QUALITIES OF THE SOUND There are four elements to make differences between sound and noise: 1. Pitch: High and low sounds. 2. Duration: long or short sounds. 3. Intensity: soft or strong sounds 4. Timbre: this quality allows to recognize different instruments and voices.

TEMPO When we write a piece of music on the music score we can indicate the speed we want the music to be played. And we use Italian words. Some of them are: -Lento: Very slowly. -Adagio: Slowly. -Andante: Slowly. -Allegro: Fast. -Presto (vivo, vivace): Very fast. If we like to indicate gradual changes in speed we use the words: -Accelerando (accel.): Faster gradually. -Ritardando (rit.): Slower gradually.
