FROM THE

VP of Service

STACEY THAI

Hey Key Club! Nice to get to talk to you all. I hope you all had a wonderful time with your family over the holiday break. The new year has started, so it’s time to reflect on the past year and think about how to improve! I think I should improve myself by doing my homework for once and going to volunteer more often!! Maybe I’ll see you if we sign up for the same event. Make sure you are taking care of yourselves, and stay warm in this chilly and wet weather! Bundle up with lots of clothes, warm smiles, and a maybe a boo??? JUST KIDDING. Focus on your studies!!! A’s before baes. That’s all! Please congratulate Tony Hong for being elected as Lieutenant Governor if you see him around! It’s been wonderful seeing him turn from a shy, quiet freshman with a bowl cut to super smooth go-getter! Our experiences with Key Club have led us to grow in so many ways! Also, I hope you all sign up and have fun at Finders Keypers! It is this Friday after school and it's really fun! You will also receive two hours. Until next time! Stacey Thai PHHS Key Club Vice President of Service 2018-2019

NGHI CAO DECEMBER MEMBER

OF

THE

MONTH

Nghi Cao was chosen as this month’s member of the month because she has been attending many service events! She is always smiling and spreading positivity at these events as well. Recently at an event, she helped guide others on what to do, and she engaged in conversation with people she didn’t know.

Sorry Nghi, I couldn't find any pictures of you, but congrats!

ANDY TRUONG JANUARYÂ MEMBER

OF

THE

MONTH

Andy Truong was chosen as this month’s member of the month because of his great, happy disposition at the many events he has been attending. He continuously makes members laugh and smile whenever they're around him, making him so pleasing to be around. He is always eager to go to service events and help out, and he sometimes even attends more than one event in one weekend.

Event Recap

UNIKEY MOVIE NIGHT DECEMBER 7, 2018

The Unikey Movie Night, which played "The Greatest Showman," was surely one for the books. From the colorful decorations to the abundant food provided, the few hours spent at the library was one for making memories. I especially liked how the crowd was very responsive to the movie, gasping and clapping at climactic moments. I can't wait for the next movie night! -Nicole Chen

Event Recap

SANTA RUN DECEMBER 16, 2018

To me, runs are always the most rewarding volunteer events, and Santa Run was definitely no exception. My group was tasked with passing out cookies at the finish line, which was definitely a refreshing change from all the other races I attended. Passing out cookies to the runners definitely made me really happy as I could see that I was helping put smiles on the faces of the runners! It was also really nice to see how much other volunteers found enjoyment in passing out all the cookies as well, even when I got to admit that we were tempted to take cookies ourselves. This event helped me calm down and stay positive going into finals week. The rain may have been pouring down hard that day, but Santa Run is definitely one of my favorite events this term. Upcoming Event

FINDERS KEYPERS FEBRUARY 8, 2019

Finders Keypers is an annual key club bonding event! Members will be in pairs and their goal will be to find all the officers located around piedmont hills high school given a set of clues. However, each time they spot an officer, they’ll have to complete their challenge for a chance to match one of their clues with the officer. The first pair to match all of the clues with the respective officer wins a prize!!

FROM THE

Media Director Happy 2019, Superheroes! Welcome to the new year :) It might be a little hard to tell, but I tried to make this newsletter blue and gold themed, our Division 12 East colors. The start of the new year is also the time when we choose our new Lieutenant Governor for District 12 East for the next term. A few days ago, Tony Hong was elected as LTG! It truly takes a lot of effort and courage to become someone that multiple clubs throughout several schools look up to and serve under. Tony has a lot on his plate for the next term, and I know he can do it. Of course, Sabrina Huynh is still our current LTG, and her term continues strong up until District Convention in April! As always, keep attending those events and giving back to the community! Nicole Chen PHHS Key Club Media Director 2018-2019
