ACCIDENTALS There are three signs called accidentals: (in Galician: alteracións accidentais).

ACCIDENTALS Accidentals are signs than must be placed on the left of the note.

It changes the pitch of the note.

These three notes sound completly different.

The first is the highest.

The second is the lowest.

ACCIDENTALS Sharp makes the note to sound a semitone higher.

Natural F and Sharp F The second note is higher than the first note.

ACCIDENTALS Flat makes the note to sound a semitone lower.

Natural E and Flat E The second note is lower than the first note.

ACCIDENTALS Natural gives back to the note its natural sound.

Sharp B is a semitone higher than natural B Flat B is a semitone lower than natural B The first note is highest The second note is the lowest.

The third note is natural

ACCIDENTALS The piano gives a clear view of accidentals.

White keys are natural notes. Black keys are accidental notes.

ACCIDENTALS As you can observe, there are several octaves on the piano.

Black keys are grouped in two and three.

You can find natural do always on the left of the group of two black keys.

Pay atention also between mi and fa, si and do there is no black key. Do you know why?

ACCIDENTALS Between mi-fa and si-do there are no black keys because there are anly one semitone between these notes.

The rest of the notes have one tone in between and they can divide the tone in two semitones.

ACCIDENTALS Each black key has two names but the same sound.

This is called enharmonic.

ACCIDENTALS IMPORTANT: the value of an accidental lasts one measure and it influences only the same notes with the same sound.

O 1º sol é natural, o 2º é díese e o 3º tamén porque está dentro do mesmo compás e por tanto ainda está baixo o efecto do díese anterior. O 4º sol é natural de novo porque xa está noutro compás. O 5º sol é díese porque leva o signo diante e o 6º e último xa é sol natural porque está noutra octava e o anterior xa non ten influencia sobre el ainda que estea no mesmo compás.

O 1º si leva bemol diante polo tanto é sib pero o 2º leva becuadro que anula o efcto do bemol, e por tanto é si natural. O 3º é bemol de novo. O 4º volve levar becuadro e por tanto é natural. O 5º está baixo o efecto do becuadro anterior, dentro do mesmo compás, e por tanto é natural tamén. O 6º leva bemol. O 7º tamén é sib xa que está baixo o efecto do bemol anterior dentro do mesmo compás. O 8º e último si é natural porque está en distinta octava que os anteriores e por tanto xa non está baixo o efecto deles.
