Storm Thorgerson was a famous graphic designer and film maker who has worked with many artists such as Muse, Peter Gabriel and Pink Floyd. The use of space and layout on the album covers is definately something I want to consider when creating my work. The colour is carefully considered and bold. Could be chaotic when mixed with typography will need more space.
RenĂŠ Magritte was a Belgian surrealist artist who created thought provoking works of art. I love the textures and patterns Magritte creates in his work. Maybe photography collage? http://masterworksfineart.com www.wikiart.org
Jason Little is the Co Founder and Creative Director of For the People. He is responsible for mantaining the creative vision of the design agency. Love the variety of different patterns designed for the logo and fragmented shapes. Reminds me of Peter Saville’s work on Marketing Manchester. The patterns on the logo look to be 60s-70s inspired. http://www.jasonlittle.co/CITY-OF-MELBOURNE
Peter Saville is an English art director and graphic designer. He became well known for his designs of record sleeves for Factory Records and his work on Marketing Manchester. I love the modern angular style of his work and how the logo is incorporated into the advertisements. They use colour and shape to make the viewer associate the design with the logo. www.citylab.com http://www.cerysmaticfactory. info/saville_manchester_original _modern.html
Veronica Cordero is a Visual Communication Designer from Auckland. She designed this booklet for the annual SPD Student Design Competition. This Auckland City editorial spread was awarded 2nd Honorable Mention, out of hundreds of entries worldwide. This booklet packs laser cutting, typography, page layout and photography in one project. The photograph on the bottom left shows the cleverly placed typography and how when opened light shines through the letters it projects the look of a sunrise on to the main photograph. http://veronicacordero.com/aklcity. html
After Hours Creative are a design studio who work on a vast amount of projects with a number of graphic designers. I like the angle and photography on this design. The typography echoes the angle and look of the road markings, the texture of the typography looks letterpressed which works with he grainyness of the image and texture of the concrete. http://www.afterhourscreativestudio.com/ graphic-design-leicester.html
Cinema Advertisement in Ukrainian Magazine by Kaffiene Design Agency The cut out points in the typography gives the advert a modern industrial feel. Like the typography is not quite finished the lines remind me of scaffolding on buildings http://adsoftheworld.com/media/outdoor/apartments_series_film_one?size=original
The windows of New York project is a weekly illustrated fix for an obsession that has increasingly grown in me since chance put me in this town. A product of countless steps of journey through city streets, this is a collection of windows that somehow have caught my restless eye out from the neverending buzz in the city. “This projects is an ode to architecture and part of a self-challenge to never stop looking up.” José Guízar is a desginer and art director from New York who’s work is influenced by modernism and the culture of Mexico. He works on a number of illustration and design projects—some of which have been featured in Harper’s Bazaar, New York Magazine and The Wall Street Journal. The window project idea is a stripped back look at the city. It makes the viewer wonder what is behind the window and inside the house. The windows also capture scenes and different timelines of different families and different artistic styles. Maybe work on layout of different buildings? Photograph key features of buildings? What makes each building unique?

Ranganath Krishanami is an Senior Lead Experience Designer at Adobe Systems. These illustrations were created for a leading sport motorcycle catalog to highlight the features and the benefits of the bike. A project pitch for the newly launched sports motorcycle, which is one of the most fuel economy motorcycles in its segment. To emphasize the idea of fuel efficiency the brochure was designed to form a alphabet city, each representing a particular location, architecure, park, resturants etc in any popular Metro. Depiction of the elements of today urbanlandscape. A lot of detail has been put into the design of these buildings with the shading and structure, the bold contrast of colourand block of colours feels more modern and cartoony. The vintage typography works amazingly with the tinted drawing. Maybe incorporate type into image? https://www.behance.net/ranganath
Now a retail market, this building was designed by the first full-time Borough Surveyor, Richard Dugdale, and put up in 1887/8. The Market’s renovation in 1980 brought out the fine decoration applied to it’s functional structure. The arms were officially granted on October 12, 1868. The arms are based on the arms of the Ramsden family, who held the Manor of Huddersfield since the reign of Queen Elisabeth I and who played a major role in the development of the city. http://en.wikipedia.org http://www.huddersfieldcivicsociety.org.uk/ docs/HuddersfieldTownCentreTrailleaflet.pdf
In early Christian churches of the 4th and 5th centuries, windows were filled with ornate patterns of thinly-sliced alabaster set into wooden frames, giving a stained-glass like effect. Stained glass windows in churches can be found as far back as the 7th century. The earliest known reference dates from 675 AD when Benedict Biscop imported workmen from France to glaze the windows of the monastery of St Peter which he was building at Monkwearmouth. I could create a book made of illustrations inspired be stained glass windows. The book could tell the story of Huddersfield or capture the stories of people who own the stalls at the open market.
Hidden [hid-n] adjective 1. concealed; obscure; covert: hidden meaning. Hidden typography is not just old and worn away graffiti and signage, it’s items people don’t notice anymore because they either are too busy or pass it everyday and it has blended into the brickwork of a building.
One of the ideas I had to was to present my final piece on material collected from the city. I collected pieces of metal and wood and experimented with typography. For this piece I was going to paint conversations recorded from Hudderfield Market.
