The woman behind the timeless jewellery

Pernille Corydon Jewellery is now in its fifteenth year of creating timeless jewellery. The story behind the brand is equal to Pernille´s own story

A story about curiosity, creativity, and the courage to trust your gut feeling. A story of a lifelong dream of creating. But also, a story with detours. It was not in the cards for Pernille - who originally trained as a pedagogue - to become a jewellery designer, owner, and manager of a successful company.

The story begins, fifteen years ago, in the back room of Pernille’s small interior shop in Haderslev. Both then, and today, all the jewellery was carefully hand drawn and designed by Pernille herself and since 2007, she has designed four new collections every year. As the years have passed, the company has grown, but the jewellery has always started its life on paper in Pernille’s sketchbook. The driving force being the self-taught jewellery designer’s lifelong creativity and constant desire to create.

“A passion to create something with my hands, has always been there and it’s there all the time. It’s not something I can turn on or off ,” she says.

The land of childhood

Pernille Corydon grew up in Kerteminde – a small fishing village on Funen, where the sea is an important part of life. Perhaps this is why the sea continues to play such a significant role in Pernille’s life. It is the place she feels most at home. The place where she finds peace of mind, and where she finds most of her inspiration. The sea slows down the pace of life all the while there is constant movement. Something new is always happening; the light changes from one moment to the next, the colours change and the sounds accompany the course of nature.

”Letting in impressions and creating something with my hands has always been a part of me. I remember it clearly from my childhood. Back then, I was often on holiday with my grandparents in their summer house. The house was by the water, and I spent my days, collecting all sorts of small and large things from nature, and tied them all together with string and wire that I found in the shed. It was little quirks like shells, fishing nets and pieces of wood that I found on the beach. I collected bags of small treasures of which I could make small creations. There was a stench of rotten clams in that shed,” she says with a laugh.

The grandparents’ summer house was a haven for the young Pernille Corydon:

“I really liked being there. It was my happy place, and there was room to be myself and to be creative.”

8

A workshop of creativity

”I went to “efterskole” (a very uniquely Danish type of creative boarding school) and here creativity really got a hold of me. All possibilities were present. There were workshops for just about everything. Everything from ceramics, sculptures in wood to jewellery made from horn and bone. It was during that time, that the things I created took a more concrete form. I played and experimented with all the crafts I could think of. I learned how to make ceramics and I learned how to use all the little tools that you use to create jewellery.”

“Basically, I think I’m very curious. When curiosity, observance, and the passion to create are linked together, jewellery shapes are suddenly hidden everywhere. Most of my designs are inspired by impressions I get from nature. But I see details everywhere that inspire me. It can be an architectural detail in a building or the rays of the sun finding their way through the leaves of the trees.”

Sometimes, life takes twists and turns before it finds the right path. Pernille’s passion to create could just as easily have shaped her life as an artist or ceramicist. But it was not a direct journey. It started with beach shells and childhood treasures, made a stop at the creative workshops and ended up with jewellery.

The person behind Pernille Corydon Jewellery

When you meet Pernille, you meet a welcoming and humble person, and you immediately feel her sensitive ability to make the people around her feel comfortable - she wants the best for you, one never doubts that. At first glance, these qualities are not what you associate with the typical CEO of a large company.

Pernille Corydon Jewellery is admittedly not an ordinary company either. Because Pernille’s whole being rubs off on all departments of the company - her femininity and aesthetics are seen in her designs, her concern is felt in the CSR department, and her humility and curiosity are felt in the way she manages the company; with room for the employees to have their own ideas, a flat organizational company structure and a rare strong unity.

DESIGN

From hand-drawn sketch to jewellery

Pernille Corydon designs every piece of jewellery in the collections herself.

In the design process, she works through the many impressions she gets from everyday life and from travelling, and transforms them into shapes and preliminary sketches. Pernille’s passion to create is strong, and you can be sure that she is always working on something new.

”Creation is my great passion. I constantly see new possibilities and shapes. The urge to create has always been a part of me. I find my inspiration in nature, architecture, people and everyday life. I am very attentive and observant, and I see details that inspire me everywhere.”

Her mindset, in the design process, is an openness and curiosity towards all the impressions that constantly appear. Tranquility - especially in nature - is an essential part of her creative process. A visual glimpse of light shining through a tree, or small waves on the sea by her cabin, may transform into a piece of jewellery.

