Meet Piedmont Medical Center’s SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM! 

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER:

BRADLEY S. TALBERT, fache

Brad Talbert joined Piedmont Medical Center in June of 2016. York County has already left a great impression on this South Carolina native. “Growing up in Spartanburg, I have a great affinity for South Carolina and our excellent communities. The people, history, and now explosive growth are wonderful traits for our community. I have quickly become involved in the community, through service with the United Way and Winthrop University. I look forward to more opportunities to engage with our community over the coming months.” Brad’s interest in healthcare leadership was sparked during his college years. He worked as a pharmacy technician, and the experience allowed him to understand how hospitals function from the inside. One of his favorite quotes is by John A. Shedd: “A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what it’s built for.” Brad believes you have to be prepared to take on new challenges, embrace change, and be willing to take risks to get where you want to go in life. 

Steve Gilmore, continued England Patriots fan and we’re excited to have him as the newest member of our Senior Leadership Team! 

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER:

JIM RILEY, rn Jim Riley’s healthcare career started in 1992 as an emergency department nurse after a 15 year career in law enforcement with the New York City Police Department. He holds a nursing degree from Catholic Medical College, a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the Medical University of South Carolina and a Master of Business Administration degree from Touro University International. Jim has been a member of the PMC Senior Leadership Team since November 2016 and describes his time in York County as exciting. “Until you experience things first hand, you don’t get a true appreciation for what is happening in your own backyard. This community has so much history and culture. Piedmont Medical Center is doing great things every day to make a difference in the lives of every person we have the privilege to serve.”

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER:

STEVE GILMORE Steve Gilmore became a member of the Piedmont Medical Center team in March of this year. There are many accomplishments to note during Steve’s 30+ years in hospital finance and administration. Before joining PMC, he served as the Regional Chief Financial Officer for the Northeast Region of Tenet Healthcare. Prior to his experience as a regional officer, Steve was the Vice President of Finance and CFO at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. He is a devoted New

CHIEF NURSING OFFICER:

TRISH FEILMEIER, rn Patricia “Trish” Feilmeier joined the Piedmont Medical Center team in August 2016. She describes her experience thus far as ‘wonderful!’ “Everyone has been warm, inviting and helpful. I can see the great passion our staff members have for PMC.” Trish’s mother sparked her interest in healthcare. “She always wanted to be a nurse but was unable to fulfill that dream,” Trish shared. “She inspired me as a Continued next page...

SENIOR LEADERSHIP, Trish Feilmeier, continued young girl and drove my desire to go into nursing.” For those who are interested in healthcare leadership, Trish offers the following advice, “Be willing to give a lot of yourself to your patients and employees. Go into healthcare with a passion for making things better.” 

ASSOCIATE CHIEF NURSING OFFICER:

MARILYN SMITH, rn Marilyn Smith joined Piedmont Medical Center in February 2017 as our Associate Chief Nursing Officer. “My experience at Piedmont Medical Center has been excellent,” said Marilyn. “I have the opportunity to work with an exceptional team who believes in providing excellent service to patients and their families.” Nursing is Marilyn’s second career. In the early 1990’s, she would visit nursing homes every weekend through community service with her church. That’s when her passion for nursing sparked! Marilyn’s personal motto is a quote from Aristotle: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.” 

CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER:

LIZ ELICH Elizabeth “Liz” Elich has served as PMC’s CHRO since January 2016 and has taken the time to get to know many members of the team. “I have been very impressed with the compassionate care that our staff provides to our patients. I’ve noticed a lot of staff stay at PMC for a long time because they really like caring for others and are very good at their jobs.” When asked about her interest in healthcare, Liz recalls several fond childhood memories. “My mom was a nurse, and I was always around hospitals growing up. I’ve always been in awe of healthcare providers. They work hard, show empathy to patients and families, and are very knowledgeable clinically. At the end of the day, you feel that you’ve made a difference in someone’s life just when they needed it most.” 

