Dining with a fresh sea breeze Laimai Restaurant is located just a few steps away from Patong Beach, across the beach road. It is part of Baan Laimai Patong Beach Resort and features all-day dining till late at night. This venue is one of the best in Patong if you are looking for somewhere to relax from day through to night. The restaurant offers al fresco seating in a spacious area where Restaurant Preview  20
you can find respite from the hectic street life whilst still enjoying the scenery. Grab a glass of chilled Chang beer which is now on special for only THB 99 net per pint and chat with the bartender or other guests at the bar. The atmosphere here is truly relaxing and making new friends is easier than you might think. Just let your soul soak in the smiles, laughter and kind hearts all around.
One of the most popular dishes to try is the Lobster Thermidor – a French dish that is simply stunning and always pleases guests. Lobster is cooked to perfection in a creamy white wine sauce, topped with Parmesan cheese. Mouthwatering!
If beer is not your thing, you will find plenty of superb cocktails to relish at Laimai Restaurant. For the coming season, some cocktails are on offer at THB 180 only – so try a Mojito, Strawberry Daiquiri, Banana Daiquiri, Piña Colada or Courtyard Cosmopolitan, to name a few. Laimai offers a wide range of food selections, including Thai and international dishes. Their seafood is also highly recommended – it’s caught daily and prepared to suit your tastes. Enjoy a live band featuring seven instruments in the evenings every day except Thursdays. They will blow you away with both old and new music and accompany you through the vibrant night. Complete your tranquil dining experience with a carefully selected glass of wine from Laimai’s desirable labels and vintages. Red or white ‘wine of the month’ is priced at THB 200 per glass or THB 950 net per bottle. On Thursday evenings, a Filipino duo takes over entertainment and provides a soothing vibe to freshen any warm night. Laimai Restaurant opens daily from 6:30 am. through to late night.

The art of blending spices at Baluchi
Baluchi is among the top Indian restaurants in Thailand and is the only award-winning one on the island. It is located at Horizon Patong Beach Resort on Soi Kep Sap, Thaveewong Road, a few minutes walking distance from the beach. The restaurant shines with contemporary flowing lines and stylish sensual colours combined with elegant wooden dining tables that also display a variety of spices under their glass tops. A gleaming line of warm-coloured walls blended with a gold mirror as the background to modern artefacts gives guests a truly cosy and warm atmosphere. The seats are in an open-air dining area and there is also patio seating during the summer months for those who prefer a quieter outdoor meal. The menu will be familiar to devotees of Indian food and there’s no doubt that the cuisine found here is substantial and tasty enough to make it worth a stop if
you are in the neighborhood. However, those who are new to Indian food shouldn’t hesitate to ask for assistance from the attentive and caring staff. They are more than willing to help you with some useful recommendations.
Those who are vegetarians can order a vegetable biryani. It is one of the most grand, noble and delectable recipes from India. This rich and exotic rice dish with spicy vegetables offers a saffron aroma that is very inviting.
Baluchi offers a culinary combination between food and cultural reflection. The restaurant has collected qualifying spices from the cuisine’s originating region and has prepared some of the elements such as yogurt and cream from scratch in order to create signature dishes with traditional tastes. Each of the dishes is prepared by the chef who creatively cooks genuine Indian food that is notable for its many spices.
Treat yourself after a big meal to the Indian traditional Gulab Jamun. The dessert is served warm and consists of brown balls made from whole wheat flour and flavoured with green cardamom and rosewater, kewra or saffron, soaked in sugar syrup. Slowly dip the spoon ever so gently into that spongy, tawny-coloured globe you hold in the cup in front of you. The treat, still warm, offers a fragrance of cardamom and roses. The doughnut is soft and forgiving, just as a good sweet should be. Its golden elixir spills from the centre and carries an aroma reminiscent of royalty: men and women who once sipped tea and echoed poetry within some of the world’s most resplendent gardens. Now take a bite. Gulab Jamun rolls over your tongue – sticky and sweet, full and flirty.

A thin, crisp, salty Indian cracker Papad, also known as Papadam, is served as an accompaniment to your choices of curries including the green spinach curry called Palak Paneer; Dal Baluchi, black urad dal (black lentils) and tomatoes blended into a thick and rich medium spicy butter sauce; as well as Murg Bemisal, which comprises TandoorGrilled Chicken Tikka simmered in satin smooth tomato gravy. A basket of Naan and Roti is strongly recommended to accompany your main course.
Baluchi opens daily from 1pm until midnight. Another branch of Baluchi can also be found at Karon Beach at the sister hotel Horizon Karon Beach Resort & Spa located in Karon Soi 2. Opening hours over there are from 6:30pm to 11:30pm daily except Saturday.
Do not fail to tempt your taste buds with classic Tandoori Chicken. The half spring chicken is traditionally prepared, marinated with authentic Indian spices – it is smoke-kissed, moist and tender, served hot. It is a sumptuous starter for all chicken lovers.