”I am always open to new impressions, and I take all the small shapes, shadows and structures that I see, with me. I often manage to catch it on camera. But I process the impressions over time. Some jewellery I design quickly, and others can be years in the making,” she explains

SKETCHES

Design sketches - Pernille Corydon

From glimpses of nature to Danish jewellery design

The creative process often starts when Pernille has a break from her hectic daily life.

“Then I take out my sketch book and start drawing. I have learned to give myself the peace and quiet to sit down and let all the impressions take shape. Tranquility helps me transform all the images and thoughts, and the jewellery slowly begins to take shape. I am often asked where I get my inspiration from. But for me it’s more a matter of limiting myself. I have lots of designs, inside my head, just waiting to come out,” she says.

Nature has been a central universe for Pernille Corydon all her life. Not only in the way that many of her designs are created from experiences and images of nature. But also, because nature gives her exactly the serenity that sets the creative process in motion.

”There is something about nature which in itself creates the serenity I need. It is simply impossible to get out of the water upset. When I’m surrounded by nature, I get the same feeling that I remember from my grandparents’ summer house, where I spent countless hours as a child.”

”For me, it’s really about removing myself from everyday life. It’s a nice feeling when you have to express yourself creatively. To be taken out of the daily routines and rhythms. I find that easier when I’m surrounded by nature. My senses are heightened - I both hear and see better. I hear the leaves moving and the lapping of waves. It provides the inner peace that is needed for my ideas to transform into jewellery.”

THE STORY BEHIND

Dedication, decency and passion

32

Sometimes you just have to trust your gut feeling. That is what Pernille Corydon did 15 years ago, when she quit her regular job as a pedagogue and opened a small shop with jewellery, ceramics and clothes in the heart of Haderslev.

She designed and produced the jewellery in the small back room, when there were no customers in the shop, simply because she couldn’t help herself. As demand increased, the business slowly grew in size. Today, she sells jewellery inspired by Scandinavian simplicity all over the world, and her creative drive from the back room, which started it all, is still the driving force in Pernille Corydon Jewellery.

33 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

The adventure of Pernille Corydon Jewellery started in the backroom of a small shop in Haderslev, a town in southern Jutland.

Today, Pernille Corydon Jewellery´s Flagship Store is placed in the heart of Copenhagen. The head office is still located in Haderslev and provides the framework for the company which is run from the heart by Pernille Corydon. Pernille is a designer, but at the same time, she is also in charge of 20 employees who, from here, distribute the jewellery to 20 countries through more than 600 retailers.

From childhood dream to reality

It was not in the cards that Pernille would one day lead a successful jewellery company. Pernille is a trained pedagogue and has worked with vulnerable children and young people.

“I liked my job and I was good at working with people. But it was also hard, and I had difficulties letting it go when I got home,” says Pernille.

Recognizing this, a dream to create her own business grew. A dream that had been there – right from Pernille’s childhood, where she spent most of her time drawing, painting and making ceramics. Under her belt, Pernille Corydon had an entrepreneurship course, a loan from the bank and a great passion to create.

”The idea behind it all being that I wanted to design and produce items, which I could then sell in my shop,” says Pernille.

There was a very practical reason for the fact that it was precisely jewellery that she designed in the back room: It simply took up the least amount of space.

36
37 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

It didn’t take Pernille long before she realized, that her jewellery was selling faster than any other item in the shop. And it wasn’t just the customers in the store who were interested – it was also other retailers.

” Suddenly I had to learn how to deal with a high demand and at the same time I learned a crucial thing about myself: I simply did not like the sales situation. I found it so embarrassing to sell something that I myself had made.”

It says a lot about Pernille as a person. Her way of doing business is characterized by a great degree of humility, which could ultimately lessen sales. Therefore, Pernille made an agreement with an independent agent who was given the task of selling Pernille’s jewellery.

It was the right decision. Shortly thereafter both large chains stores and small shops could call themselves Pernille Corydon retailers. Such was the beginning of what was to become quite the journey – with a steep learning curve, but also with a lot of adventure.

Today, 15 years later, Pernille Corydon Jewellery still sells styles from the very first collection.

39 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY
“Where is your jewellery from?”

The first employees are still on board

As the company grew, more hands were needed.

“When we landed our first big customers, I really felt how busy we were getting. At that point, I could no longer manage by myself; to produce the jewellery, pack it, ship it and invoice it. That is why I hired Kirsten to help out, both in the shop and with all other practical things,” says Pernille Corydon.

