This month we chat to Andy Cairns of alt. rock legends Therapy? ahead of their Mo Club show in honour of the 20th anniversery of their genre defining ‘Troublegum’ LP. We speak to US heavyweights Of Mice & Men ahead of their sell out tour (with a chance to win tickets for the Southampton date) and we introduce you to Southampton’s newest stars, The Lounge Kittens. Therapy? are an alternative metal band from Northern Ireland. Forming in 1989 they’ve spent the last 25 years writing and releasing a veritable plethora of studio albums and have toured the world extensively, sold nearly 3 million records and gained themselves an almost cult like status in the process. This year they celebrate the 20 year anniversary of their biggest album to date, ‘Troublegum’, and are doing a small run of UK dates in April in honour of this, including a show at Southampton’s Mo Club. We had a little chat with founding member and vocalist Andy Cairns, to ask him about the tour, his music tastes past and present, and to see if he had any golden gems of advice for new bands. How does it feel to be celebrating 20 years of Troublegum? I often ask myself where 20 years have gone, it seems incredible that two decades have gone by already. In that time we’ve released 10 albums, we’ve been on 4 different record labels, been through 3 drummers [current drummer Neil Cooper is their 3rd], toured the world countless times and sold 3 million records.
You’re going off on an epic road trip - who would you choose as your companion and why? Jose Mourinho, Chelsea manager. I am a big Chelsea fan, but I think he’s a fantastic raconteur. He speaks 3 different languages, has travelled all over the world, and I imagine he’s seen a lot of conniving in his time. I’d really enjoy being on a trip listening to Jose.
We’re lucky; before Troublegum we had 3 cult, underground records, but it took 5 years till we had a big record. We’d been playing for so long that it didn’t really matter though- we started touring the world from an early stage so no matter where we go there’ll always be a crowd who’ll have heard of Therapy?
What are your pet hates? I suppose we’re a funny old bunch, but it’s always been manners. We’re very calm, and we’re always slayed by people with bad manners. Sometimes people think that being in a band gives them licence to be an asshole.
What were you listening to 20 years ago, and how does it vary to what you’re listening to now? The one band I’m still listening to now is Manic Street Preachers. 20 years ago I was also listen ing to bands like Black Flag and Big Black- I listened to ‘Holy Bible’ a LOT. I also used to quite like hip hop, artists like Public Enemy and DMX. Now I’m listening to noisy punk bands, like Arctic Flowers, and lots of EDM [electronic dance music] too. Michael [McKeegan, bass] is into his death metal. Neil listens to lots of hip hop, and soul and funk records. We’ve always had diverse music tastes.
Which song usually gets the biggest reaction from the crowd? There are a few I’d say- one called ‘Knives’, it’s the opener on Troublegum. There’s a short, sharp guitar riff at the start and no matter where we are in the world as soon as the audience hears those first few riffs it all goes nuts. ‘Screamager’ is also another that always goes down well.
You’ve got up and comers Lonely the Brave touring with you – is it important to you to support new artists such as LtB? There’s this popular trend of bands buying onto tours – Therapy? have never believed in buy ons. We think it’s criminal. We always look out for bands we like. Someone who knows the band [Lonely the Brave] knows my wife, and said ‘can you listen to this band?’ I really like them. When we spoke to our agent about them he said that they were one of the bands submitted for consideration already. And then I found out they live in the same town as me [Cambridge], so that’s cool. Any advice for bands trying to break into the industry? I would say just be patient, especially when you’re young. Too many bands are far too impatient. There so much drama in life already when you’re young, and that’s magnified when you’re doing something so intense and emotional as being in a band. I would also say don’t change your style to chase after your fans, do your own thing and let them come to you.

