I decided to take this course because I found the news compelling and writing was always something I was very passionate about ever since a young age. When I first started the class I was very worried on how my year was going to turn out because some people in the class already had prior experience to journalism before. Some had even helped out on the yearbook back in the academy. However, after the year progressed I learned many new skills to use digitally and I actually grew interested in a subject I would have never pictured myself being a part of. The year started off with the class using textbook and online activity page in order to learn how to actually write a news article. The textbook gave us examples and vocabulary words to use when writing a news story and taught the format and the correct grammar to use. These skills provided to me by my teacher and my resources will come in handy for the future if I choose to pursue a career in journalism. These skills helped me become a stronger writer because it made my vocabulary expand and thrive in order to write compelling stories that are able to captivate my audience. Throughout the course, I learned new digital skills through programs I had no idea existed prior to taking this class. For example, the concept of InDesign which is a digital software to create spreads and designs for magazines and documents was introduced to me. One of my favorite units was the photography unit, I learned different strategies of taking professional pictures. For example, I learned about the rule of thirds, framing and leading lines to name a few. Leading lines is a technique used by photographers in order to convey an image from a leading line to the actual main object. The year is closing of on a positive note with a sharp knowledge on journalism whether it be on photoshop edits or Indesign spreads and a mind chock full of ideas for next year. Below are a few of my works from this year, enjoy!

lection On the left is my favorite layout and thing I have done all year. This layout was inpired from an actual magazine layout on people magazaine about Ed Sheeran. The task was to create a magazine layout when we were still learning how to use InDesign in depth. Thia layout smbolizes growth from how far I have come this year because of the professional look this layout has to it. I am very proud of this piece because I used many of the InDesign themes we learned throughout the year such as cut outs and the rectangle tool. I used this picture for my compisition quest: contrast. I was drawn to the picture because of the beauiful eyes my classmates posses. Contrast goes hand in hand with this photo because of the different eye colors of these boys. This picture was used for my scavenger hunt of a class being in session. I was drawn to this picture because of the goofy and realistic elements of what a class is like. It shows someone at work and people just smiling and having a good time in class.

Stefy Campos Character Profile

Standing in front of the excited audience peering up to the figure on the stage, Stefy Campos takes a deep breath before expelling the first lyric of her song Stefy Campos, a bright young lady of fifteen of Latin American background takes an extensive interest in singing and horseback riding. Singing publicly comes easy for Campos, as she performs in front of one hundred to five hundred people singing covers of Taylor Swift or Disney songs. Campos also takes part in the art of piano playing. However, even though she worked passionately on her piano skills her teacher never showed up causing her piano lessons to come to an abrupt end. She smiles proudly when asked why kindness is an important component in present society. “ To make the world a better place, she answers. Campos confirms that her mother always reminds her of her kindness affecting the way she treats people on the daily. Campos grew up watching Disney movies and the message she took out from the films molded her kind personality as well. Ever since an early age, the love of Horseback riding has nestled its way into Campos heart making her proud of what she does and working for her goals with an undefeatable ardor.

People diet in order to lose unhealthy weight, feel more content with their body image, or to lead an overall healthier lifestyle. People look up to celebrities as an inspiration to what their perfect body image is and celebrities make money off people by revealing health tips and workouts regimes. However, each person has a different body type, no one has the same composition and require different types of food to prosper as a person. For example, athletes consume a larger amount of calories rather than a regular person facing a screen for work for most of the day. As the body burns more calories it must consume more in order to function, on the other hand a person who burns fewer calories a day consumes less food in order to remain healthy. “ an athlete should be trying to eat three big meals a day and be having snacks in between these meals. An athlete should avoid as much junk food as possible, fast food, and sweets. However, having sweets is alright occasionally and having ice cream occasionally is good as long as you have everything in moderation.”, sais Gulliver cross country Coach Suarez on what athletes should be consuming on the day to day basis. A question well sought out in today’s society is, does dieting actually work to lose weight? According to a recent article from the New York Times a study was conducted between