(You can read more about Kirsten Gilling Andersen, who still works for Pernille Corydon on page 59)

At that time, the entire business was still managed from the back room of the shop. It soon became obvious that the back room could no longer accommodate production, office, storage and packaging.

”That is why we moved into a threebedroom apartment. At that time, I had five employees producing jewellery, and I also hired Jette to help with accounting and bookkeeping. We still did everything together - and we did it ourselves”.

(Jette Gerber still works for Pernille Corydon. You can read more about her on page 52)

A small business with a big passion

After five years, Pernille’s creativity and passion had become a full-time job and then some. Several employees joined the company in Haderslev, and in the midst of all the hustle and bustle, Pernille designed new and gradually more complicated jewellery that required a different level of expertise in production.

Therefore, she added the expertise of a small factory in Thailand, which would grow into a close relationship.

Today, Pernille Corydon’s jewellery is still produced at the very same factory with which she entered a partnership in 2012. Pernille continues to design all the jewellery herself.

“From the outside, I think it looked as if the company was much bigger than it actually was. I remember one day, our largest retailer asked, if they could borrow our conference room for a sales meeting. When we finished smiling about that, we discussed the possibility of perhaps adding a little more space to the office. Needless to say, we didn’t have a conference roomand in fact we still don’t ” she says.

Today, Pernille Corydon Jewellery has 20 employees, all based on two floors in a beautiful old building in the heart of Haderslev.

Kirsten is still busy packing and invoicing, and Jette is still making sure the accounts are correct. In the middle of it all, is Pernille with her sketchbook designing new, timeless pieces of jewellery, all the while managing the company.

We did it all ourselves - now we do it all together

So, it all began in the back room of the small shop. The shop still exists and still carries Pernille’s jewellery as bestsellers. But Pernille Corydon Jewellery has grown beyond the borders of Haderslev and Denmark - and continues to do so.

”Everything that the employees and I continue to do today, to carry on the business, is built on the fact that we have tried to do it all ourselves. Together. It has created a spirit that we keep with us today. Our values are always there, in everything we do in the company. We are doing our very best. I believe it is important to let your intuition guide your business decisions. Trust your gut feeling. And then it should always be fun to go to work.”

Dedication, decency and job satisfaction are keywords. It has been so from the very beginning - and it continues to be so.

PEOPLE

It takes a village

Workplaces come in a variety of

forms

There is the kind of workplace that you dutifully attend, to make ends meet. Or the kind that is so big, that the layers of managers mean that you have little chance of making a change.

And then there are workplaces like the one Pernille has created.

A place where you care for each other, inside and outside of work hours. A place where decisions are made together - and where it’s always the best argument that is important - and not your title. A place where employees are rarely hired on the basis of their CV, but to the great extent because of who they are. A place where many of those who joined from the beginning still stand by Pernille’s side.

Meet some of the amazing women, who together with Pernille, make up Pernille Corydon Jewellery

Jette started working in the company 11 years ago, where she took on the finance and HR functions.

However, that is not the only thing that Jette has played an active role in. She has, among other things, also helped open the webshop and Pernille Corydon’s Flagship Store in Copenhagen, as well as opening new markets worldwide.

”The company has grown somewhat larger, and fortunately skilled employees have now joined us to handle many of the functions that Pernille and I handled ourselves in the beginning. It is a fantastic workplace with room for your own ideas, great flexibility, wonderful colleagues - and a place where teamwork is a high priority.”

Jette has so many good memories to look back on, from her time in the company. One in particular stands out, and that is her first trip to Thailand with Pernille.

”We were visiting our jewellery supplier, and I was very overwhelmed and even touched several times. It was such a great experience to watch ”our” jewellery being created. Every single piece of jewellery in the hands of skilled workers - and Pernille standing completely humble watching it come to life.”

Pernille also has some very special memories of Jette. She remembers quite clearly that Jette was one of the first customers to whom she sold one of her designs, right at the beginning.

If it was Jette’s favourite piece of jewellery, the Saga Ring, which she bought that day in the small shop in Haderslev, the story doesn´t tell. But the Saga Ring still sells well to this day - and luckily Jette is still here too.

”We have laughed together and we have cried together. The company has grown from small to large, and it´s quite the journey we’ve been on. We have now worked closely together for 11 years, and there is no one I would have rather been on this journey with than Pernille.

