Welcome! I’M NERVOUS...WILL I BE COMFORTABLE WITH YOU? Whether you are a glamorous girl who loves shopping, a bookworm, a musician, a social butterfly, a gamer, a baseball player, someone getting started later in life, someone who works a lot.....you will feel comfortable with me!!! I frequently receive compliments from parents stating that their son/daughter felt a lot more comfortable with me and had a lot more fun than they thought they would!!! Adults as well! I'll talk to you, laugh with you, and will bring out the best in you :) I substitute teach at a Junior High and High School (I also taught elementary full time for fifteen years) and fell in love with the drive, energy, and beauty that kids of all ages posess. EVERYONE is unique and those qualities are what make us interesting. I will get to know you and plan your shoot around YOU and YOUR goals for our shoot. Your portraits will NOT look like everyone else’s (unless you need them to!) They will truly reflect who you are. When you can be yourself, you will shine and look GORGEOUS! Chances are you already know someone (or many!) who have already worked with me...ask around! On a more personal note, I am a mom to two teenage boys and two adorable pups as well as a wife, working full time as a photographer and graphic designer. I love shopping, movies, working out (usually!), hanging out with my family, and traveling. I am truly passionate about what I do and I think this comes through in the expressions of my gorgeous clients :)
What to Expect PRIOR TO YOUR SESSION
I will email you a short questionnaire so that I have a clear idea of the expectations that you have for our session together. It will also ask some questions so that I can get to know you and your needs a little bit better! At this time your $100 deposit is required (check, cash, paypal, credit, debit) to secure your date and time.
THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION
When you arrive at your scheduled time I will get to know you a little first! Get ready for a great time sprinkled with laughs, fun & creativity! We will take a look at any outfits and props you have brought with you. Bring any ideas you hadn’t already sent me! At this time the balance of your session fee is due.
If you broke out...no worries, that is what Photoshop is for!!! WITHIN 72 HOURS OF YOUR SESSION
I will send you a link to a sneak peek of your session! A few may be edited but most will be untouched proofs, waiting for you to pick which ones speak to YOU and YOUR needs. Over the next two weeks we will communicate back and forth about your favorite pictures and edits. I will edit two of your favorites for you to share on social media. These edits will appear in your proofs as well!
WITHIN 72 HOURS OF YOUR SESSION
Your edits will be ready and we will send them to who ever needs them; agencies, magazines, etc. If you have ordered any printed shots these will be in as well for you to pick up. If you're coming from further away we can arrange for them to be delivered to you.

What to Wear YOUR OUTFITS HELP TO TELL YOUR STORY :) The answer to this question depends largely on your personal style, interests, agency requests/standards and how many clothing changes they’d like to do. The session that you choose dictates how many clothing changes you have. Think of the ads you see when you flip though a magazine. DIFFERENT TEXTURES (lace, leather, fringe) and styles! Denim is your friend - it matches everything! Jewelry can really make a picture...adding dimension, as can a favorite hat, boots, or jacket. If you are a casual, laid back teenager, dress as such! **Everyone is not fancy!** If you love clothing, rock a really cool outfit with edgy boots/shoes! If you are seeking modeling or theater headshots you will want to show versatality. Bring more than you'll need! Avoid logos, tube tops, and super low cut shirts Be sure everything is ironed and wrinkle free. This may mean changing into your first outfit when you arrive for your session!

I love love going through magazines or surfing the internet for inspiration...not to copy pictures exactly (with my own senior clients), but to identify what the common thread is between them.... Here are some that I clipped when I took a break from making this magazine. I googled ‘senior style’ and screen shot the first seven pictures that stood out to me. I then focused on their commonalities: ACCESSORIES TEXTURE SIMPLE, GORGEOUS MAKEUP LONG, LOOSE WAVES Share pictures with me and I’ll keep a file for you! Determine what it is about them that you love and we’ll incorporate those trends into YOUR shoot! I have many accessories in my ever-growing ‘senior closet’!!!