What can we expect from the live show at Mo Club? Well we want it to be a BIG night. It’s the last show of the tour, and it’s a Friday night. We’re very fond of Southampton having played there loads over the years. We’ll be playing B sides and the odd obscure track from the 90s. We can’t wait, we’re well rehearsed and ready to rock! Apparently there’s a club night in Southampton called Troublegum [who will be doing the aftershow]..? That’s pretty cool. We’re staying over in Southampton after the show so I’m definitely going to check that out.

The term ‘Devildriver’ refers to bells Italian witches used to chase away evil forces. Yes, we pulled that straight from the band’s Wikipedia page, but it’s cool as hell! And so are Devildriver, the heavy as heck California metallers, who judging by their vast careers so far have seen it and done it all. Now veterans of music with 6 studio albums and countless tours and festivals under their belts, the heavyweights of heavy metal are heading our way in April with a tour of Europe, including an 8 date stop off in the UK. We were offered the opportunity of talking to vocalist Dez Fafara before they reach our shores, to talk about what they’re up to right now, and just why he likes the UK so much. What’s going on with the band right now?
We start rehearsals in 7-10 days to go over to Australia for Soundwave, then we go to Japan for some dates, then we come to the UK. I’ve never been to Japan before so really excited to check out the people and their culture. We’ve also been busy writing material for the new album; we’ve got a handful of songs pretty much ready.
Festival or venue?
We take the energy from the small clubs to the big festivals, then take the huge amounts of energy from the festivals to the small shows - I think they go hand in hand. Give me anywhere with a decent mic and more than 5 people and I’m in!
Your latest album ‘Winter Kills’ was released last year what’s the response been like?
Absolutely amazing! All around the world. It debuted higher in the US but we put a LOT of hard work into it so it’s good to see it so well received.
What are the bands biggest influences when writing?
Lyrically, everything from daily life to spiritual matters - there are so many different aspects. It’s where we get our sound that makes us so different I think. I listen to many different types of music: Black Flag, to Black Sabbath, to solo rock artists…..there are a lot of influences that make Devildriver sound so special.
Who would play you in a film about the band, and why?
With the life I’ve had it’d be nice to see Johnny Depp play the part. I think he could pull it off if anyone could, cus I’ve had one HELL of a life. Plus I’m a huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan.
What weapon of choice would you pick if there was a Zombie Apocalypse, and where would you go?
I’d take my family and make my way from any populated areas. My weapon of choice would be a shotgun - it’s got a big spray and I could kill lots all at once. I’d saw the end off so it’s a real badass.
What are your views on touring in the UK?
I have a total love affair with the UK. Along with New York, the UK in general has been the hotbed for music, for anywhere around the world. From my first time there in 1995 to now I’ve always had the best time. You guys know your music that’s for sure. But I enjoy touring everywhere, it’s all a good time for me. Tell everyone to come out to see us!
What one thing would you like your fans to bring you whilst on tour?
There are two things, but let’s go with the one thing that’s legal, and that’s red wine. Don’t be bringing me any Cabernet though, my favourite is Sangiovese [an Italian red wine]. I’d love it if people brought me bottles of that. WORDS: MARIANNE HARRIS