I feel that we know each other so well, that we know what the other is thinking. Pernille is a humble and decent person, and those values are reflected in all parts of the company.”

55 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

An important part of the company are the Sales Representatives, who spend most of their time on the road visiting the customers.

One of them is Mette. She has contact with all the customers in Jutland and on Funen. She makes sure new collections are presented to the customers around the time of a launch and helps ensure that the jewellery is always beautifully displayed in the shops. However, the relationship with her customers comes first.

Mette started in April 2019, and delivered the most fantastic sales ’figures during ”the wildest first year”, as she describes it.

”I love my job. There is an enormous amount of trust and an enormous amount of freedom. There is always a good atmosphere at the office and everyone will go to great lengths, to give their very best.”

To provide good service for our customers, large or small, is a top priority for Mette.

”The most important thing in my world, is to make an effort - and that’s easy with the colleagues and customers I have”.

One thing is certain. Right around the launch of new collections, the whole office is buzzing with activity. But make no mistake. There is always control of orders, stock and who does what. Not least thanks to Kirsten, who, with her beautiful characteristic red hair and sharp overview, makes sure to keep everyone on their toes.

Kirsten was Pernille´s first employee. When she began working for Pernille, she did a bit of everything. She assisted and tended to customers in the shop and invoiced, packed, and shipped jewellery – just to mention a few things.

”I have worked for Pernille for around 12 years - since she started in the small back room – just me and her, and until now, counting 20 employees. It has been amazing to witness such enormous progress, but I feel lucky to have been a part of Pernille Corydon Jewellery almost from the beginning”, says Kirsten.

When new employees are hired at the office, it is important for Kirsten to pass on the ¨Pernille spirit”. It is, in all its simplicity, about providing good service.

”I still love my job to this day - and the company is still changing and growingeven after all these years. It´s exciting to see what the future has in store for us”.

Anne Sofie Thorsen

“I really feel that I have landed my dream job. Pernille prioritizes finding out where we shine as people, and not just as employees.”

Today, Anne Sofie is responsible for all visual material, as well as working with social media, influencer marketing and much more. But it was not always like that. Originally, Anne Sofie started as a Christmas helper in our webshop. After a few years she left us to pursue her education.

When Anne Sofie finished her studies, she reached out to Pernille, which led to Pernille hiring Anne Sofie again - but this time as PR and Marketing coordinator

”One of the things I love about working here is the opportunity for personal development. It’s something special to be part of a cool team of women from whom I can learn a lot. I feel very privileged in that way,” Anne Sofie says.

”I really feel that I have landed my dream job because Pernille prioritizes finding out where we shine as people, and not just as employees”

Pia Wittendorf

CSR responsible, Buyer and Proofreading expert at Pernille Corydon Jewellery

Pia joined the company 7 years ago after being headhunted by Jette, CFO at Pernille Corydon Jewellery.

”I was hired with a profile that perhaps didn’t quite match 100%. But never mind that, as Jette said, you’ll find your right place with us; Pernille will see your potential and where your strengths lie, and she was right, of course”, says Pia.

Fortunately, Pia’s passion for the environment and sustainability is one of the areas that has become part of her everyday life at Pernille Corydon Jewellery. Today she is responsible for the sustainability work. However, that is only part of her function. She also works as our Buyer and with proofreading due to her linguistic acuity.

”You can help shape your own career. The sky is the limit – almost. Not one day is the same! That’s part of what makes it fun to be included on Pernille’s journeyit’s been full speed ahead since I boarded. We have a very special community here at Pernille Corydon Jewellery, driven by Pernille’s DNA to take great pride in providing good service, not only for our customers, but also for our colleagues.”

Some of the things that Pia looks forward to with excitement are all the new initiatives in sustainability that are in the making.

”What I am most proud of in my job is how much focus we have on sustainability. It is important to us to be the most responsible version of ourselves.”

A TIMELINE OF JEWELLERY

15 years of timeless jewellery design.

A piece of jewellery is not just a piece of jewellery. It is a story, a moment, a memory. Through jewellery we can express ourselves. We form bonds and remember special experiences. Memories last, and so does Pernille’s jewellery. We are proud of the fact that there are designs, from the past 15 years, that are still in collection today. Pernille’s 15th anniversary calls for something special, so we have collected a piece of jewellery from each year in this jewellery timeline.

Each piece of jewellery has a special meaning to Pernille and represents the design direction of that particular year. Each piece of jewellery has its own story to tell.

