Our Peponi Scouts LENNOX AND JACK SCOUT CAMPING Lennox and Jack set up a camp and did a one night camping on one of the weekends during this lock down. They chose a site, prepared it, and pitched the tent. They chose what to eat, prepared the food and organised supplies for the night. They relaxed in the text and played cards, and slept a bit too late! The next morning they helped clear up and put everything away.

Top Trumps by Year 6
In science the Year 6 children finished their Space topic by making Top Trump cards for the different planets. (This was before the new topic of Plants and Photosynthesis started as you may have seen in my previous email) I asked the children to send me photos if they could and here are Japjot, Aariyana and Jake’s from 6G.

Runners Up 2020
The UK Swimming Championships sees 40 qualifying galas organised throughout the spring term with more than 400 schools entering the competition. The fastest 1500 swimmers are invited to the National finals at the London Aquatics Centre in June. Highlighted in gold are swimmers who qualified in the top three positions in their age group – an absolutely unbelievable achievement. You will notice Yannick, actually qualified as the fastest swimmer in his event and age group. Highlighted in light blue are swimmers who qualified in the top 10. Maintaining this position in the UK championships would have meant they qualified for a ‘potential’ final. Full results can be viewed on the IAPS Sport website Although it was disappointing that the national finals couldn’t go ahead this year, we hope that the qualifiers are proud of what they achieved! We are certainly proud of you all!

Congratulations to Pas ha who came 3rd in the Olympic Dream Ar t Competition.
Mr. Fisher’s Marathon Dear Peponi House Family, Many thanks to all of you who generously sponsored my ‘Virtual Lewa’ half marathon on Saturday. The race was a success, and I managed to finish in a time of 02.06, which was an improvement of 20 minutes on my personal best. A large part of this success was due to a pupil in my class, Milo Cooney, who joined us during the Karura Forest leg of the race. As many of you know, Milo is an incredible athlete. Trying to keep up with him inspired me to push myself to the absolute limit!
WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THIS RUN? To raise money for Ghetto Classics. During Term 2 last academic year, Mikayla Wissanji, a student in Year 8, organised the amazing ‘Breathe’ fund raising concert. I was lucky enough to perform in the school staff band. This was my first exposure to the amazing work done by Ghetto Classics in the Korogocho community. With encouragement from the ‘hardest working man in showbusiness’, Mr Wataka, Mr Heanley and I were lucky enough to visit Ghetto Classics in Korogocho and share some guitar lessons this year. Jamming, trading songs and learning to play popular Kenyan tunes was hugely inspiring. However, these talented musicians would really benefit from having more musical equipment practice and perform with. My goal is to help form a band from within the Ghetto Classics community to perform around Nairobi. This would provide valuable experience, inspiration and an ongoing revenue stream for these musicians. With help from the Peponi Community, I am confident that we can make it happen! Once again. Many thanks to all my sponsors. If you missed out, it is not too late! There is still time to make a payment if you wish to contribute. Please do so if you can! To make a payment, please send Mpesa to the following number: 0713 909271 Thank you once more for your generosity and support. I would also like to thank the Aldridge family for organising our race. Watch this space for updates! Mr Fisher
Book ‘n’ Lemon My sister Adithi and I decided we wanted to help raise money for those in need. We made and wrote our business plan and poster for Book ‘n’ Lemon on the eve of 26th June and set up shop on the 27th June morning outside our grandparents home due to COVID-19 restraints. We made lemonade and bookmarks and sold it to all residence of the two neighbouring compounds. My sister and I were able to raise 4000 KES for charity. Our cousin Yaashi was delighted to help us on the stand and our cousin Vivaan was our lucky first customer. We would like to thank all the customers (Family & Friends) who supported us by buying our homemade lemonade and bookmarks and those that donated towards our initiative. We warmly thank our Grandmother, Vimu dadi for her guidance in making lemonade and cousin Yaashi for helping us on our stand. My sister and I decided would like to donate the money that we have raised to the great initiative ‘Children for Children’ - Sukuma Twende Trust & Charity Connect. We are so happy that our proceeds will help to buy 16 blankets that will be given to street children and the most vulnerable. ‘#SUKUMAONEANOTHER’
