VP’s Notes MAY

Hello hello all! It's finally over guys! Finals are over and ap exams are over woooohooooo! I hope y'all were able to finish off the school year with a bang as these will be the best years of your lives before y'all become adults and go to college. If y'all are bored this summer, look out and volunteer for our summer events! You guys earn service hours AND get to bond with your friends at our events. I'll be posting a weekly agenda of our events every Wednesday from now until my term as vp ends! To any incoming freshman who are reading this (because of middle school visits), don't be shy to ask me or any other officer questions about high school! We don't bite (at least I don't think we do) 😀 I hope everyone has an amazing summer whether they're working, attending summer school or on vacation!

Kindest regards,

Stanley Lew

PHHS KEY CLUB VPOS 2022-2023

Happy summer keyuties ;) Don’t y’all love summer?? I know for a fact I do. Everything about it except the part where we worry about school-related topics is so mmmm yummy! I hope everyone is taking the time to treat themselves to some self care and do the things they love most!! I’m so proud of everything everyone has done this past year especially as our first year back from the pandemic :) I hope everyone keeps an eye out for any upcoming events since many of them has been in person again. Don’t be afraid to sign up with ur friends and make some memories while gaining service hours!! Have fun and stay safe <3

Munching on service,

Chau Doan

5/22: May DCM 5/27: AHS x MHS Lei Making Bonding x Fundraiser 6/6: Piedmont Middle School Visit 6/7: Sierramont Middle School Visit 6/9: Senior Banquet 2022 6/20: LTG Banquet 2022 6/25: Berryessa Library Book Drive 6/25: Rocks for Tots 6/30: IHS x PHHS Aloha Roller Rink Fundraiser | 04

Towards the end of April, Key Club had a milk tea fundraiser sponsored by Milk Tea Lab. This fundraiser was at the staff parking lot after 6th and 7th period. We gave free milk tea to students and teachers who donated to our Spring Clothes Drive a while back. These amazing clothes donors were able to pick between the Classic Milk Tea w/ Lychee Jelly and Passion Fruit Tea w/ Mango Stars. Both drinks were tasty and refreshing! It was fun to be incharge of my first ever milk tea fundraiser and have such helpful committee members to be part of it! The fundraiser lasted for a good amount of time and at the end, we decided to hand out free milk tea to staff members still at school. It felt great to hand out milk tea especially since teacher's appreciation week was around the corner. I hope to have more milk tea fundraisers next school year!

MAY DCM

with Jackie Wei Honestly, my expectations were not supa high going into the event because it was online, and there’s only so much that can be done online. However, our DCM coords Varchas and Esha made the DCM a huge success! After the DCM stuff, we were introduced to our amazing DLT for the first time, and we played a kahoot about exotic fruits (the winner got a cute squishmallow!). The game was so infuriating (like what the heck is a custard apple??). After the kahoot we went into breakout rooms to play skribbl.io, which I won in (Lokunthea honestly). Overall, I loved the DCM despite its being | 06 online, and I can’t wait to see what the future DCMs hold!

Roller skating is painfully fun :0 PHHS x IHS

ALOHA ROLLER RINK FUNDRAISER with Lori Lew

This collaboration with Independence was a great way to have fun during the summer. Roller skating was never on my bucket list, so my first experience was definitely interesting. Right after I put on my roller skates and stood up, I instantly fell :'( I was kind of expecting myself to fall a few times, so this was no surprise. It took me the longest time to get used to roller skating, but when I did it was a lot more fun. Every time I started actually skating well, I would then almost fall. Other than the pain of bruising myself, I was able to make a new friend! :)) She taught me how to skate better; however, I forgot to ask for her name :/. It was great to see Key Clubbers bond and fall together. This fundraiser was dangerously enjoyable and I hope in the future, we have more fundraiser collaborations at Aloha Roller Rink for PTP!

Same Book, New Chapter San Jose Public Library Book Sale with Quynh Dao Because of AP exams and finals in May and early June, we haven't been able to find events and volunteer until now. The first event I attended this summer was the SJPL Book Sale at the Berryessa Branch Library. My sister and I often go to the library to check out books, but this was my first time volunteering there. Upon entering the community room, I was in awe at the variety of book genres. From cookbooks to foreign language books, it seemed evident that a big effort was made to cater to everyone in our community. The first task I was given was to put the children’s books into cardboard boxes. The books’ varying sizes made it difficult, but with help from other volunteers, we were able to get the job done. My favorite part of the event was seeing volunteers of different ages come together. It was amazing how elementary school kids and middle-aged adults shared the same goal of bettering our community. Volunteering at the book sale not only brought me closer to other Key Club members, but also my community.

Media DIrector’s Notes Another month down! Or… 2, I guess. Due to being very behind with newsletters, Chao-Chi and I had to complete the March / April and the May / June newsletters all within the singular month of July. Fun! Well, as this is my second newsletter, I’m still experimenting with what works and what doesn’t- so be sure to expect more improvement from me in the future :D.

Hey guys! I hope summer is going well and you've gotten the chance to recharge. These two months of May and June has been a blast for the club. We visited Sierramont and Piedmont Middle Schools to promote Key Club to incoming freshmen, attend the LTG Banquet, and also our very own Senior Banquet! Summer has been very busy for me but I somehow managed to get this newsletter done with Andrew! I hope you guys had fun reading this newsletter :) See you at KCTC in July! :DD
