Victoria Concert Hall
7.30pm
by The Philharmonic Winds Singapore and Omiya Wind Symphony Concert
For wind band aficionados, here is one rare occasion, not to be missed! For this very special collaboration, the audience will get to enjoy not just one, but two, of the top community wind orchestras in Japan and Singapore.
Taking the stage first will be the 50-strong Omiya Wind Symphony, led by world-renowned Music Director Toshio Akiyama and its Assistant Conductor Akira Takeda. Actively involved in international exchanges in Asia, Europe and the USA, this will be the group’s debut performance in Singapore. Our friends from Omiya will be presenting a mix of international and Japanese band favourites.
Joining them in the second half will be Singapore’s Philharmonic Winds, led by Music Director Leonard Tan. Together, the combined band will perform a range of key international, Japanese and Singaporean works, including Festive Overture, Takeda’s Lullaby, City of Dreams and Munnaeru Vaaliba.