Join us on this trip down Memory Lane.

Small Coin Earrings

The delicate Small Coin Earrings were some of the very first pieces of jewellery that Pernille designed, and they have been part of our collection ever since.

“When I designed my first Coin jewellery, I was inspired by beautiful architectural details and shapes of a government building in Berlin – the city that unites the raw and the soft. The city’s many circular shapes have inspired me to create many of my Coin styles.”

70
2007

2008 Coin & Drop Necklace

Pernille has been inspired by round and characteristic geometric shapes since the very first piece of jewellery was created. In this necklace, Pernille combines the simple expression with the organic drop shape. The drop shape also became one of Pernille’s own favourites, as it symbolizes nature as an eternal source of inspiration.

71 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

2009

Double Drop Earrings

The beautiful Double Drop Earrings are special to Pernille, and the drop shape also appears in several of Pernille’s designs. It is a symbol of her fascination with the magical movements of water. Fascination with the soft waves of the sea, drops touching the surface of the sea, summer rain on the green leaves of the forest or trickling streams.

72

2010 Oval Creoles

When Pernille started designing jewellery, she wanted to create classic designs with a simple, strong, and feminine expression. The perfect piece of jewellery should discreetly match, but it should not outshine. These are the ideas behind the Oval Creoles.

73 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

2011

Rain Hooks

Rain Hooks are a tribute to nature and were created with inspiration from falling raindrops. Pernille appreciates observing the natural and magical flow of the drops. The sound of rain creates the perfect, most soothing atmosphere.

74

2012 Big Twisted Necklace

Pernille loves travelling and exploring the world. One of the places that has a very special place in Pernille’s heart is the lively Bangkok, which she often visits. She is very fascinated by the vibrant life and energy of the big city. It was on one of Pernille’s many trips to Bangkok that she was inspired to create the Twisted jewellery.

”It may sound a bit strange, but the constructions in suspension bridges and electricity pylons have always fascinated me, with the many wires and lines that appear as a tangle in perfect order. The combination of lightness and extreme complexity makes me feel butterflies in my stomach” - Pernille Corydon

75 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

Double Plain Necklace

Pernille regards the world as an inexhaustible source of inspiration, with a sea of impressions, just waiting to be translated into new shapes, sketches, and designs. In this design, Pernille combines two circles with a brushed surface in two different sizes. The classic design of the necklace makes it easy to wear, and the necklace has been a popular style in the collection ever since it was launched in 2013.

It was always Pernille’s wish to create jewellery to be worn by everyone. She is delighted to see when the different people around the world embrace her jewellery and make it their own.

76
2013

2014 Brick Ring

Pernille Corydon finds her inspiration everywhere. The many impressions, that she picks up along her way, often turn into initial jewellery sketches.

”I always draw my styles by hand. It sets my creativity free and lets my ideas run wild”.

Pernille was inspired for the Brick ring on a trip to the Netherlands. The Dutch fields and the landscape with completely clean lines immediately caught her attention.

77 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

2015

Small Open Coin Earsticks

Shapes and sketches are one thing. Then there is structure, materials and colours. Early in the design process, Pernille Corydon thinks about surfaces, combinations of materials and nuances of colours. Small details can change the whole expression.

The Open Coin collection was designed with a lightly brushed surface to create more texture and add a matte finish to the jewellery.

78

2016 Clover Necklace

Nature has so many wonderful treasures to offer. The four-leaf clover has always been a symbol of good luck and if you just pay attention, you can find many small and delicate details outside.

79 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

2017

Daylight Ring

The Daylight design is very close to Pernille’s heart. The Daylight collection was created with inspiration from the beauty of light and the reflective rays of the sun. Pernille is very fascinated by the meeting of light and strong shapes in nature. It may be from a walk in the wild forest or from the beautiful sunrise at dawn.

Since the launch in 2017, the detailed Daylight pattern has become almost iconic and certainly a well-known signature for Pernille.

80

2018 Sheen Bracelet

When light meets water, something magical happens. The inspiration behind the beautiful Sheen jewellery comes from this rendezvous between light and water - when the reflections of the sun cast little stars on the surface of the sea. The jewellery has a polished, shiny surface which reflects the light.

81 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

Saga Ring

The Saga jewellery has a characteristic hammered surface, which makes each piece completely unique. The jewellery in this collection takes us back to our grandmothers’ jewellery box and little treasures filled with beautiful memories. The Saga jewellery symbolizes the precious moments we wish to remember. Pernille has created these pieces with reflection on times gone by and as a tribute to the new stories, we look forward to creating.

