Just opposite to stylish La Flora Resort and Spa, stands Imperial Restaurant – a new establishment offering imperial Chinese-style cuisine. It is the sister to renowned Baan Kalim Restaurant. Imperial Restaurant displays live and fresh seafood at the front, so you will be able to select whatever you like – and everything is guaranteed fresh. Experienced chefs put their hearts into each fresh seafood dish to serve up enchanting imperial Chinese-style cuisine that is more than memorable. The open kitchen is a fine touch that makes dining a little bit more exciting as you can view a lively cooking scene from your table if you opt to sit downstairs. This gives the venue an atmosphere similar to the famous Hong Kong Food Street and helps to fire up your appetite. Staff here will offer a warm welcome as you step into the restaurant. There is a wide range of dishes on the menu – and we sampled some of the secret recipes that come highly recommended. Cereal Prawn is one of the chef’s top recommended dishes. Fried Lotus Root stuffed with Pork is another signature restaurant creation that combines vegetables with meat in a simple but sublime way. It is a perfect match –delicious even without a sauce. highlighted by a touch of crispy cereal. The prawns were very fresh and firm. This Malaysian-inspired dish is worth a try. Imperial Fish Soup is perhaps one of the best choices for soup at Imperial Restaurant. It is made from fresh fish simmered with chicken stock for more than a day, and comes together fully with lotus root, gingko nuts and bamboo mushrooms – all ingredients known in Chinese medicine to have high nutritional value and healing properties. When served hot, the soup is divine.

With distinctive architecture, Panwa House is a very charming scene for diners – it truly offers an experience like no other. Panwa House is part of Cape Panwa Hotel, which is located at the southernmost tip of this stunning island. Panwa House is an original Sino-Portuguese style mansion set beside the beautiful Andaman Sea – and is known as one of the best places for romantic dining or wonderful parties that look as though they are part of a movie set. This beachfront restaurant has two floors, the second of which has been preserved as a museum. You will be able to walk back through time to see what Phuket was like a century ago. Old books and ancient furniture are among the items on display. This restaurant serves authentic Thai delicacies in a very unique environment and is open for dinner from 6:30pm to 11:00pm daily except Mondays. The spacious house can serve up to 24 guests inside and 80 guests outdoors. A private dinner on the beach can also be arranged and should be booked in advance. As for food, here are some of the recommended dishes from their menu. ‘Nam Prik Goong Seab’ or Smoked Shrimp with Spicy Shrimp Paste is an original Phuket

delicacy. It is famous among Thais and a very healthy choice served with a variety of boiled vegetables. For those who would like to experience authentic Phuket fare, this is not to be missed – but be aware that it’s hot and spicy. ‘Pla Kapong Tom Yuam Haeng’ or Red Snapper Fillet with Lemongrass, Galangal and Chilli Sauce is another exceptional dish to sample. The red snapper fillet is fresh and has the perfect texture. It is just a bit spicy and the Thai herbs used lend a sensible aroma to the dish. The fish fillet is very rich in flavour and every bite is savoury. Restaurant Preview 24
‘Gang Nam Pla Wan’ or Rock Lobster with Chilli Sauce is also another excellent selection for your authentic experience. Although the lobster is cooked with chilli sauce, it is not very spicy and would make a good choice for children and those who cannot eat spicy food. The tone of the dish is much more of a sweet-and-sour flavour. The rock lobster is cooked to perfection. After the main course, you may need a sweet treat to soothe your palate, and Panwa House serves the all-time favourite ‘Kaneow Mamuang’ or Mango with Sticky Rice, as well as a refreshing ‘Chao Kouy’ or Black Jelly made from herbs with syrup, and a pretty selection of original Thai sweets or ‘Kha Nom Thai’, among others.
