Background • Born on September 8, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. • Attended San Diego State University, graduated with Bachelor of Art in Sociology. • Worked as a teacher at Southern Oregon • 1980 attended a 2 week graphic design course at University of Arizona, taught by Jackson Boelts • 1983 attended a summer workshop in Switzerland. Was influenced by Hans-Rudolf • Ranked as the 9th best surfer in the word in 1989



Works • David Carson follows his passion in graphic design in his later life. At the beginning he worked as a designer for a magazine, Self and Musician.

Works • Part time at Transworld Skateboarding. • 1984 became art director • Developed a signature style with the use of unconventional ‘dirty’ type photographic techniques


Works • 1989, he was landed a job at the magazine Beach Culture, as an art director. • Produced 6 issues before journal folded. • David Carson’s designs were recognized for his unique style and typography. • Received more than 150 design awards.


Works • 1992, he was offered a job at an alternative-music magazine Ray Gun as an art director. • Carson proved himself as he tripled the magazine’s circulation and attracted a wide readership.


Works • In 1995, Carson quit his job at Ray Gun and established his own firm, David Carson Design. • He signed contracts with the host of major corporate clients, including Nike, Pepsi Cola, Ray Bans, etc...
