TREASURER’S NOTE from Christina Tran

With the month of August and the beginning of the school year, we have already done so much including various service events, boba wars, and even our very first afterschool boba fundraiser. As a club, we have raised over $200 and have earned over 100 hours. Needless to say, I am super proud of not only my lovely officer board but all of you Key Clubbers!!!

For the next month of September, make sure to visit us at our booth at Mini Club Day and attend our first general meeting to get some otter pops to refresh your day! Remember to look after yourself as the load of homework and tests will start to pile up, stay hydrated throughout the next month, and most importantly, to KEYp on serving and supporting our future fundraisers.

Despite being a freshman new to high school and Key Club, Annie Lim has contributed great efforts to start her Key Club journey and has showcased her dedication to our home club. She has signed up for numerous events such as Teacher Team Up, RAFT, and was one of the few first freshman to ever sign up to attend a DCM! Her kind personality and her goals to take initiative displays her embodiment of the four core values. Her efforts deserve to be recognized and thank you Annie Lim for being a great role model for our club!

with Stephanie Gao

On Saturday, I had the opportunity to attend my first RAFT event! After arriving and checking in with Katelyn, we waited for everyone to arrive before heading inside the building. Inside was like a huge warehouse with a store on one side and another side for the volunteers to work. After listening to the instructions, we started working. My job was to make sure that the educational kits had the right amount of materials. Though it seemed tedious, time flew by quickly and I had a fun time conversing with the people around me while checking the kits. After, we got a little break and we were all able to wander around the store section. There was almost everything there, from school materials to t-shirts to computer keyboard and so much more! After our break, we switched tasks and I was assigned to bundling up sticks together in a group of 5. Overall, this was a super fun event and I'm glad I attended.

I was very excited to attend the service carnival as all of the committees had put so much effort into planning it. I was a part of the registration committee alongside Katelyn and Leslie. It was extremely rewarding seeing the majority of the people on the spreadsheet show up! After we finished signing everyone in, I forced Katelyn and Stephanie to do the penny toss game with me so that we could win candy. Before we could play, we had to complete a coloring page. The pre-drawn pages ran out, so we were free to draw anything we wanted as long as we included a cute message. We all drew minions and mine was the cutest one. After we finished, we played the actual game. I didn't get any of the pennies into the paper plates, but I still got a prize which was absolutely awesome. This event was a huge success thanks to everyone involved!

This year's August DCM was held at Cataldi Park in collaboration with D12West and D12South! The event started off with registration and then splitting into our individual divisions to hold our monthly meetings. There, all the home clubs were able to give their update for the month and I got to hear what everyone else in the division was up to. Next, we talked about old businesses as well as introduced some upcoming events. Next, we were split into a group of 15 people who we'd never met before and played a couple of rounds of "Guess The Song." It was super fun as my team was super enthusiastic about the songs and sang the whole thing! Next, we socialized with other people as well as took a bunch of pictures. In the end, we took a division 12 picture and we got the chance to support the other divisions by purchasing egg rolls, lanterns, and even spam musubi! Overall, it was a great event and I got to meet a bunch of new people :)
