THE TALE OF FIFTEEN WOMEN

Coolum Theatre Players Presents Les Femmes Sur La Mer

THIS APRIL

Translated as Women on the Wall, this highly entertaining piece of theatre is described as being a "Kabaret that is loud, proud and in your face!"

It tells the tale of 15 women who share their love of, and talent for music, theatre, and dance to weave a tale of life that is funny, sassy, sexy, stylised, raw, and sharp. It is an honest journey of life exploration.

Described as a white-knuckle roller-coaster Kabaret with “lighter” moments thrown in to balance out those that are, bitter-sweet, raw, real, sad and poignant, all held together by that universal glue of society – humour.

As time hurtles towards the first 25 years of the 21st Century it can seem as if life itself is in a state of flux.

Director Simon Denver says Les Femmes

Sur La Mer explores this flux from a female perspective, theatrically examining the role of women in modern day society.

Let’s face it – our “norms” are crumbling and being redefined as we speak, from gender politics to equal pay, equal representation to the tearing down of stereotypes – life is changing very quickly.

Audiences are expected to walk away having participated in a show that might prick your conscience, touch a nerve, tickle you, slap you . Then make you laugh, feel you've been beaten up, cause you to think, make you laugh even more, cry a little, then beat you up again .. and then cuddle you afterwards.

“Les Femmes Sur La Mer” features some of the finest female talent on the Sunshine Coast, who will sing and dance a fabulous collection of songs written over the last 30 years and will be accompanied by live musicians - Darren Heskes on keyboard and Murray Wall on Guitar.

Held at the Civic Centre in Coolum, next to the library, seating for the show is tables of 8, and you are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks (BYO), and gold coins for coffee, tea and the raffle.
