NEW OWNERS FOR GOLF CLUB

THE FUTURE OF THE PEREGIAN SPRINGS GOLF COURSE HAS BEEN SECURED.

Chateraise Lakelands Golf Club is the new owner of the Peregian Golf Course after purchasing it from Peregian Golf Holdings for an undisclosed price.

A Peregian Springs Golf Holdings spokesperson said the sale proceeded after a meeting of shareholders was on Friday, 17 March 2023 to seek approval for the sale of the golf course land.

"Voting in favour of the sale was made by the Establishment and Preference Shareholders and was also voted overwhelmingly in favour by ordinary shareholders," the spokesperson said.

"From the outset of the expressions of interest campaign we made it clear that a key consideration was the ability and intention for the purchaser to continue operating the golf course for the benefit of the local community.

“Lakelands is an established owner and operator of golf courses in Japan and Australia and has shown a genuine commitment to maintaining the golf course operations.

"They have extensive experience owning and operating 18-hole golf courses, including the Jack Nicklaus-designed Lakelands Golf Club in Merrimac on the Gold Coast.

"This experience provides a great foundation for the ongoing operation of the Peregian Golf Course into the future.

"This is a welcomed development for the community, as there was considerable concern in 2016, that the course would become a housing development.

"However, back then the fate of the golf course was essentially secured when Golf Services Management stepped in to oversee operations.

"Golf Services Management (GSM) currently operates the Peregian Golf Course and Clubhouse under its current lease.

"GSM’s current lease is being transferred as part of the sale. We have no doubt that GSM will continue to provide outstanding operations at this stunning golf-course."
