People in Need Myanmar

People in Need is a Czech non-governmental organization providing relief and development assistance, while defending human rights and democratic freedom. People in Need started working in Myanmar in 1998, by providing assistance to members of civil society groups directly within the country, as well as on the Thai-Myanmar border, where hundreds of thousands of Myanmar´s refugees were residing. Our history in Myanmar is characterized by both humanitarian assistance (after Nargis) and human rights-based activities. In 2012, following the countries transition to a democratically led government, we established a permanent office in Yangon with the aim of gaining direct access to the beneficiaries and to deliver assistance to civil society organizations from within the country. Similarly, to ensure there is a greater impact from our work through closer collaboration with government and local authorities. The three main programs are Civil Society , Social Cohesion and Child Protection.