Strength often comes from starting over. In the aftermath of a disruption, calamity, or tragedy, there’s a process of restoration. Southern California quintet Of Mice & Men refer to it as Restoring Force. Not only does that serve as the title for the band’s third fulllength album and follow-up to 2011’s breakout The Flood, but it also sums up their unbreakable spirit. Enduring lineup shifts and a constant uphill battle to be heard, the band—Austin Carlile [lead vocals], Alan Ashby [rhythm guitars], Phil Manansala [lead guitar], Aaron Pauley [bass, vocals], and Valentino “Tino” Arteaga [drums]—emerges stronger than ever. “What happens after a disaster? What happens after The Flood?” asks Carlile. “You return to normal. You find balance again. That’s what we felt like we were doing with this album. We officially added Aaron, and this is exactly where we needed to be with our sound. We wanted this record to bring equilibrium back to our band and music. We’re letting everyone know that we’re here to stay. We’re Restoring Force.” Part of the group’s ascent involved the incorporation of Pauley into every aspect of the creative process. His soaring hooks proved the perfect counterpoint to Carlile’s crushing screams. “It was the first time we had ever actually recorded together,” Carlile goes on. “He’s our brother, and he’s an incredible vocalist. I remember one night we were doing pre-production early on, and Aaron had some reservations. He was down on himself, and he didn’t know if he was cut out for it. I told him, ‘You’re the person who delivers that final punch and emotion. You’re the one who sends it home for us. Trust yourself’. The next day, he showed me ‘Feels Like Forever’.” The track builds from a polyrhythmic riff into an utterly unforgettable refrain. It’s artfully heavy and chaotically catchy. “I saw Aaron’s struggle in the studio, and I had the same struggle two weeks later,” admits Carlile. “I broke down. I was mentally, physically, and spiritually exhausted. That song takes me back to making this record. When we finished it, I was so reassured. You can always come out of any low point.” “The theme of the record is togetherness, working together, and being a family,” he reveals. “I want our listeners to know they’re not alone. We’re all going through it with them.” The group has become a veritable phenomenon worldwide and they’re back in the UK this month with a fully sold out tour. We caught up with new recruit Aaron Pauley for a brief chat about what they’ve been up to and what’s in store for us at the Mo’Club….. What’s been the highlight of the band’s career so far? I can’t really comment on before I was in the band, but so far for me, it would be ‘being able to travel the world and connect with people.’ Not a lot of bands ever get that opportunity.

What’s the goal for 2014/the rest of eternity? Tour, make albums, tour, make albums…… What’s the best thing about touring? Definitely getting to see the world and how doing so shapes your world view. What do you like to do most when you have time off from touring? Spending time with my family. Your new album ‘Restoring Force’ came out at the beginning of the year, how’s it been received so far? It’s been really positive, which is a great thing. Going in, we decided to make a record that no one expected, so it could’ve just as easily been ill received. What’s the writing process like for you guys? Do you write on tour or have to set aside special time to write new material? We do write on tour, but it’s hard to get into a creative space on tour. We did a majority of the writing in the four months leading up to the studio. What do you think of the current state of the music industry right now? It’s trucking along and always evolving, as it always has. Your fanbase in the UK has grown hugely and the reaction here has been pretty crazy for you guys over the last 2 years especially, what is it you like most about playing in the UK? I love being able to connect and share the experience of music with someone from literally the other side of the world. It’s a unique and humbling experience. What is the absolutely essential tour item that you can’t leave home without? My toiletries bag!! What can we expect from your upcoming UK dates? A good ol’ rock show! WORDS: MARIANNE HARRIS

