Reflection Reflection PERSONAL ESSAY: Over the course of the year, I have become increasingly conofident in using the journalistic skills I have learned this year. I have grown as a writer by learning new techniques such as inverted pyramid and other “grabbers” to engadge the reader. As a photographer, I learned new terms and skills to increase my photography skills and learned it’s a lot more complex than just looking throuogh the lens and foocusing it. Lasty, as a designer I learned so much. I learned howo to use photoshop and indesign and use them toogether to create beautfiful spreads, a skill I can use not only in journalism, but in life aswell. I see myself using the skills I’ve learned in this class for future marketing oppertunities, portflios, and presentations.
REFLECTION: One piece I am most proud of from the past year was my spread in the yearbook on my friend Juan Diego. I’m prud of it becuase it demonstrates my abilities to interview, write (in the style of Humans of New York), and create a lay out.
I chose these tw photos from my photography portflio because the one of the car is a god example of point of view and the one of the lock is a good example of a subject shot.

Through his passion for creating original music, Juan Diego Vergara is on his way to a career in the music industry. As a Reggaeton artist on Spotify, he has over 3,000 monthly listeners, and over 30,000 listeners for his hit singles “Tropical” and “Gratuita.”
“
When I’m writing music it feels like I’m spilling out everything on my mind and in my heart onto paper. It’s the most exciting feeling because of the possibility that something I love so much and am so passionate about can be loved and admired by others. Growing up, I have always been a huge fan of Spanish music. Ever since I was around the age of six I always tried writing my own songs and singing along to as many songs as possible. I took a break from writing but, when the opportunity arose to start writing again, I took it. My friend, who was mainly focusing on rap beats was working on a Latin beat and showed me. It was actually really good and he needed someone who spoke Spanish, so two days later, we made our first song together. Writing and making music again gave me motivation to keep pushing forward, regardless of whether or not I received a good response. My producer helped me a lot at the start and my vocal coach has also helped me to become a better singer. I feel I’m on my way to becoming a star because anything is possible in this life if you work for it. There is a lot of hard work and passion behind the music. I am definitely going to keep working at it and see what the future holds for me. I’ll consider myself successful when I’ve won the hearts of people through my music and for who I am -- not just as an artist -- but as a person as well. Once I share who I am through a song, I feel half of the success; the other half is the love I get in return. If I could say anything to those who listen to my music I would want to thank them for all the support they have given me since the very beginning. I hope they are ready to see what the future holds and continue to support me and push me forward every step of the way.”
