Finder’s KEYpers (December 2, 2016)

Being apart of Finder's Keypers was a great experience! Running around and doing mini challenges with the officers made it really fun and personal. All of the officers were super nice and spirited, and it made me feel closer to them. Since I'm new to Key Club, it helped me a lot. My partner, Maggie, and I also bonded while running around campus and doing weird things with each other. It was a great event and I'm looking forward to future ones! ~ Britney Nguyen (9)

Recaps

Firehouse Run (December 4, 2016)

When I was at the event, I was there with Amy most of the time since she was my partner. I got to pass out water to the runners and cheered for them until my throat started hurting with the presence of holiday cheer while singing Christmas songs super obnoxiously loud. After the race I got to sing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer with the kids. I would always remember the part where I saw Santa Claus riding a bike come to our station for water! ~Koby Pham (10)

Upcoming Sunday Friends (January 22, 2017) Attending Sunday Friends was a great experience to hang out with kids. I helped them make cute crafts that they could decorate for fun or make their parents happy. Just seeing the kid's smile at what they accomplish, makes me want to smile and it was very fun to interact with the kids there and listen to the stories they tell. Playing games, making crafts along with them and interacting with the kids was one of the big highlights of Sunday friends I really liked about it and I found a side of myself that I never knew I had and I’m really glad that I went to Sunday Friends. ~ Joann Huynh (10)

District Convention (DCON) Want to meet hundreds of other Key Clubbers from California, Nevada, and Hawaii? Sign up with an Executive officer by January 18th, 2017 and join other Key Clubbers and Alumnus on APRIL 7-9, 2017 at Key Club International DCON at Anaheim! DCON was one of the highlights of my year. Not only did I get to see Sacramento for the first time and stay with friends in a very cozy hotel room, but I also got to see the reason why I got hooked into Key Club in the first place. I got to be with a group of people just as crazy as me. I also learned a lot of things in workshops which also helped me in life such as how to be confidence when talking to new people. My favorite part about DCON is when we went to the board game room, rather than the Governor's Ball because Lucy dabbing was already to intense for us, and I was doing this ridiculous dance that my friend got me to keep doing and a random key clubber came up to me and joined me. I would definitely say to anyone who has an opportunity to attend DCON that they definitely should because you can't say you might not like something if you haven't tried it yet. ~Nikko Timbal (10) I went to DCON last year and it was a super fun experience. I went to workshops to learn about things like how to be professional and gestures to use while speaking in front of an audience. One of my favorite parts of DCON was the end of the day rallies where everyone gathered together and cheered for the new LTGs or listened to the inspirational speaker. I also got to meet up with my old friends that I met through FRN and meet new friends from different divisions in both So-Cal and Nor-Cal. ~Jennifer Lam (11)

The first day of DCON was Spirit Gear Day and I remember seeing this one club where everyone was dressed up as Woody from Toy Story, and every time someone yelled, "Andy's coming!" they would all fall down to the ground. We had seminars practically everyday, and I was expecting them to be boring, but they turned out to be really interesting. I learned about leadership, professionalism, and got to see all the lieutenant governors sing a parody of "A Whole New World," which was pretty awesome. Everyday we would all gather together in a giant room and see performances, get awards, and we had this amazing guest speaker. The Governor's Ball was also pretty cool, but one of the best thing had to be the hotel life. Honk. ~ Rachel Ly (11)

DCON was an amazing experience to have! Spending time with fellow Key Clubbers and meeting new friends was one of my favorite parts of this three day event. Throughout District Convention I was able to see Key Clubbers show off their club spirit, spirit filled cheers, and their love for Key Club. DCON is definitely a must go event for all key clubbers. The experience is unforgettable. ~ Vince Nguyen (12)

Key Club District Convention is one of my favorite events because it's where we celebrate the efforts of all members and officers, cheer our hearts out with our schools and divisions, learn new leadership tactics that can be applied in our future lives, and make memories that last a lifetime! Besides walking on stage to be acknowledged as Distinguished Secretary, the most memorable moment at my first and last DCON was when a Kiwanis member walked on stage, and said "2015-2016 Board, you are now officially retired," and at that moment, I finally realized that my Key Club journey has come to an end and I will forever cherish the moments that came with it. After this moment, all the D12E Key Club members gave the 2016 seniors a group hug and we performed our cheer for the last time, and we never felt so fine, all of the time! To those who haven't, attend DCON because it's a worthwhile experience that will definitely ignite your passion for service and leadership, and build the Keys to your future and opportunity! ~Joshua Ranario (Alumni)

Last year, I attended DCON as a graduating senior and retiring officer, so it was very bittersweet. The last day was especially packed with emotion, and I ended up crying with our club's seniors because after 2 days of DCON, surrounded by open-hearted key clubbers, it was heartbreaking to know we'd leave them behind. Aside from being an emotional roller coaster, DCON is also a very educational experience, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to become an officer, or is one. It's a rewarding event, and I hope all of you get the chance to go at least once! ~ Lucy Thai (Alumni)

InterKey Pajama Jam Date: TBA!!!

Pajama Jam is an InterKey movie night bonding that we do every year! Leading up to Pajama Jam we have an InterKey spirit week with club gear switch day and InterKey love days! During the actual event, we come dressed up in our PJs and play board games with Interactors and Key clubbers then we watch a movie together. This year we're watching "Monster's University" and we have a bunch of posters and icebreakers that is "Monster's" themed! It's a great way to meet people from the other club because, at the end of the day, we aren't just Interactors or Key Clubbers, we're all just people who love doing community service. ~ Jaria Jaug (12)

Key and Interact are coming together to bring you our annual InterKey PJ Jam! This is an exciting event where two of the biggest clubs on campus come together to celebrate our passion and love of service with a movie, food, and games. This year, we'll be visiting Roar Omega Roar and Oozma Kappa over at Monsters University!