82
2019

2020 Bay Ring

Pernille created this style with inspiration from the hidden world of natural treasures that you find below the surface of the ocean. The beautiful bay is full of organic details, soft and smooth pebbles, and delicate pearls, shaped and created by nature.

83 PERNILLE CORYDON JEWELLERY

2021

Shade Necklace

Many of Pernille’s colourful styles were created with inspiration from the breathtaking sky. Magical sunrises by the ocean and the fascinating and colourful afterglow that appears when the rays of the sun disappear into the horizon.

84

2022 Ocean Treasure Earchains

The ocean has always been a great source of inspiration for Pernille. She spends a lot of time here, and she feels at ease when the waves set her mind free and open all her senses. Pernille always discovers exciting new details at the beach, that gives her new ideas for jewellery – as an example these stunning Ocean Treasure Earchains with beautiful white freshwater pearls.

THE FUTURE

Epilogue written by Pernille Corydon

To me, having dreams for the future and looking forward to new beginnings also means pausing for a moment and reflecting. Looking back on my 15 years as a jewellery designer, it is with joy of how privileged and lucky I am. What a great gift it is, that I have been able to turn my passion into my living. And on top of that, I am fortunate enough to combine my passion to create with a work life surrounded by people I care about. That brings me joy every day.

Relationships mean the world to me. That is why it is important and really rewarding that I have close and longterm relationships with employees, production and with our entire network of retailers. We must never forget that it is people who make companies. I make an effort to take care of the people I come into contact with, and it is important to me that we do our best to take care of each other. I love to see people flourish and experience how they create their place in the world.

People are often surprised when they learn that I myself own, manage and design everything in the company. But Pernille Corydon Jewellery is a valuedriven and highly personal company. If you look at the company’s history over the past 15 years, it equals my story. Therefore, it makes sense for me to follow my gut feeling, when deciding right from wrong - both as a person, a jewellery designer and a business owner. I fear that feeling would be lost, if you add layers of managers between the employees and me.

It feels good to be involved– to keep my finger on the pulse. It allows me to adjust and make quick decisions, if that is what is needed. But it is also a major responsibility, which can be hard, tiring and very challenging at times. However, this is totally outweighed by all the adventures and the joy I get to have. Having my own business gives me a huge sense of freedom. That sense of freedom takes away all the insecurities which comes with being the one in charge.

88

This

Making an effort has always been important to me. I make an effort to manage my responsibilities in the best possible way. There must be cohesion in the company – both between the employees, but also between design, production and distribution. Therefore, owning as well as managing Pernille Corydon Jewellery still makes sense to me. It is very important to me to honour my DNA and values - both in relation to design as well as in management. I am proud that I have stayed true to my values throughout my journey.

We are all motivated by different things. Close relationships motivate me, and so does my strong passion to create. Ultimately, it is the foundation on which the entire company rests. Most important above all, is designing jewellery. I am passionate about design and finding inspiration to design is never a problem for me. I love to create and cannot help myself!

I love to create something that makes other people happy. The fact that I have been able to do so for 15 years makes me proud. I feel so incredibly happy every time I pass someone in the street wearing my jewellery. It is still the same feeling, as the first time a customer entered my shop and bought the very first piece of jewellery. I hope that, for many years to come, I can continue to create jewellery that means something special to the people wearing it. At the same time, it is also extremely important to me that I maintain a safe and thriving workplace for the employees.

The same respect also includes our beautiful nature, on which we are so dependent. To me, the two things always go hand in hand. We care about each other, and we care about our environment. We make an effort to always be the best version of ourselves. There is always room for improvement, but we are constantly looking for new ways to become an even better version of us.

Looking back, I wish I had been better at pausing and celebrating when things went well. Cheering a little, once in a while - I’d like to get better at that.

Personally, I would also like to practice giving myself the space and freedom to express my passion to create on several levels. I have started to paint a little again and some of my watercolours have been used as motifs on our jewellery boxes. It is fun to step out of my normal work flow and do something a little different. When I make an effort to create a fun and thriving workplace for my employees, I should also remember myself.

I know myself well. When something quietly begins to excite me, I have to make room for it, so that the passion, motivation and joy may continue to live.

I will spend the next 15 years practicing that – and I hope you will continue on this journey with me.

Thank you for your attention.

Love
