MOTORWAY PLANS MOTORING ON

Thanks For Having A Say

Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent consultation for the Sunshine Motorway upgrades.

Thanks to the community’s ongoing support, we’ve been able to secure $7 million to progress works on the duplication of the motorway, as well as major upgrades to the interchange at Yandina-Coolum Road, and the School Road roundabout.

This most recent consultation period outlined the preferred options, including the duplication of a 10km section of the motorway between Pacific Paradise and Coolum, an option for south-facing ramps at West Coolum Road, and an active transport pathway, as well as replacing the School Road roundabout with a signalized intersection.

I look forward to sharing the results of the consultation with you in the coming weeks, as I continue to lobby for further funding for this vital infrastructure project.

HEALTH, COST OF LIVING AND ROADS

Speaking of results, late last year I asked residents to identity their top three local issues.

While the results were not surprising, that didn’t make them any less concerning.

These issues were health, the cost of living, and roads. Here on the Sunshine Coast, we are not immune from the health crisis, with recent statistics revealing the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Nambour Hospital are among the worst for both urgent and nonurgent wait times.

When it comes to cost of living, similarly, the lack of any relief to increasing costs is pushing families to the brink. What we don’t need are more taxes.

And while we welcome the initial investment in upgrading our road infrastructure, much more is needed to keep pace with the population growth.

Along with law and order, these are the issues you’ve told me are important, and I will continue to advocate for more investment in the vital services that residents rightly expect, and deserve.
