Hello Heroes!! I hope you all are having an amazing break! You definitely deserve it whether you’re a freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior. The weather has finally started to get a bit chilly so make sure to dress warm! I personally love this type of weather because it means all my favorite holidays are coming up and it’s time for warm and cozy things like fluffy blankets and hot chocolate! Get ready for all the spooky decorations and candy. Prepare your costume for this year. And most importantly, just have fun!! While school can be stressful use this time of the year to let it go and chill like the weather teehee. Another thing that you should be excited for is FALL RALLY NORTH!!! If you didn’t know, Fall Rally North is one of our biggest events where Key Clubbers from all around California, Hawaii, and Nevada meet at Six Flags to compete in a HUGGGEEEE spirit battle. It is one of my favorite events and if you are attending GET HYPED! It’s an eye opening experience and I hope that all of you get to experience it at least once :) Lastly, with Halloween also come TOT boxes!! Keep your eye out for when we distribute theses boxes and try to get the most donations. I heard the person who makes the most money gets a special prize!! ;) Keep up all the amazing work heroes and lets reach all our goals! Hope to see you around at service events :)

MEMBER OF THE

MONTH

Though only just beginning her Key Club journey as a fresh -man, Erin has shown so much dedication and passion al -ready! She has attended nu -merous volunteer events throughout the month of Septem -ber, including our badminton tour -nament in which she stayed for essentially the entire day with all of us officers. She also attended RTC, and it was amazing to see how excited she was throughout the event and how she stepped outside of her comfort zone. Erin is incredibly kind, sweet, and hardworking and we are really excited to see what’s in store for her!

BARK IN THE PARK

In September, I was able to attend Bark in the Park, an event I’ve been looking forward to since the last time I attended! One thing that makes this event so unique and great to go to is, obviously, the dogs. Hundreds of dogs and their owners all gather in one park, and there are always a dozen of dogs every way you turn! It seemed the organization received more volunteers than they needed, so I ended up being one of the crowd fillers. For hours, we wandered the festival and was able to see dogs in their element. I made it my goal to count how many different dogs I was able to pet, and it was 54! There truly isn’t a volunteer event like Bark in the Park.

In September, I was able to attend our club’s Lexus Car Wash Fundraiser! At this event, we vacuumed cars that had come to the dealership to get cleaned. It was quite the experience to clean these cars, as some were definitely more challenging than others, to put it nicely. However, in the end, it was definitely all worth it as we were able to receive $500 for our services, all of which went towards PTP! In our downtime, I was also able to bond with those that attended. We talked, played some games, and got to connect a little bit more. I had a great time at this event, and I hope to see it happen again in the future!

LUNA PARK CHALK ART FESTIVAL

In the month of September, I attended the Luna Park Chalk Art Festival. The festival serves as a place where artists can gather together and display their chalk art pieces to the community. At the event volunteers helped with setting up the event and unloading boxes from booth vendors. Although unloading the boxes were tiring, it was great seeing people from a wide range of age groups spend their weekend observing or drawing chalk art on the designated blocks of sidewalk. The chalk pieces looked really amazing and I would definitely recommend anyone interested in attending it next year. 8

In the month of September, one of the events that I volunteered at was Key Club’s Charity Badminton Tournament. The badminton tournament was open to people around the area and all the proceeds went to help fund PTP! This was the second year of the event, and this year I was lucky enough to be part of the committee that organized the event. The day of the event was somewhat stressful, as there was a lot to set up and a lot to clean up, but overall it was definitely worth it. At the event, I was in charge of helping people register. There were people of all ages and people from many different schools, and it was cool seeing how far reaching our tournament was. During the event, there were moments of down time, and I got to bond with some of the people who were at the tournament which was really cool. It was amazing watching the speed, skill, and stamina that the players possessed. This is one of our biggest events of the year, and I’m happy that I was able to participate in such a successful event!

REGION TRAININ

from britney sun In the month of September, I was fortunate enough to attend Regional Training Conference, or RTC for short. At first I had a lot of self doubt after paying for the trip, with the insecurity that I am not extroverted enough to thrive when meeting so many new people. However, I was proven extremely incorrect, and I ended up having one of the most fun weekend of my life! I truly realized what other Key Clubbers meant when they referred to this event as their “Key Club Moment”, as there was just so much camaraderie involved when creating new speeches and cheers. Sitting around the campfire was a super special moment, and never have I had the opportunity to scream my heart out. I was able to make so many new friends while also bonding with many of the other officers on my board thanks to the intimate setting. If anyone is ever on the fence about attending, I would just like to say that I 1000% recommend. I know for a fact that they won’t regret their decision !!

NG CONFERENCE In the month of September, I was able to attend Region Training Conference 2019! This is an annual event that is special to Key Club which allows Key Clubbers from all over Region 9 and Region 17 to gather together and have a weekend of fun in the woods! I am always so excited for this event whenever the fall season comes around! RTC has quickly grown to be one of my favorite events and I have been able to create so many wholesome friendships because of it. This year, the theme of RTC was Disney Princesses, and I was with LTG Kathleen Su of D2N! Throughout the day, we attended many workshops with our group (my group was Cinderella!) and we were able to bond a lot with each other! By creating a skit and a cheer with our group to perform for the rest of the groups at RTC, I felt that we were able to create so many new bonds with one another and it was truly an experience I will never forget. I attended Region Training Conference last year and I had the absolute time of my life, making a lifelong friendship there. Now, after this year, I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity that I had to attend RTC 2019 and I can’t wait to attend next year’s Region Training Conference!

FROM THE

MEDIA DIRECTOR Hey heroes!! I’m back again with the September newsletter. If you couldn’t tell, even though this newsletter is a recap of September, it’s Halloween and fall themed because it’s being released in October! This past weekend, I was able to attend Region Training Conference, my favorite Key Club event and definitely one of my Key Moments. I got to meet so many new people and hang out with my friends. It reminded me of why I love Key Club so much and I would highly, highly recommend that you all attend next year . Looking at all our goals and updates, I’m super excited that you guys are all working so hard for us to meet our goals. October is our final month raising money for PTP before we start focusing on MNT. Come out to our fundraisers to play a part in saving lives through these programs. PTP donations will be donated at FRN and this month we have our TOT boxes! I hope everyone has had an awesome October break and now that school is starting back up again, let’s keep working hard! I know we can do it :)) Soaring with service,

Jasmine Nguyen
