My Favorite Piece
In all the pieces I have done this year I have to say I am most proud of the lit mag. It was the lit mag because it gave me the oppurtunity to put my spin on others people’s writing by showcasing their writing in a certain form with pictues and a certan layout and design. This piece was sentimentel to me just because throughout the year I had been struggling to use the program Adobe InDesign and now I feel like I got the hang of it.

This year I learned alot of things espically about the concept of design and how to improve on this, since the programs are very complex and also I improved my photogaphy by activities such as the scavenger hunt that instructs you to take pictures with standard photography skills and techniques.. Also my design skills improved with things such as spreads and presentations. As well, as my design skills have improved so has my writing suprisingly such as activities on the online textbook which teaches you methods to show you how to actually write like a journalist and also the methods that Ms. Rodriguez has taught me such as the inverted pyramid to find factual and infactual writing.

A police search is underway when a girl found a wolf lurking around grandmother’s house while she was ill. Last Tuesday, a wolf was reported to have broken into an elderly woman’s house while her granddaughter left the residence due to the fact that she was bringing back groceries such as wine and cake to make her grandmother feel better because her grandmother was ill, on the way there the Big Bad Wolf wanted to eat the girl and the food in the basket. He secretly stalked her behind trees, bushes, shrubs, and patches of little and tall grass. He approached Little Red Riding Hood, who naively tells him where she is going. He suggests the girl to pick some flowers, which she does. In the meantime, he goes to the grandmother’s house and gains entry by pretending to be the girl. On the way back from the arons she had to run she was strolling through the woods looking for her house stumbled back onto it and found that instead of
the grandmother being on the bed the wolf was there instead. The grandmother had been eaten up by the wolf and the wolf had stolen attire by dressing in her clothes after he brutally murdered her. When she walked into the house expecting to have seen her grandmother at the bedside she saw the wolf and dazed with curiosity “Red Riding Hood” said “What a deep voice you have!” (“The better to greet you with”, responds the wolf), “Goodness, what big eyes you have!” (“The better to see you with”, responds the wolf), “And what big hands you have!” (“The better to hug/grab you with”, responds the wolf), and lastly, “What a big mouth you have” (“The better to eat you with!”, responds the wolf), at which point the wolf jumped out of bed and eats he ate her up too. There is still an ongoing investigation but police say that this has all has come as a shock to them and they say if anyone has any leads in the case to please call: +1 303-342-7198.

Tobias Holguin Ms.Rodriguez November 2, 2018 Period 6 OBR This morning I listened to Ms. Sullivan address all of the of the Miller Drive campus talking about the current issue that concerns all of us, gun control. The discussion was caused by the fact that unfortunately this past saturday a shooting occurred at a local synagogue in Pittsburg. During the meeting we addressed changes that we needed to make to atleast make an attempt to prevent all of these catastrophic things from happening. Personally, I believe in the idea of guns but I feel like it should harder to obtain these weapons, I feel like to purchase a weapon whatever it may be such as a, pistol or a higher class weapon such as a assault rifle. I feel there should be a thorough process in which they check your mental condition and give you a background check such as your prison record, driving tickets and purchases you’ve made. A more effective policy would require every buyer, of any age, to obtain a license that includes a registration of all purchases and at least a training program. Not all gun laws are created equal. The military-grade rifles used in many mass shootings shoot not be legal. “If we can set it up so you can’t unlock your phone unless you’ve got the right fingerprint,” President Barack Obama asked in January 2013, “why can’t we do the same thing for our guns?” I feel like this would be a good idea for keeping kids away from guns and lowering the death rate every year of children dying because of these terrible accidents. Overall, I think this nation should come together to end gun violence and accept people’s opinion so there can be less hate day by day so these mass shootings don’t happen anymore.

Tobias Holguin Ms. Rodriguez Journalism January 30, 2019 Opinion Piece: The Extreme Risk Protection Order, or “Red Flag”
The state legislature of New York passed a package of gun control bills Tuesday targeted at preventing the kind of shooting massacres that have marred the US. The new bill called the The Extreme Risk Protection Order or referred to as the “Red Flag” bill, would allow authorities or family members to seek a judge’s ruling to take firearms from an individual deemed dangerous to himself or others depending on their mental health state and the information you give to the judge about the certain individual. Also Background checks to buy firearms would be extended from three days to 30 days under the another bill, other proposals included measures that would ban bump stocks, prohibit teachers from carrying guns in schools and extend the waiting period for gun buyers who do not pass an instant background check. In total, six gun bills passed easily through the State Senate and Assembly. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, last ushered a major gun safety package into law in 2013, right after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. In my opinion I feel like all these laws that are being passed in New York is one step closer to safe gun control. I feel like this rule should be applied also in Florida and possibly all the U.S.. After the Marjory Stoneman Douglas massacre the topic of gun control became enlightened once again as we had practically forgotten about it after Sandy Hook. So I’m very glad that we are now being more conscious and being more strict about gun
