Monday Morning Assembly

A Message to the Parents 9th October 2020

Dear Peponi House Parents, I hope you are all safe and well. Following the Government announcement earlier this week, the decision has been made to re-open Peponi Schools on Monday October 26th. This will be a phased process, in our case carried out over a couple of days. Please note however, that the Ministry of Education has still not officially confirmed that all classes will be allowed to return to school on that date, although this is widely expected to be the case. Should Government directives not allow all children to return we will operate a revised re-opening schedule, hopefully with some classes in school, as permitted, and some remaining at home. In those circumstances the online programme for classes not in school will continue. Whatever happens we are committed to continue educating Peponi House pupils effectively. When school has reopened it is understood that some of the children might not be able to return to school. We will endeavor to continue to deliver online learning for all pupils although this may well be in a modified fashion. It will certainly be a challenge to manage a full educational programme both at school and online, but we will do the best that we can. We hope to live stream some lessons and provide access to teachers, lesson notes, slides and power points as appropriate. The school facilitated online educational programmes will also be available and these will continue to supplement both in school and online teaching and learning. Please inform your child’s Form Teacher/Tutor if, for whatever reason, your child will not be returning to school at this time. Peponi Prep School re-opening plan: For next week, 12-16 October, the online teaching programme will continue. However, the taught afternoon lesson will not take place for all on Tuesday 13th, Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th. This is to allow teachers and staff to receive training and to prepare their classrooms and the school site. School is then closed for the Half Term holiday, Monday 19th to Friday 23rd October. School arrangements going forward from Tuesday 27th October will follow this same school day timings. Although the school day is slightly shorter for all, the educational programme will be very similar to that which everyone will be used to ‘in school’. This is because we have shortened the lunch break to one hour and some activities and Assemblies will not be taking place. The detail that accompanies this programme is contained within the returning to school General and Parental Guidelines document. The Question and Answer document also gives a little more detail. The headlines from those documents are: 1. We will do all that we can to ensure a safe environment and a school culture of care. Please support us in that goal. 2. Pupils should not come to school if they are at all unwell. We will look after them and send them home should they become unwell at school. 3. Pupils should bring snacks from home for morning break – ideally fruit. No sweets. 4. Lunch will be provided although there will be a limited menu. 5. Uniform to be worn except on days of sport. 6. All pupils need to wear masks and to observe social distancing. Rigorous hygiene and general cleaning regimes will be enforced. 7. School will only be open 7.30am – 4.20pm. 8. For the time being there will be no pre school nor after school activities. 9. Collection and drop off will be at the main school gate. Younger siblings may be dropped off/ collected with their elder brothers/sisters. 10. Teachers will share school timetables with their pupils when they are finalised. Please remember that it remains possible that these arrangements will need to be amended as new Government guidance is forthcoming. We are of course very excited by the prospect of having the children back in school. Whilst this will not be return to normality, it will be a most welcome step along that road. Thank you for your commitment in supporting the children and the school over these very difficult times. On a personal note I very much look forward to meeting the children and you all over the weeks and months ahead. I am sure the children are excited about the prospect of meeting up with their friends again too. With very best wishes, Yours sincerely,