FEATURE So, new album Opposites of Light is out…..soon? Tell us about the journey you guys have been on to get to this point.
You’ve been going for well over a decade now, what do you think is the key to sustaining a career in music today?
Yes it comes out to coincide with our UK tour at the end of April. We started writing it when the impact of my relocation to the States was still very fresh, and looking back on it now it’s a great personal representation of all the things that piqued my interest during that time. Also we embarked on the process of reclaiming all our previous recordings from the various licensees that had been distributing them and bringing them all under the umbrella of our own labels. That is still going on and it influenced our decision not to work with another label on the new release. We were initially going to record in a traditional ‘month in the studio’ manner but decided to see how far we could go just working from home. I’d been recording bass parts for a project I do with Tom DiCillo the film director very successfully and that also encouraged me down that path. So apart from a week in a studio to record drums, bass and strings, the guitars were all recorded by Drew at his home in London and the vocals were all recorded by me at my house in Hollywood. A lot of emailing of files backwards and forwards, and I had to learn some more about sound engineering, but it meant I could spend as much time as I wanted exploring the parts and trying different performances and that is a huge advantage over what we may have lost sonically from not going in the studio. That said I think tracks like ‘Black Blizzard’, ‘Nightmares’ and ‘Dream Sequence’ are amongst the best sounding recordings we’ve ever produced.
Loving what you do and not standing still creatively. Actually that’s only what keeps Die So Fluid going. There are a lot of bands out there who do really contrived, predictable stuff and are 1000 times more successful. I’ve never been about that. It’s all about striving for something greater in art.
You released the video for Black Blizzard at the beginning of the year, did you feel the need to give something out to the fans? Between this album and the last the only thing that has come out was a DIY video for ‘Crime Scene’. We’ve been talking about the new album for a while so we really wanted to make a statement of intent with the video. The song is really grand and filmic, with its Egyptian strings, so the video had to live up to that sound. The reception by fans was great and it built on the anticipation for the record. What can we expect from the new album? It reflects the heavy element of what we do, and also the dark more introspective side. I expect some fans might prefer one side over the other depending on their tastes, and those that truly ‘get us’ will appreciate it as a whole. It’s gonna be interesting, even a bit scary, haha, but we stand by it. There’s no point in making music or art that isn’t genuinely from the heart or it won’t speak to anyone. We’ve never said we belong to any particular genre because we’re into challenging ourselves musically, and exploring what new and cool elements and sounds we can bring to it. It touches on Tex-Mex, medieval, and even psychedelic, so one of the best terms to describe it is desert vampire rock.
Have you got any advice for bands starting out and trying to make their way today? Do as much as you can on your own. Don’t release a sex tape until you’ve already had a scandalous bar fight with a nineties TV star. I think there are so many routes to fame now you just have to be completely open to everything and quick to respond. If however you want respect then do something brave and don’t sound like a thousand other bands. If you only want to make money then pick another career. What’s been the highlight for Die So Fluid so far? The completion of ‘The Opposites of Light’ seems like a massive achievement. We really went out on a limb to produce ourselves and put forward completely different styles of music. Are you excited to be playing in the UK again? Excited to play anywhere again after such a quiet couple of years. But looking forward to a greasy full English breakfast by the side of the road the morning after the first gig. Are you playing any festivals this year? We’re playing Alt Fest in the UK, Aug 17, representing on the S.O.P.H.I.E. stage! It’s a great new festival for fans of all kinds of alternative music. The line up is almost too good to be true. What are the best and worst things about being on tour? Generally I love being on tour, playing rocking shows is the best part, connecting with the fans and seeing new places. The downside is being apart from my husband and I adopted a dog a few months ago. I will seriously miss my fur baby. What are your must have tour travel items? In 2013 three friends with a shared love for singing harmonies got together with a view to putting together a tongue in cheek set of cover versions for the sheer fun of it, none of them could have expected what was to follow.... Imagine if Richard Cheese seduced all three of the Andrews Sisters...and each had a little Lounge Baby. The Lounge Kittens would be the scandalous by product of that sordid affair. tuneful, cheeky, glamorous and geeky. They perform unlikely covers in a more unlikely style. Between the three of them their musical tastes span the genres of Rock, Jazz, Punk, Psychobilly, Ragga, Hip Hop, Ska, Pop, Soul, Metal, Dance, House, Grunge...actually pretty much all genres. There is literally no one they wouldn’t cover. Fast forward to April 2014 and thier video of a cover of Rollin’ by Limp Bizkit now has 100k views on YouTube since its release just one month ago and has been posted in over 45 different countries. In the UK they’ve been shared by Kerrang, MetalHammer, Team Rock Radio, Download Festival, Sonisphere Festival and even Mr. Limp Bizkit himself, Fred Durst who said on his Twitter that he was ‘loving it’ leading him to reach out to the band via email to offer his support. How has it been in the weeks since the video was released? What was your reaction to Fred Durst being so supportive? Jen: “It’s so strange how the video release seems like it was months ago, rather than weeks - the positive response from the general and global public was just incredible. It’s so wonderful to think that the ‘fun, just for us hobby’ seems to have made such an impact! There are so many ‘I can’t believes’... I can’t believe that we have fans from every continent on the globe, I can’t believe that we can say we went ‘viral’, I can’t believe we hit 100K views in 3 weeks, and I can’t believe that Fred Durst actually endorsed the rendition... it’s so great to know that the homage you wanted to pay towards a band that made up some of your adolescent years has been taken in exactly the way you hoped. We’re so grateful to everyone who supports us. Every single one!“