VP OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:

TODD SIGMON, fache Todd Sigmon came to Piedmont Medical Center from Memphis, Tennessee, in August 2016. “There is a great sense of teamwork here,” said Todd. “Our team understands what a privilege it is to take 2

Todd Sigmon, continued care of the people living in and around York County, and I’m very proud of the role I play in improving the health of our community.” With more than 18 years of progressive leadership experience, Todd’s advice to someone who aspires to be a leader in the healthcare industry is to be flexible and adaptable. “Healthcare brings people from all backgrounds together with a common goal to improve the health of the community and the people we serve. There are many paths to choose in life and you never know when a simple conversation or a chance encounter can profoundly change your future.” 

VP OF QUALITY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:

DIVYA REDDY, mph, cphq, fache Divya Reddy joins us from KershawHealth in Camden where she served as the Chief Quality Officer. “I am passionate about high quality care and the work that goes into improving quality has a direct impact on the hospital’s ability to deliver exceptional healthcare,” said Divya. “Part of quality healthcare is providing the right care to the right person every time.” Divya’s drive to help make a difference in the lives of others led her to the healthcare industry. “I have always been interested in healthcare because there is a certain intrinsic satisfaction that comes from working in an industry with a primary goal of healing people.” 

VP OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS:

AMY FAULKENBERRY Amy Faulkenberry has been a member of the PMC Team since 2012. Since joining Piedmont, Amy has worked as Director of Marketing and Public Relations, VP of Business Development and currently serves as the Vice President of External Affairs. “I have gained tremendous insight into how much this hospital does for this community, its employees and our patients,” shared Amy. “The respect I have for our medical staff, nurses and the entire team is immeasurable. They have extremely difficult jobs, but work together in such a way to make us all proud. It is an honor to be able to help in a small way to tell our story and be an ambassador for my hometown hospital.” With a personal motto of, “Go big or go home”, Amy has made a lasting impression on the team at Piedmont Medical Center. “We have so much to be proud of at Piedmont. I choose Piedmont for my family and I encourage others to do the same. This is a great place to work and an even better place to receive care. I know this firsthand.”

WEE READ AND LITTLE FREE LIBRARY bring the joys of reading to our patients and guests.

P

romoting literacy is not generally one of the first things that comes to mind when you think of high-risk infants in the NICU, but that’s the goal of the Wee Read program. Through the Early Learning Partnership of York County (ELP), Executive Director Teresa Creech leads a team of dedicated volunteers, some of whom work as nurses in our NICU. “When babies are sent there after delivery, this is an opportunity for the NICU nurses to explain to parents the importance of skin-to-skin bonding, reading aloud, and stimulating the babies’ brain,” shared Teresa. Each family that has a child in the NICU receives a package with a book, blanket, and bookmark that explain how reading aloud to the baby helps with bonding, growing language development and early literacy. PMC is proud to be a part of another ELP initiative – Little Free Library. This free book exchange opportunity aims to inspire a love of reading, community building, and creativity! We have two Little Free Libraries on campus (one in front of the Emergency Department, and the newest one in front of the Women’s Tower). These Little Free Libraries will bring the joys of reading to our patients and guests. Our newest Little Free Library was made possible by the ELP, Rock Hill Rotary Club, and our very own team members in Women’s and Children’s Services. Special thanks to Bailey Daves for her artistic creativity showcased on our new Little Free Library!

2017 TENET HERO WINNERS, JACCI BROWN, continued Jacci utilized her innovative organizational skills to improve the workflow in the hospital’s pharmacy. After seeking staff input, she developed new processes during a recent transition to a unit-based pharmacy model. This new model enables pharmacists to practice medication management on the front lines and also improves physician and nursing communication. Jacci devised the plan and tried it out with the weekend staff; they said workflow definitely improved. Jacci spent several weeks developing and improving the process and then educated the staff on the new procedure.

Jacci has a strong desire to help others in the community. As a breast cancer survivor, she is dedicated to bringing awareness and being a resource for others. She often delivers presentations to large groups. During a talk to 300 young women, she shared poignant details of her experiences with breast cancer, infertility, adopting two children – and the eventual birth of her third child. – Bill Lamb, Director of Pharmacy

Jacci also assists others undergoing the adoption process and is a caregiver for her father, who is battling cancer. She said this gives her a different perspective from a patient and caregiver point of view.

Her colleagues say Jacci is dependable and relentless in her pursuit of excellence. She brings out the best in others and is a Tenet Hero. 5
