Superheroes! It’s me again, your favorite Vice President of Administration! Wow did first semester go by so quickly, but so agonizingly slow at the same time. Give yourself a pat on the back for finishing half of the year! Now that winter is halfway over, we only have spring and growth to look forward to. As for Key Club, I hope you guys all had fun this month with events such as Santa Run, Holiday gift wrapping, winter clothes drive and more. Remember to keep on grinding so we can reach our hours goal! We wouldn’t have made this much progress on our goals without you, so keep doing what you do best. With the new year comes New Year resolutions, so I hope you make it one of yours to keep on serving not only our school, but the community and the world as a whole. Continue to stay active by attending weekly general meetings and events. To the seniors, be ready for the last semester of high school! :’) Looking forward, there are plenty of events to be excited for! Conclave is happening in January, where our new LTG, Tony’s successor, will be elected. Soon after that will be DCON, where we will celebrate the end of the term. Though the term has not ended yet, I just want to thank all of you for being Key Clubbers and not making keys - but making a difference!

KELLY HO Throughout this entire term, Kelly has been an active member and regularly attends events, and nowhere was this more evident than in the month of December, when she attended an event almost every week. At these events, she is always seen talking to others and being very inclusive and caring. Even when she has to attend events that are very early in the morning, she always comes ready to work and eager to participate and help out, making her a great candidate for member of the month! We are excited to see how she'll continue to show her passion for service and for the club!

This month, I attended Firehouse Run. It was a really windy, rainy event but it was one of my more memorable races of the year. After signing in the volunteers, I helped assemble the snacks to be given out the runners after the race. There was an assortment of food, such as granola bars, water, and pizza, that a group of volunteers and I laid out. Once the race started, I cheered on the participants and congratulated those who finished their 5K races strong. I also helped pass out some of the snacks and cleaned up after the event was over. The most insightful part of the run was being able to speak with the event coordinator. He talked about how he became an event coordinator and brought up some ideas he had for future service events. He even took some of my suggestions for Firehouse Runs in the coming years. It was really great to be able to learn more about the process of starting a large event and I hope to be a part of more races like this in the future.

kiwanis toy wrapping
This chilly December, I had the pleasure of attending the Kiwanis Toy Wrapping held at our school library. During the event, volunteers dispersed into groups and wrapped huge bags of gifts that would be sent out to students at the San Juan Baptista Preschool. Each group consisted of a few students and Kiwanians, making it a wonderful opportunity to bond with new faces! The difficulty level of wrapping abnormally shaped toys was unprecedented, and I truly believe that wrapping gifts is a great method to show your love and care for others. I highly encourage others to participate in an event like this in the future, it is truly unique and definitely a worthwhile experience!

VNARP
by Vivian Tran
This month, I attended Fight Hunger with VNARP! It was a seven hour event of packaging food and preparing food for children in need of Tanzania. It was one of the most memorable events that I have attended so far. Everyone there was fighting for the same cause and realizing how lucky we are to have food on our tables everyday. The whole event was a competition to see which table could package the most food at the end of the event, the winner would get a huge prize. Our table was teamed up with Santa Teresa’s Key Club as well as PHHS Unicef. We aimed toward the goal and packaged 23 boxes. As we were packaging, people sung and offered to sing as well, and our table bonded through YMCA. I have never seen so many people work together to get the job done at such a short amount of time. At times we even ran out of food, and other tables were kind enough to share. This event taught me teamwork and it led me to make more friends from another Key Club which I always enjoy. I would no doubt go to this event again next year.

This December, I got the chance to attend the December Division Council Meeting. This DCM was a special one because it was a joint DCM between Division 12 East, Division 12 West, and Division 12 South. First, we got updated on everything that was happening throughout the division. After the DCM portion was over, we were able to mingle with the other divisions and ice skate with them! I thought this was a great way to meet other people who shared the same passion as me, Key Club! We all had a great time together and I was really excited to have this opportunity to meet new people and spend time with them.
