sweden. Wrap yourself in the Solo cotton blanket and allow your thoughts to be free. Create the summer room of your dreams for spring and summer ahead of time!

Vaahtera DESIGN: LASSE KOVANEN
The blooming maple is filled up to the brim with the fresh greenery of waking spring! Vaahtera print has been painted with watercolours. It has an abundance of details, and yet the atmosphere remains calm, thanks to the restricted colour scheme. The super trendy green colour and maple tree’s fascinating springtime waking phase are in the spotlight. The print also includes brown tones, creating a colour pair that resembles the maple tree itself. ‘The vernal blooming of trees lasts only for a passing moment, but that makes it all more beautiful and touching. That feeling strengthens and sentimentalises time and time again. It is astonishing to notice that even if youth and fresh beauty last only but a moment, it is still eternal’, notes Lasse Kovanen, the designer of the print. The maple blooms at the end of May, around the same time the trees burst into leaf. The Norway maple is pollinated by insects, such as bees. The maple does not require anything special from its culture mediums. The older trees do, however, require more sun light. Vaahtera collection includes textiles for table setting, interior design and kitchen. Create your own springtime setting on top of Vaahtera print with Kallio dishes and Herttua glassware.

Mediterranean Snack Plate 4-6 servings 1 green asparagus bunch ½ honeydew melon ½ packet of grapes 1 packet (200 g) of highbush blueberries 2-3 kiwis 1 packet (200 g) feta cheese 1 packet (275 g) hummus 1 packet (100 g) salami snacks
1 packet (100 g) air-cured ham biscuits, grissini, baguette slices Marinated olives: 3 dl unpitted olives 1 lime 1 garlic clove 1 rosemary twig 2 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp honey

Raspberry Layer Cake with White Chocolate 15 servings
Filling
2 dl milk 150 g butter 100 g white chocolate 3 eggs 2 ½ dl sugar 5 dl plain flour 1 dl almond powder 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp vanilla sugar
200 g local raspberries 1 dl sugar 200 g quark cream Frosting 150 g white chocolate 2 dl whipping cream 2 tsp vanilla sugar Edible garden and wildflowers and macarons for garnish
Preheat the oven to 175°C. Bring the milk to the boil and melt the butter in the milk. Let the mixture cool down. Crush the white chocolate. Whisk the eggs and sugar until fluffy. Mix together flour, almond powder, crushed white chocolate, baking powder and vanilla sugar in a bowl. Add the milk and butter mixture and the flour mixture in turns into the egg and sugar mixture. Quickly whisk the mass into a smooth batter. Stretch out a sheet of baking paper into a springform pan (20cm in diameter) between the edge and the bottom. Grease the edges and the bottom of the pan lightly with rapeseed oil. Pour the batter into the pan. Bake the cake in the oven on the middle shelf for about 45 minutes. Check that the cake is baked with a cocktail stick: poke the centre of the cake with a stick. If the batter stays on the stick, continue baking the cake in five-minute intervals, until fully baked. Cover the top of the cake with a baking paper sheet in the oven, if the top darkens before it is baked. Allow the cake to cool. After the cake is cooled, cut it into three layers with a serrated knife. Crush the raspberries and ½ dl of sugar together in a bowl with a fork. Mix the quark cream and ½ dl of sugar together. Place the bottom cake layer on top of a serving dish. Spread half of the crushed raspberries and quark cream on top of the layer. Place the middle layer on top of the previous layer and spread the remaining raspberry and quark cream on top. Then, place the top layer of the cake on top. Cut up the white chocolate for the frosting into a bowl. Melt the chocolate in a microwave or in a bain-marie, let the chocolate cool. Whip the cream until fluffy, add vanilla sugar for flavour. Spread the whipped cream on top of the cake and around the edges. Pour the melted white chocolate on top of the cake. Garnish the cake with edible flowers from the garden and the wilderness and with macarons. 33

Kesän valoa ’The Summer Light on Rose Buds’ is a painting by the visual artist Paula Suominen to celebrate Pentik’s jubilee year. The bold oil painting has been immortalized in fabric, in which the natural light presents itself as rich, gentle summer light. The colourful collection emphasizes the rebirth of spring and early summer life, and the energy of summer. The bursting leaves, the opening buds and the summer brightness after the long winter is a true miracle and source of joy.

Orvokki DESIGN: MINNA NISKAKANGAS
The dancing strokes of the brush are a perfect way to describe the nature of the picturesque Orvokki. Our designer Minna Niskakangas painted the original piece on a plywood board with oil paint. The gentle expression of the print focuses around violas. The print’s different tones of pink, blue and purple are elegantly layered and interlocked. The overall look is both lively and relaxed at the same time. Viola typically have heart-shaped leaves and asymmetrical, five-petalled flowers. The word ‘violet’ comes from the French word ‘violette’. The small-printed Orvokki is fitting for both the summer cottage and the city apartment. The summery Orvokki comes in two different colour variations: blue and pink.