How are you feeling about playing Sonisphere this summer? Timia: “As a Lounge Kitten I am both honoured and pumped! As a festival virgin I have my concerns; I’m wary that in the company of thousands of folks in ‘an advanced state of refreshment’ I could get vommed on at any given moment… that’s not a totally irrational fear is it? I’m in good hands with Zan though, she’s a festival veteran. But it’s a real privilege not only to have been invited but also to have been shown such support from the team. I can only hope that those who watch us ‘get’ what it is we’re doing; that we’re fans of the music we sing and having fun with it. No one wants to get ‘Daphne & Celeste-ed’ off the stage…. perhaps we should have a version of ‘Ooh stick you’ we can whip out should the worst occur…haha!” How does it feel to have suddenly jumped from playing in your local pub to chatting with massive stars and joining the line up of huge festivals? Zan: “It feels really weird! I think we all reached a point after the video release, not long after Limp Bizkit shared it on their Facebook page, where we stopped being able to process what was happening. We’re just trying to take it all in and say yes to as much as we can. We sang Rollin’ the other day in rehearsal for the first time since the video and it felt so strange! It’s just gone so far beyond the song itself, it’s unbelievable. But we’re looking forward to playing our local pub shows just as much as playing BoomTown and Sonisphere, it’s just great to be out singing for people.” WORDS: KAI HARRIS

Pulled Apart By Horses originally hail from Leeds, now based in London they’ve spent the last 6 years strengthening their fan base and playing explosive live shows across the UK and Europe. Right now they’re finishing up the recording of their 3rd studio album and getting ready for some UK dates at the end of April/May. We thought we’d collar drummer Lee Vincent for the low down on how the album’s coming along and when we can expect to get our filthy mitts on it. What was the inspiration for the band name? It was our guitarist’s idea really, and the name was there before we even had a song written or been in a room together. It was just meant to be, and fitted the music perfectly. Even after 5 years we still like it. How’s the album writing been going, and when are we getting new Pulled Apart By Horses? It’s going very well. We took quite a long time to write this time around which we never had the opportunity to do before. It’s our strongest set of songs so far. We’ve been recording with friends in Leeds - in a cool Leeds studio, with people we know, have worked with before and feel comfortable with. I could second guess a release date, but then inevitably it would not come out then so we have no solid release date as yet, hopefully at some point in the summer, but people will be hearing a new song sooner than they think.
Do you guys ever use working titles for new material, and if so what are some of the best ones? Working titles are a dangerous game....if you use one for long enough it becomes like a person, like a child you get used to and grow fond of, and they run the risk of sticking. We tend to stick to first ideas as well, they were a bit more ‘out there’ on the first album. An example of this is that we have a friend who used to be in a band called Grammatics - Rory is his name. He’s a strange man. ‘I’ve got guestlist to Rory O’Hara’s suicide’ is the title of a track on our first album. It was a joke, sick tour humour, and it stuck. Any stand out PABH shows come to mind? It’s really hard to pin it down to just one. I generally love smallish rooms, where it’s packed and everyone’s losing their mind. When we were touring ‘Tough Love’ we played a show in Manchester Academy 3, and it was raining sweat. Was hot and mad. I’d rather play in a sweaty basement but massive gigs are fun as well. Translating the energy and atmosphere of a small basement to a large stage is fun.
What do you imagine you’d be doing if you weren’t in a band? I don’t really know, I’ve done lots of menial jobs though which has made me realise I definitely don’t want to have a boss. I’m as keen on writing as I am playing music - I started a career in music journalism when the band was taking off. Yeah, I think I’d be a writer, writing something for the screen, fiction maybe, maybe even a novel. WORDS: Marianne Harris

