CITY OF ARLINGTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
GENERAL AVIATION TERMINAL ARLINGTON, TEXAS
In addition to numerous recent airfield and airside capital and operational improvements, this new $5.2M LEED Silver Certified General Aviation Terminal at Arlington Municipal Airport adds to the already high profile the Airport maintains in the region. The PGAL designed 17,000 square foot, two-level terminal building provides both tenant and public spaces as well as support space for airport administration and operations. The terminal was the first certified building in the City and developed under a fast track design-build delivery scheduled for completion prior to the 2011 Super Bowl. Arlington’s substantial growth in population and significant additional area sports and entertainment attractions demanded a more capable airfield to serve the City’s growing role as not just a reliever Airport, but a destination in its own right. This enhanced role in the community also demanded a larger and more capable General Aviation Terminal to serve its patrons.

BISMARCK MUNICIPAL AIRPORT
CONSOLIDATED RENTAL CAR MAINTENANCE & STORAGE FACILITY BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA
PGAL worked hand-in-hand with a 3rd party developer and the Airport in the P3 development of a consolidated rental car quick turnaround facility at this small regional airport. In this design/build arrangement PGAL teamed with a local contractor to develop the most cost effective and operationally efficient facility to serve the growing market at BIS and the needs of the local operators. In addition, PGAL worked closely with airport planners and local engineering professionals to ensure that the long- range goals are met for the airport and that the facility is engineered to be suited to the local terrain, environment, aesthetics and utilities. The building has been designed for the harsh winter climate, utilizing insulated architectural precast walls and roof, high-speed doors and heated slabs throughout.

BOCA RATON AIRPORT
ATLANTIC AVIATION HANGAR BUILDING RENOVATIONS + UPGRADES BOCA RATON, FLORIDA
PGAL and Florida Building & Remodeling we awarded this design/build renovation and expansion project. PGAL prepared plans for the buildings renovation project, all the while maintaining the private vehicle access, circulation and aircraft movement areas free of any conflicts. The upgrades to the building brought the entire facility up to the most recent Florida Building Code requirements and provided a new and fresh environment to serve the private clientele that use Privaira’s air charter service. PGAL provided space planning, signage and wayfinding to the existing 12,000-square-foot Hangar Bay. The customer service area was upgraded with modern finishes, more natural light and the reconfiguration of the old small segmented offices into larger more efficient spaces within the existing building. Using creative design techniques, our designers were able to achieve better circulation layouts and spatial relationships out of the same building footprint with new higher ceilings. The new 2,500-square-foot Administrative offices were designed to provide improved and efficient areas to conduct the activities involved in the Aircraft Management, International Aircraft Operations, Flight Departments and the company’s administrative nerve center. The safety and security of clients and employees was also addressed with time proven techniques of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). The facility’s visibility angles and circulation are well connected throughout the facility to ensure that the facility could operate 24 hours, if needed.

SANTA BARBARA AIRPORT
CONSOLIDATED RENTAL CAR MAINTENANCE & STORAGE FACILITY SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA
PGAL served as rental car planner and Architect-of-Record for this 3.6-acre site that is the first piece of the terminal redevelopment at Santa Barbara. The site is remote from the Airport and was conceptualized as a true “common” facility used for the maintenance and storage of rental car vehicles. The shared and secured facility includes eight (8) fuel positions, two (2) car wash bays, five (5) individual maintenance and administrative areas and storage parking for 300 cars. Aesthetically, the facility is distinct from the contemporary design of most ConRAC facilities as it incorporates the Spanish design influence so prominent in the area while meeting both the City of Santa Barbara’s strict aesthetic and environmental standards and the State of California Title 24 Energy and Accessibility requirements. It has won numerous design and sustainability awards and through the inclusion of a photovoltaic solar solution providing 100% offset of electrical usage, the project earned LEED Gold Certification. PGAL also supported the Airport in meetings and negotiations with RAC Industry corporate representatives and franchise owners. PGAL brings this ability from our extensive experience with RAC projects and our understanding of the industry’s operational and business practices.

BOB HOPE AIRPORT
REGIONAL INTERMODAL TRANSIT CENTER (RITC) BURBANK, CALIFORNIA
At three levels and 850,000 square feet, the Regional Intermodal Transit Center at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, California will serve multiple modes of transportation. The regional bus component provides connectivity to the airport and the heavy rail line, making this facility a truly intermodal complex for the Southern California area.