BRING AT LEAST THREE OUTFITS: TRENDY (have fun with it, think magazine shoot!!!), Casual, and ACTIVITY/SPORT/PET, etc (no sport or activity? bring another trendy!) I have a ‘closet’ with accessories for you to borrow if necessary!
IT’S SO IMPORTANT TO WEAR THE RIGHT UNDERGARMENTS! Some sheer dresses and tops require nude underwear. Bra straps should not show, even if it is in style. Sometimes a strapless bra is a must!!! DO NOT ASSUME I CAN PHOTOSHOP OUT STRAPS, WRINKLES, ETC!!!! I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER, NOT A MAGICIAN! If you don’t love your arms, think long, flowy sleeves. Arms can appear larger than they are in pictures.
Be comfortable, it will show! Throw a trendy jacket over a plain outfit and add boots, wedges or heels, VOILA! So CUTE! Same goes for jewelry and hats!
Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers with COORDINATING ACCESSORIES to save time! Use fashion magazines, commercials, INSTAGRAM and PINTEREST for inspiration! MORE MAKEUP THAN USUAL....the camera EATS IT off your face! Don’t forget your lips....I also have tons of glosses :)LOVE lashes?! Wear some falsies! NAILS: neat and classic, avoid trendy colors... think neutral! SKIN: drink lots of water for a few days and avoid the sun a day or two before...I can't always photoshop burns! LIPS: gloss, lipstick or balm at minimum! HAIR: Start with it down then up for the last shots! If meeting with a hairdresser be sure to bring pictures... it's not a time to try something new! BROWS: Plan on taking care of unwanted hair at least a day or two prior!

FOR A SUCCESSFUL SHOOT.... here are some tips!

BRING AT LEAST THREE OUTFITS: Casual, trendy/dressy (well, as dressy as you feel comfortable!!!), and ACTIVITY/SPORT Avoid clothing with logos and words (unless it’s a jersey). It will distract from your gorgeous face! If you are wearing a tie (and you don’t know how to tie it) have someone do it for you loosely so that all you have to do is slip it over your head and tighten it up! YouTube is great as well! Feel free to bring more than one! Be comfortable, it will show! Jeans look AWESOME in pictures, especially with jerseys! Bring clothes freshly pressed and on hangers! Accessorize! If you play baseball or lacrosse, bring your equipment, ALL of it....if you LOVE your pet, arrange to bring your furry friend! They will be sure we capture a natural smile :) If your favorite look is the scruffy look, go for it, but avoid the sloppy scruff (on your neck, etc). If you want some with scruff and some without, bring an electric razor and we will do your more formal pictures last!! Be sure nails are clipped and clean!
WHY PURCHASE PROFESSIONAL PRINTS?
I hear this question all the time. Why should I pay more for professional prints when I can get the printed at Walmart or Shutterfly ? Legally, professional prints are copyright protected. You may purchase a digital file with a copyright waiver, then have them printed where ever you please, although I take no responsibility for the printed products produced by vendors other than the ones that I work with directly. Department stores and mass printers are pretty common, so they are fairly convenient to get to. Department stores are usually limited to prints that are 8x10 or smaller. They are decent enough for vacation pictures and school projects. However, I find the quality to suffer. The colors are flat, you’re forced to buy glossy paper, the kid behind the counter doesn’t always know what they are doing. In some cases I’ve seen the focus on the picture get soft and in other cases it was artificially sharpened. Even worse, the color is not always calibrated and your pictures have too much yellow or green to them. They are also not guaranteed to stay around long enough to become precious heirlooms for your senior's children and grandchildren to enjoy!!!
Professional labs have a vested interest in keeping their professional customers happy. They are going to make sure the machines are properly calibrated and color balanced. You can choose several different paper finishes from matte to metallic and many in between. You’ve paid for professional photography for a reason. Have them printed on professional paper and you will be thrilled with the results!!!