Do you ever get song envy, or think ‘I wish I’d written that!’?
like it is now. It’s still the closest thing I have to an old skool home town show though.
Hmm maybe. There are definitely songs I can look at and think ‘fuck you guys, it’s so good!’ ‘Obstacle 1’ by Interpol was the first one that made me think that. That song from start to finish is perfection. To be fair I’m more in awe than wishing I’d written it. I love seeing when a band gets it right, that’s total inspiration.
What are you hoping to get out of 2014?
Looking forward to getting back out on the road? We’re used to touring a lot and we played like 2 shows last year. We took a step back on purpose to write. When you tour for a long time you become like this dysfunctional family and it can drive you nuts. Now we’re all just itching to get back out on the road.
We’re just aiming to make the best album we can and hope that people like it. It’s really that simple at the moment. There’s a sense with any first album that people know that you’re here to stay. We’ve set ourselves down as a UK band that’s not going anywhere else. We’re hoping the new album allows us to keep touring and playing to more and more people. We all really respect bands like Biffy Clyro and Muse, bands who’ve been around a while, building their profile up and forming a loyal fanbase gradually, rather than exploding out of nowhere very quickly. They can now afford to do whatever they want and we’d like to be able to do that.
You lived in Southampton for a time, does it feel like playing a home town show when you’re back there for a show? I have very fond, blurred, memories of Southampton. I live in London now but Southampton was the first city I lived in. All my friends went to uni there so I just followed them. It was wild, wild times. That was in the late 90’s early 2000. By then I’d made the decision to be in a band, release records and go on tour, and was hoping to find it all in Southampton but at the time the music scene wasn’t all that great, not

Despite the name, Memphis May Fire are not from Tennessee, but rather Dallas, Texas, where everything is bigger and bolder. Unsurprisingly, the band’s musical output is extremely difficult to classify, having siphoned from the very best of its various post-hardcore / southern rock influencers to create something wholly unique; the result of which presents an unparalleled blend of elegance and aggression that can only be defined as, well, Memphis May Fire! Nothing more, nothing less. No trends. No excess. Simply a group of individuals that stand in defiance of all things mundane. Having many of their UK shows already sold out, the band has developed an almost disciple-like dedication that continues to spread across the globe. The success of their first full album The Hollow in 2011 caused their popularity to spread like wild fire throughout metalcore fans. “I think that fans really connected with The Hollow because it dealt with personified life experiences and outside perspectives on a variety of relatable topics” spoke guitarist Kellen McGregor regarding the album’s universal appeal and why it was so well received. MMF followed The Hollow, a critical success far from the emptiness its title implies, with 2012’s Challenger. The album showcased the depth and breadth of their songwriting prowess and cemented their cohesion as a unit. A now well-oiled machine, MMF have proven themselves light years ahead of a scene in dire need of reinvention and we think new album Unconditional might do just that. We caught up with Cory Elder just as the band are about to travel over to Blighty to grab a quick insight into just how excited they are to be coming back to the UK. New album ‘Unconditional’ has literally just reached our ears for the first time – what’s the response been like so far? The response has been mind-blowing to us! I see people buzzing about it online that have already really delved deep into the lyrics and latched on tight. How has your writing/recording process changed over the years? This go around we tracked all the guitar and bass at my home studio and all the production was finished when Jake and Matty went to Arizona to do drums and vocals.

Are you excited to be coming back to the UK? Excited isn’t anywhere near the proper word. We have played some thrillers over there and are always tickled pink to get back.
What did you do before Memphis May Fire? Loads of things! Worked at Journeys, a furniture store, a lumberyard, a plant nursery, toured regionally with my old band, and was a student in college.
Do you find there’s a difference in the audiences here compared with the US or Australia? Besides accents, nah. The fans coming to shows old or

At the moment we have ‘The Pageant of Power’ with Status Quo and both ‘Carfest’s’ for Chris Evans but more are coming in!! What’s your favourite song to play live? I really enjoy Renegade as it’s probably the most personal song on the album. Who would you rather tour with: One Direction, Lady Gaga or Cher? Cher every time! Plus I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for her after seeing her on that war ship as a teenager!!! If you could be a superhero which one would you be and why? Superman! Flying, running at lightning speed and X-ray vision!! What more do you need?! Would you rather fight an elephant sized spider or a 1000 spider sized elephants? 1000 spider sized elephants!! I hate spiders and love elephants! What’s the worst thing about being on tour? Driving the van!! How many motorbikes do you own and which is your favourite? I only own my 2007 championship winning Honda Fireblade so that has to be the one! If you had to cover one of Katie’s (Melua - James’ wife) songs, which one would it be? Spiders Web definitely! It’s an amazing song! Why should we check out your show? A lot of the feedback we get at our live shows is how obvious it is to see we all love what we do and it means a lot to us on stage.

If you haven’t heard the name Eagle & Weeks yet, brace yourself because we reckon you’ll be hearing it a lot. This acoustic duo from Southampton won a massive FOUR southern battle of the bands competitions last year. They were invited to play at Richard Branson’s private Virgin Trains Festival alongside the likes of Sister Sledge, Sam Smith and The Cuban Brothers and have got off to a flying start to 2014 with a south coast tour and supports slots for the likes of Brother & Bones and more. Eagle & Weeks are not just your average acoustic act they aim to get the crowd hyped and singing along to their songs. Full of opinions and a youthful flamboyance they’re set to take the UK festivals by storm this summer. We caught up with them to find out more…..
What’s your favourite festival? I can’t really decide on that to be honest as I know Sam will probably say Download. I’m very much in to all the up and coming festivals like Wickham Festival, Victorious Festival - although seeing foo fighters at Reading Festival a few years ago was incredible. What’s been the biggest achievement for Eagle & Weeks so far? We’ve really tried to just share our music to everyone. I think achievement wise Winning four southern battle of the bands last year was great for us. Plus being invited to play at Richard Branson’s private festival with Sister Sledge and Sam Smith was a great experience! What’s on the agenda for you guys in 2014?

Well….. playing bigger shows would definitely be nice for us plus we are currently sorting slots on some new tours and we have our EP launch on May 2nd at The Joiners which is going to be a wicked show for us. We will just take 2014 as it comes!

How would you describe your music to someone who had never heard you before?
How did the two of you meet?
To understand our music come and see us play a show! We are an acoustic act yet we don’t want an audience just listening, we want them to be part of the gig. I suppose ‘expressive fast paced acoustic duo act’ just about sums it up.
We met at an open mic event in Southampton. We were two musicians looking to start a new form of music so we combined Cajon and acoustic guitar as a duo to create energetic alternative acoustic music. What made you first decide to start playing music together? I think the casualness of the way we met made us gel very quickly. I had seen Sam play as the house drummer at the open mic so I decided I would ask him to come and jam with me and this sparked a very quick musical relationship.
Why should we come check out your live show? We promise to keep you listening all night plus we will make sure by the end of the night you are knackered from dancing and your throat is hurting from singing. We look to entertain any audience we are given :)
What bands do you like to listen to? Myself and Sam are very strange in that aspect as although we are an acoustic based band we are very much in to metal! Together we’ve been to see Lamb of God, Letlive, Feed the Rhino…… although we are also very much in to Newton Faulkner, Sam Brookes, Frank Turner, Badly Drawn Boy and many other similar artists of these genres. What bands would you most like to support/go on tour with? There are definitely many bands we would love to tour with. Most bands we’ve already played shows with such as our mates The Cramatics - wicked guys to be around. But we would also love to go touring with bands and artists like Badly Drawn Boy and Newton Faulkner.
